    Bizarre

Yesterday, I was just about to connect to the internet when my phone rang. Nothing unusual about that except that it was the line that I only use for the internet (except for having a fax machine also connected) but I never - usually- get any incoming calls on it. So, out of curiosity, I pick up the phone... "Hello?" Nothing "er....hello?" Still nothing. Strange I thought but never mind. I replace the handset and attemot to dial out from the PC. No connection. I try again, same thing. So I pick up the handset again and don't get a dial tone, all I can hear now is someone's TV playing in the background and some weird grunting type noises from somewhere a little closer. So, realising that someone has maybe called me by mistake (wrong number) and forgotten to replace their handset I start whistling and yelling and blowing down the phone to try and attract their attention. No luck! I try this for about ten minutes altogether. Replacing the handset for a minute and then trying again. Eventually I start getting mad, this guy is stopping me from logging on to Dropzone.com after all. So, I yell down the phone as loud as I can, "HELLOOOOOO!!!!!!!" Then, way in the distance like he's at the other end of the room I hear this old guys voice, as calm as anything, reply, "Hello" Note, no questioning inflective as if to say "where's that voice coming from?" "PUT YOUR DAMNED PHONE DOWN!!!!!!!!" I expected him to pick up the handset and start asking questions like who I was and what did I want and why was I shouting down his phone, but no, he just replied, still from the other side of his room, and still unquestioning, "Okay" You really had to be there but at the time it really was quite bizarre. 2. [owwww!!] Can you imagine if they used phillips or normal slot screws and the driver slipped [/owwww!!] Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  3. You mean you're not supposed to look down??!!
  4. I'm sure it would go down like a lead balloon (now there's an idea!) at Langar! Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  5. Then hitch his trailer up and drive him somewhere very, very, very far away and preferably hot and dry, unhitch and drive home. Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.

  7. I had the same problem. Used the link from my mugshot and put it in my personal profile. Got the 'improper picture type' message so went in and removed the surplus bits after the .jpg. Didn't get the error message after that but now got no picture at all, just an empty square with a red cross in it. Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  8. In the case of a lineover I have always been taught to cutaway and deploy the reserve but would it not be sensible (given enough altitude) to attempt to cut free the line over first and checking controllability before resorting to a full cutaway. 11. Okay, I have to admit that having accumulated a few firsts I hadn't until last night got round to actually buying any BEER [shame]!! But when is the best time to hand over cases of BEER? Sneak it in during the day while everybody is out jumping, after jumping but before the bar opens or while the bar is open or what? I don't want to turn up with two cases of free BEER for everybody and be the cause of lost takings at the bar! Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.

  14. There was a recent post on this forum on the same subject and the overwhelming opinion was in favour of the ProTrack in regards of quality of product and after sales care. Until then I was undecided between the two but after reading the post I plumped for the ProTrack and I know I made the right choice. As for after sales service, I wanted to register my unit via the internet but there was no mention of being able to do this in the information that came with the PT. I emailed L&B and had a reply within minutes (literally). The PT was registered within an hour or receiving it. Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  15. I reckon it's going to Langar, to replace the much missed Porter. Am I right? Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  16. She has a *thing* for Chris McCann. So I arranged for him to be her TM. You're right about Chuckles bar. Had some wicked evenings there. Must take this opportunity to say what a magic DZ Langar is. Super friendly, great atmosphere, great jumpships, I owe them big time. I would love to be able to jump with her but as I only got my A licence a month ago I don't think I'd be able to (don't have IC1 yet) Not sure of the rules there. 18. I'm not sure whether its noise or pressure. My ears pop on the way up. I might try squirting some 'Sinex' (TM) up there beforehand. Dunno, couldn't hear it
  19. After several long months I have finally persuaded my SO into doing a tandem. She sort of wants to do it but admits to being petrified at the thought, obviously. I've tried to explain how safe the sport is these days and even showed her (about a bazillion times) the video of my mum's tandem and even volunteered to go up on the same lift to give her a little moral support but I don't seem to be able to make her more comfortable at the prospect. I thought a few words of encouragement from you lovely people might help and, if anyone who jumps at Langar will be there on Friday, June 14th might seek her out and gee her up a bit! 20. After jumping from 13+ I suffer partial deafness in one ear which takes two or three days to clear properly. Anyone have any ideas how I can stop this happening? My doc (who I suspect is a complete quack and gained his doctorate from a correspondence school based somewhere in deepest Cuba) says there isn't a problem (this following a 2 second examination with his auriscope and banging a tuning fork on my head!) 21. If you think that was fun, just wait till you do your unstable exit. I was dreading it but it was the most fun jump I did during my progression. Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere.
  22. Also, I get to walk around with my GFs knickers in my pocket and she gets to walk around without any knickers on (nice)
  23. First, tape the dog's mouth/muzzle shut, then cut its bollocks off with a pair of pinking shears and finally pour molten glass into its ass. I find it works every time
  24. I solved the problem by stretching a short length of my GFs knicker elastic across the bottom third of the opening and superglued it in place. Holds the PT and has enough 'give' to slip it in and out. Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
  25. I bought a ProTrack a while back which I attached quite easily to the side of my Gath with the cradle and supplied cable ties. I now have a Gecko helmet which as an integral moulding for an audible. However, my ProTrack won't fit snugly into it and I have to wedge it in and hope it doesn't work loose. There is no way the ProTrack will sit against the velcro and even if it did it would mean attaching the other half of the velcro to the display so making it unreadable. Has anybody else suffered the same problems or has my Gecko just been badly moulded? Appreciate any ideas for making the ProTrack secure. Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
