I just watched "Religulous" yesterday. There's a segment that touches on this. Does god hate homosexuals Ron? Oh no, not by any means. God hates sin. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

No, I don't think so. The key concept is the placement of responsibility for personal feelings. For example, do I feel bad because you say bad things about me? Or, do I feel bad because I don't know how to deal with what you say about me? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. A just ending to a gross misunderstanding. Hopefully, Laura Silsby will be absolved of all charges as well. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I'll own up to intolerance but not hatred. I do not hate homosexuals. I feel sorry for them the same way I feel sorry for addicts who just can't seem to break free. This thread bounces back and forth between the macrocosm and the microcosm. In the latter case, if I have a homosexual client, I can only help the client work toward his self determined goals. In the macro discussion, I have an opinion and a philosophy regarding homosexual choice. My posts in this thread are in the general discussion arena and my opinion is not negotiable. Let's stretch our metaphor legs, shall we? Everytime this guy named Bob walks out his front door, the peope on the block throw rocks at him. He always had bruises, cuts, scrapes, etc. He goes to see Dr. Ron, who says with great authority, "Well, Bob, clearly your behavior of choosing to walk out your front door is your problem. If you just choose to stay inside, all your problems will be solved." In your world, the bumps and bruises are the problem. In actuality, the problem is the people outside, who can't just let Bob live his life in peace. I refer you to my posts #20 and #49. You can blame others and be a victim or, accept personal responsibility and seek a solution. As John Wayne is quoted as saying, "Life is tough. It is a whole lot tougher if you are stupid." Sort of like your "Christophobia" thread. Not quite, the Christophobia article was written by a Christian for Christian readers. The message was for Christians to take responsibility for themselves. I posted the article here for Christian skydivers to be aware and be encouraged. Were the negative responses to me and my post a problem for DZ.com, the moderators, the pagans in SC? Or, was the problem my responsibility based on my behavior choice to post the article in a known hostile environment? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. There are a lot of gay people who have the same feelings toward their sexuality. The ones I've met who are closeted are not so because of an internal conflict, but for fear of how they will be accepted in society. In short, society is the one with a gay "problem", not gay people themselves. That is a decent example of projection. Refusing to accept personal responsibility for a problem and projecting the cause outward. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. There's truth in that statement. To an attorney, every accident victim needs a lawyer. To the chiropractor, he needs a spinal adjustment. To the medical doctor, he needs insurance. To a carpenter every problem can be solved with a hammer, nails and a saw. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. You've stated before that Christians and Christianity are being persucuted by secular society. So, we can put a big check marj next to #4. I've also read posters here (not sure if you agreed or not) state that they felt threatened in the workplace due to their Christianity. So check yes for #3. Obviously your behavior revolving around the worship of Christ is causing you problems and you are deep in denial about it. I suggest couceling may help you to move away from these behaviors and choices that are clearly ruining your life. (If my point is too blunt, by your own methodology, being gay is no more a disorder than being Christian) Very clever. The difference is that I have accepted my "problem." My "problem" increases my functional behavior. It is not dysfunctional for me. My "problem" brought me out of my dysfunctional behavior and brought peace of mind, among other blessings. That seems to explain it all. It's your conflict. I simply do not believe that homosexuals ever asked *you* to solve their problems. Which problems might that be? Sin has nothing to do with homosexuality. Even you want to imply exactly that. I can't believe what nowadays is written here by posters. Why? This is a free-for-all arena. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I would deal with them the same as any client by asking, why are you here? What do you want to get for yourself? How do you define your problem? What have you tried so far to solve your problem? As a counselor, I never dealt with one of those. They are rare and they would not likely be seeking counseling. Outside of that, in a macro generic sense, I would characterize such a person as a sinner living a lifestyle contradictory to Scripture. What else can say? I do not accept your position. Refer to my post #20. I stand by that explanation. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

But you don't hate them, right? In my field, mental health/substance use disorder counseling, denial is usually the first obstacle to be dealt with by the client/counselor. One of my tactics to confront denial was to propose the following examination: Does your behavior cause a problem with your 1) personal health; 2) family relationships; 3) employment; 4) social interaction? If you answered yes to any of the questions, then you have a problem. It is your problem and you must take responsibility for yourself and your problem. My conflict is that homosexuals want everyone else to take responsibility for THEIR problem. When I was in graduate school 1971-73, homosexuality was a treatable illness. It has since been removed from the DSM-IV. When I was in school, the military, college and sometime later the term "queer" was common terminology. When I lived in the counter culture the common term became "fag" or in some cases "flaming faggot." They were accepted and often entertaining. When I became a Christian counselor in 1984 the condition took on Scriptural significance as the sin of fornication and an abomination in the eyes of God. All sin, ALL SIN, can be forgiven and lives can change if the sinner repents and seeks Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Behaviors are choices that can and will be changed if the sinner CHOOSES to make the change. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. hmmm. Did you read the article? No one was asking for a pat on the back, or on the head, for any choice, or anything else. I don't recall anyone else, besides you, bringing this up. Since you've emphasized the exact same thing in other threads, regardless of the thread topic, I'm curious: As a "good christian", do you feel it's your job to act as the anti-queer jack-in-the-box? Whenever the subject of homosexuality comes up, you pop up and blurt out "THEY DON'T DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT" regardless of the topic, as if Pavlov had joined the thread and rang the bell just for you, and this is your conditioned response? So, you're saying that you only feel pleasure if procreation is the result? No one can honestly say that. The truth is that sexual gratification feels good, whether it is "successful" or not. It also feels good whether you are in the majority (hetero) or in the minority (homo). It's the result of billions of years of evolution. The creatures that felt pleasure from the act were more likely to do it, and the more times you do it, the more chances for success you have. Homosexual behavior exists all over the place in the natural world. They still give it a shot, so to speak, even though it's not going to be "successful". It still feels good. So, you didn't choose, but they did? The fact is that you had nothing to do with the matter. You were attracted to women before you really even knew what was going on. That's just the way your wiring is. Face it. They didn't either. They're attracted to men before they even know what's going on. It's just the way they are. You didn't choose. They didn't choose. I bet if they could choose, a lot of them might choose to be attracted to women. I don't know for sure, just guessing. But when so many people like you spend so much time spewing this hate, could you blame them for taking the easy way out, and choosing the other side? But you have to keep calling it a choice, right, so you can keep on seeing them as different from you? It's not easy to hate someone who you see as the same. You're a christian hetero. Yeah you really sound like the minority. I'm white. You white Ron? I'll keep my guesses to myself. However, I will point out that I think John posted this to begin with, because you don't often see people who've been so discriminated against, discriminating against others (I have no idea if they actually discriminated or not). You make more than your share of hateful posts. Ergo I seriously doubt you're in anything that could realistically be called a minority. Is this what you call "manning up"? The world will be a better place when attitudes like this simply die off. Unfortunately, the bigots of today will be replaced by bigots tomorrow, who will find reasons to hate and vilify someone new. Maybe, like you, they'll use your 2000 year old book as the reason. Maybe they'll make up a new one. The reason doesn't really matter, it's just the excuse you use to marginalize someone else. Your assumption of hate is incorrect. I do not hate homosexuals. I just call it the way I see it. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

