Those were some good times weren't they big brother! ...and believe me, the honor was all mine getting to jump with you!! Ya gotta give the team leader credit, he certainly put together a great bunch of seasoned quality professionals with regard to the dynamic needed to perform demonstration jumps at that level. I always considered myself very fortunate to be a part of it, especially when a 'big dog draft horse' like you joined up! You and a couple others made me a better jumper because it was blatantly apparent to me that I had to take my game up a notch or two just to hang!

Well at least I got THAT goin' for me! I just hope I reach that point pretty soon Ron, I dunno if I can GO another 30 years scared shit-less! I haven't experienced everything sport parachuting has to offer. However, I have experienced everything that I imagined when I started jumping except a Mae West and impact. The honor of jumping with the LPT was about the final fulfillment. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. From 1963 to 2006 I experienced 39 malfunctions resulting in 14 reserve depolyments. None of those were scary at the time. They were simply fascinating jumps. My only scary jump story is the plane ride on my 10th jump for a 5 second delay. I was so scared I almost wet my jumpsuit. I wanted to cry but choked back the tears. It was the delayed stress of experiencing a streamer on my 8th jump. I used to teach students, at some point you will reach the maximum point on your fear curve. UK: Preacher arrested for saying homosexuality is a sin
RonD1120 replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
From the standpoint of sin, it is not. Sin is sin, see my post to billvon above. Just curious (honest question)... Does the Bible say anything about age requirements for marriage? Would it be a sin for a 30-year-old man to marry (and then have sex with) a 10-year-old girl? In my opinion, since no Judeo-Christian society, specifically the U.S.A., legally allows marriage with a minor that young, it is sinful. I have heard that some states allow marriage with females at 14 or 15 years of age. The New Covenant directs us to follow the laws of the land. I think the flaw in that argument is to link morality with law. They may very well influence each other, but they are not the same (aside from pure theocracies). It is very common for religiously devout people of all religions to condemn certain laws (i.e., re: "unto Caesar") for being immoral and or sinful (i.e., re: "unto God"). Put another way, many laws may derive their existence from morality, but at an absolute level, morality does not - indeed, cannot - derive its very existence from mere laws. I just composed and lost a lengthy, complementary and explanatory response. Such communique's should be typed and then copied into dz.com. Stuff to do, later. First SC thread. Go easy. Carbon Footprint question

OK, I surrender on that one. I'll retreat back to the original position. When science can control hurricanes/tornadoes, maybe then we can think about world climate control. Right now I'm more worried about the social quality of life for my grandchildren. And, there is no controlling that either. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. I have always believed that it is better to start small then build on success. If we are capable of changing world climate let's start by controlling hurricanes and/or tornadoes. When we accomplish that feat we can move to world climate change. Furthermore, we don't have to worry about the sea level rising from ice melting. Experiment: Take a large glass and fill it with ice cubes. Next, fill the remaining space with water, all the way to the rim. Set the glass on the counter and let the ice melt completely. How much does the water level rise in the glass? Does the water overflow the rim? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. I referenced the Scripture, Mark 2:27. The following is a quote from the Christian Research Institute. http://www.equip.org/articles/sabbath-keeping-and-the-new-covenant Further references on the Sabbath are: http://search.equip.org/search.php?zoom_query=Sabbath I do not believe there is more than one path to salvation. We have comprehension and understanding. Except that saying "damn" is just an exclamation, about the same as "wow." The point is we choose how we behave. We have control, or at least the ability to learn control, over how we express our emotions. All homosexuals have to do is repent and choose not to pursue the perversion. It is a choice. I'm not saying it is easy, neither is quitting smoking or alcohol or drugs. It is better for you not to choose these behavior patterns. Seek the Lord and the Holy Spirit will guide. That is true: 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. So what benefit is there in telling homosexuals that they're going to hell...We were all headed to hell homosexual or not...what does it matter if they don't believe in Christ. I believe it's our mandate to preach the good news...not the bad. We tell people about Christ and if they accept it, great! If not, we shake the dust from our feet and move on to the next person. right? You are absolutely 100% correct. I tried that approach starting Apr 09 and it lasted until May, I think. When I am attacked I tend to counterattack. We, the body of Christ, need folks like you, madmax, rynodigsmusic, et. al. I am just too gnarly. First, you are not referencing the NT writings of Paul and John, which I believe is selective. Frequently, we take the weight of Scripture when considering conceptual guidance. Second, I believe born eunuchs would be more correctly defined Scripturally as asexual not homosexual. There is no denying the fact that Scripture states that homosexuals will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. I agree with CarrieByTheSea, you vocation is pretty much your business. You are not into human trafficking are you? There is an Eastern principle that basically states, responding to absurd negativity just gives it energy. Andy9o8 is an attorney, so count on him to counterpoint anything you post. I like John MacArthur but he tends to make me wince. Back in the early days of my walk with Christ, actually they are all early days, I used to balance MacArthur with Chuck Swindoll so that I would feel better about myself. Someone once said, "The job of the preacher is to make the uncomfortable folks feel comfortable and the comfortable ones to feel uncomfortable." First, understand that sin is replacing self desire for God in your life. From God's perspective all sin is equal as a rejection of Him. Speaking for myself, there is sin that makes me think, that is just not right. There is sin that makes me think, that bastard should die. And, there is sin that makes me think, that is disgusting and repulsive. Finally, all sin, ALL SIN, can be forgiven by repentance and turning to Jesus Christ and making Him Lord in your life. In so doing, the believer receives the guidance of the Holy Spirit and He clarifies the decision process. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. Better to have a president like the last one who thinks God is talking to him telling him to wage war in the middle east annd beyond? Sure that sounds much better. Well, all things considered, yes, yes it does sound better. President Bush responded to an act of war against the U.S.A. on 11 SEP 01. I am not going to discuss the justification for OEF/OIF. However, how many of your countrymen were killed that day? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. I truly believe the greatest sadness of the Christian faith is it's churches and church leaders. I preach the gospel of Jesus Christ; recommend reading the New Testament of the Holy Bible, to start; and seek to know Christ within your understanding, it will grow and change. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior I was alone. There was no hype or influence from any other person or church gathering. My salvation experience was unique, real, personal and life changing. The Scriptures advises us to fellowship with believers. It does not direct us to go to church and be HEEEEAALED.
