Skymama- You rock!! Same here and with sooo many women. Thats why AirAnn.com is where it is today. Skydiving has a way of boosting ones self esteem to much higher levels. True for women as well as men. August 12th, 2001.... 11:45am.... Sonic Tom-tandem My friend had bought a skydive for her to-be husband for his wedding present. My then bf, a Harvard educated Attorney and partner for his firm had dumped my boney ass. I was watering my front yard with the phone stuck in the hedge waiting for the lard ass to call. Then I woke up, WTF am I doing, ... I grabbed the phone and asked my friend, what the number to that skydive dealio? I called and asked what they were doing out there and I said.. wait a minute, I will be right out. Bam... changed my life. I was doing something for me and me only. Next day, tandem #2.. and so forth. Like so many of us - the next weekend I had 3 credit cards and I started with the first one and bought the whole 9 yards of the program they had. During the course, I noticed -no women. I then announced that I didnt date skydivers and everyone kicked back a peg and I was able to concentrate on my skydiving. I have to say that I was nothing special, its just that new girls on the dz do catch attention. Since that day, and many persons seeing me in my office with my *Bonehead helmet on- I have seen many a girl & guy graduate as I have lent my assistance. I am glad I can say that I have made a difference. I wish I would have saved all the letters on a disk, just for me personally to read every once in a while- but, . ... I have lost them to web bugs. *The staff told everyone I was "challenged" and I had to wear the helmet to keep me from hurting myself. Carpal Tunnels, big troubles. I cant pack. I can barely hang on to the aircraft bar. My friend, Jack Berke, (profiled, parachutist July 2001), and I talked about this problem last winter. About hanging on to the bar with weak wrists. He lent me his own personal gloves that are kinda sticky and they worked really well. But, I landed in a mud puddle and they wont ever be white again. I call him Mr Jack, and when I gave them back the whole dz was watching... Mr Jack? I am soo sorrrry... but... He laughed and said, They are washable, Ann!! They were baseball gloves I think and the leather is kinda tacky or semi sticky - not gooey but just right. ...its a non issue pulling my hackey. When we are going out in a flower or a campfire my buds know the bar prob, so either they put me away from the prop blast or we get a quick count. I have not taken out the exit before the exit count -yet. However, it crossed my mind once that I was going to. In the video they say I always smile, (I was gritting my teeth!) Sweetheart, Have you thought about entering some photo contests? If not you are on your way. You have a sharp eye for the image detail as well as color. And did you use any filters? Could be you have an original sharper image or you might want to try a quicker shutter speed for the sunsets to catch the trees more sharply agaist the background. That is the only thing I can find to say about those. Because they are extremely good fotos. You might want to try some of the Photography magazines for the photo contests, but make notes of your lenses and filters, shutter speeds, and etc. They will want to know all that. Also, if you mat them, you can show them in some of your local photography places. I have even seen some displayed in Drs offices and beauty salons. These images can be good enuff for framing if you find the right individual interested in the subject matter. I am sure this is your hobby, but you will still have the negative and you own the media. But for fun and profit I believe you are on to something that you are obviously good at. Happy Clicking and Show some more stuff Viking. You are awesome behind the lens. When the beer light comes on that is when I start tending to my injuries. Washing blood off and stuff. Like when I wanted to be oh so cool and jump barefooted.... Oh hell yes, I got cut real bad, I blamed it on Rabbitt cause he is forever cutting the grass, so I said that a Sharp Blade of Grass did it. Derek busted me in back of Scottys place washing the blood off. Then that other time, when my hand got caught in the risers and left 3 long fingernail scratches on the right side of my face. I tell you what my friend, and I swear by this... Silk long underwear. They are ultra thin BUT they work just right. You can get them at the nicer ski outfitter stores. I have even used the hand warmer packets and feet warmer packets and those are good as well. The thing about silk underwear is that they breathe and they go under you clothes like a dream. I wear them under my stuff and you dont have to have tons of layers and your jumpsuit still fits. Now for the nose, havent come up with anything for that yet, this side of a full face. I sold my custom Oxygen. It just wasnt right for me, never wore it once. Maybe this year I will do a Muff Brother dive. Its so true, I didnt know I was suposed to hold onto them. But like Larry said you dont care and you wont think about it. (most likely) Mine was spinning so bad I was lucky not to have a RSL problem =had I been on my back I likely wouldnt have faired so well. A JM landed with me, he