So apprently, the folks who wrote Bible/religious scriptures from other religions should perhaps have read the mind of god to have reproduced books that describe his relationship to humans, why not bacteria, dogs, chimpanzees, apes, etc. So merely the fact that you have conscienceness does not mean you have a direct hotline to god. Evolution has put humans at the top of the food chain and we happen to assume we are the byproducts of a masterpiece by god. Much to the contrary, if you understand evolutionary biology, you would see the evidence screaming on your face that human bodies are filled with "design flaws" The scriptures of all religion have been morphed since ages to current times to accomodate current views and somehow relate them to present times and make them look relevent. Start out by assuming all of science/cosmology is wrong and start doubting it and you can work yourself to all the laws governing the universe again and come back to the current knowledge. Now apply the same test to religion by doubting everything is wrong and you get onto a slippery slope whereby you could never recover to come to the present blind faith without reason. Human minds can easily be made to believe in scriptures cause it can be comforting, but would someone want to be comforted in falsehood or would you rather live perhaps without knowing things. Well anyways, I can understand its hard to wrap your minds around it, certainly background in Science will help to get off the ground. What constantly comes up in these threads, science and theology are separate but not necessarily mutually exclusive. I am a Christian after investigating several spiritual paths with disappointing results. That investigation started when I was around 14 and lasted until I was 39. I believe in scientific exploration and development. Just because I don't understand something doesn't mean that I have to rule it out. I had a professor in grad school that taught some things make sense, some things make no sense and, just because something makes no sense does not automatically make it nonsense. Your point of view appears myopic compared to mine. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. -

I admire your courage to repose all your faith in a book that is not even a first hand account of the events that transpired 2000 years ago. No one to validate, a book that has clearly put earth at the center and humans all too important. Not trying to change people. All I'm saying is look beyond and be open to reason. Mankind made progress because they looked beyond the scriptures and tried to understand the true book of nature. Imagine if we got stuck with the scriptures would we have progressed as a mankind, the resounding answer is NO Scripture or the Holy Bible is best understood as a wonderful love letter explaining the relationship of God to His children. You are seeing it as something else. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them. -
Or just the same rights as everyone else? People with attitudes just like this : have forced them to fight for those rights. Ron, how old were you when you "chose" to be straight? Give us an outline of that thought process, if you will. Was it a difficult "choice"? I myself can't remember "choosing" to be straight. It was just kinda how it happened. But I'm pretty curious to hear from someone who obviously thinks that sexuality is a choice. What swayed you? What did you mull over, as the pro's and con's? Do you think it's a religious thing, that you feel better being on the side with the most people? Do you have to take care in your life, to make sure that you're never in the minority? Not quite sure how to respond. First, homosexuals have the right to a private sex life the same as heterosexuals. They do not have a right to be praised and patted on the head in public for their choice. Second, heterosexuals have pleasure in procreation. Homosexuals have pleasure only. Seeking pleasure is a choice regarding how and when. The ability to defer gratification is an aspect of maturity. People can control their sex lives. Ergo, homosexuality is a choice for pleasure only and should be kept private. Third, I did not choose to pursue a natural, normal sex life. Males and females complement one another. Homosexuals do not complement one another again, indicating a preference choice. Fourth, I have always been in a minority classification of one sort or another. You have to make the best of it. It is an individual responsibility to cope. It is not everyone else's responsibility to change. Man up! Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. he is not required to 'prove his statement' If you are going to claim that something 'exists' then I would expect the onus would be on you to prove that. So far, nothing but faith exists as a 'proof of god's existence'. Sorry but I need more than that to prove anything..... You've changed your tone and style. Good on ya'. What makes you think you are so special that God chose you. The expression is based on Scriptures indicating that God/Jesus chooses us first. For example: John 15:19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. Salvation is for all but not all will choose to be saved. Our Father knows who His children are before we know Who our Father is. I have had several life changing or enhancing experiences with the Lord. If your divine appointment manifests you will know. The phenomena is beyond human description.