tought I was spiraling down in the wrong place till he saw the cutaway. As far as RSL goes, its a personal thing --unless you have a camera. Therefore, I dont connect mine. Bad Bad JuJu RSL with a camera. Bill Lee made me promise to come to grips with my RSL wishes long ago. And I havent worn one since my cutaway and Bill packing my reserve. We talked at length about all the variables, like where do you pull? do you hesitate, and etc. Lotsa stuff to think about, then make your call. Good for You!! ~The mind becomes incredibly clear~ at jump #118 Suprise! I had gone out to the DZ alone and didnt know to many people at this DZ. This is a very interesting phenomenon. I dont even recall hearing any noise, and it seemed like it was in slo mo, but it was incredibly fast. My mal was a spinning line over with a couple of McTwists. I couldnt get one toggle down before the spin cycle hit me, so we think it was a break line over. I do remember seeing the left 1/3 bent kinda, then I saw the horizon over my canopy. I went for the handles. EVERYTHING I LEARNED CAME RIGHT BACK IMMEDIATELY, I even saw my instructors face- training me. Also, I was taught to use 2 hands. I couldnt get my left hand up to the cutaway pillow, the right hand was in position. That cost about a second. That thought stayed with me a long time, "I cant get my hand up!!" The spin made my stomach freaky ...Anyway, after that I immediately went for the reserve and beat the RSL or we went at the same time. I spun backwards and away. True, a white reserve canopy is a beautiful sight against a near sunset. I landed in a green field, beside my main and within eyesight of my free bag. The DZ van could not have been there any sooner. We gathered up my stuff and when we got back and out of the van. I looked up and saw Andre standing at the door to manifest holding his rig, he says the plane is waiting on you, it was damn near past sunset-so I went. This is why I jump there most of the time. I often hear about people losing their mains. ?? Why ?? I thought you were suposed to land with your main. Ramon is excused.. his landed in a corn field. Oh, I didnt know the handles would 'go away' so I didnt know to keep them. I also didnt know what a freebag was. Heck ya, Dave... we could meet up Houston Club, Aggie Club the East Texas Club and just be a buncha skydivers skydiving and having some laughs. A family reunion. ? ...of distant 4th cousins? I think it would be a full blown community blast. I know some of us can cook and I have a giant bbq cooker. You could cook a bunch of briskets in there. After a day of scrambles beer and bbq would be fun. Once a month or once a quarter. Or get on the phone tree and do a road trip. Any ideas welcome. Thats right, I have all your names. The background check is running. I always assumed it was one of those wreck dotters, but clearly we have enough info here to boggle the minds of certain website makers whereby you can get your own viruses and share them with your friends. -that is just wrong! Having said that- I also- care of these hack/crack geniuses- have learned what to do and how to handle various and sundry attacks on my system. I now have a near Pentegon Level security systems. Near Moat-like Castel Walls of protection. If you break thru one the other will get you, or the other or the other. One of the trojan deals will smash you or one of the DDT virus, bug, super spy infection sniffer will snuff you out. Then I will back track your footprints from satelight to satelight. Here is the sad part. I have no interesting data in my system what so ever. No need to encrypt. Well, there is one of my ass... but everyone has seen it already.

I know there is an East Texas Skydiving Club. I do not know of any Gulf region club. Lets make one! We used to meet at the Outback on Wed night for big ass beer night. But nothing lately that I know of. I wouldnt mind being part of a non-dz affiliated group such as a Houston Area Skydivers Club. We could do scrambles with the Aggies or meet once a month for a big way at alternating dz's or visit a new one and car pool. There could be something like a phone tree. This worked very well when I was surfing competitively. When the surf was up phones rang. We all made the trek, swinging by and picking each other up. We also had surfing contests like the North vs the South, and so on. We also used a auditorium at the UofH to show Surfing Movies and we 'donated' $5 to see the film. Then the money went somewhere, I cant remember... But we could do something like that and donate the $ to a good cause. Welcome to the forum. It is an anwesome place to pick up info and share ideas. I had my 1st spinning mal, line over mess @ #118. I did not keep my handles, (I did not know they 'went away') But, I did land with my main. And recovered my freebag. However, I did not know what it was other than stuff falling. I am on, near or past jump #300 now. I think my Protrack lists more than that, but anyway. I have been jumping for one year last August. You learn something on EVERY jump. Keep alert and have Fun!! Diversity is the key try a bunch of stuff and find out what you like and what area you are good in. Take me for example- I could never do accuracy. I am doing good to land without breaking stuff.
