  1. Does "the age of accountability" concept have a bearing on the death of children? As I stated above, my approach has been the application of the NT in my life and teaching the path to others. 2. Who is pressuring you? What if I told you that we do not need you on our team? You have your reward. I and my colleagues believe our reward is forthcoming. Your personal success and intellect has no effect on us what so ever. Just carry on and enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you run into a problem we will still be here, God willing. Otherwise, no one really cares. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  3. My response as a Christian counselor is based on experience and understanding of how to seek the sanctified life. I did not study Scripture until after I was saved, that is, after I humbled myself and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. In other words, I am and have been more interested in applying Scripture rather than conjuring "what if" scenarios. You will find argument within the body of Christ as to whether water baptism is required for salvation. I say it is not based on my experience. I was saved 16 Mar 81 but did not receive water baptism until c.Apr 83. Additionally, I asked for and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with signs following, a little later that month. This baptism is a traditional practice within the Pentecostals and Charismatics but not widely accepted throughout the body of Christ. Both baptisms are important steps in the life of the committed Christian. In essence the Christian has come to believe that the path chosen for life was wrong, inefficient and, harmful to self and others. The Christian "repents" or changes his/her mind about their life path and seeks guidance on the new adventure. That guidance comes from the Holy Spirit, Whose ministry is to keep you focused on the light of Christ. The Holy Bible clearly states that Christ is the gateway to eternal life. It is a gift from the grace of God. You have to decide to accept it. To not make a decision is making a decision against. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 4. Did you read kallend's reference on why science is inadequate when selling new information? It clearly states that PR propaganda is required regardless whether the salesman or the intended purchaser is liberal or conservative. We can only choose sides. I and my friends have chosen ours. You and your ilk have chosen yours. The line has been drawn. Odds are no one will cross to the other side. Prepare your weapons; it is a Mexican stand-off. 5. It was a snarky observation. But, you are right and I apologize. I need to take a break from this thread. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  6. Ah yes resorting to insults when your faith has been challenged. Good luck with that. My faith is not challenged. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  7. That is a blatantly foolish statement regarding our military veterans. I will probably regret this, but, I agree with your statement. The key words are "violent offenders." How do you define your term? Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

    Why?

By definition, No. Atheism does not require faith. Atheism is not the intellectual presence of anything; it is simply an absence of any faith or belief in anything spiritual or supernatural. Nothing more. By defintion? Ok but I still dont agree Athiesm is the belief there is nothing there both require a certain level of faith to sustain the belief I may be wrong but, I think Andy9o8 defines "faith" in a microcosmic sense, the same as he defines "sin" in a macrocosmic sense. 10. I don't know how old he is. The Bible does not indicate an age limit on a rebellious mind set. Research indicates that rebellion is a normal aspect of the adolescent mind. When individuals allow themselves to experience broader social interactions they tend to become more mature. Maturation can certainly allow for difference of opinion. However, to blindly discount the basis of another's opinion because you don't believe it is the foundation of adolescent rebellion carried forth into adult life. We have a lot of that here. 11. I see that I replied to you too soon, before reading your later posts. I understand where you are coming from now. Linear adolescence compounded by myopic maturational experience. EFS, that is all there is. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.
  12. The Apostles witnessed Jesus perform miracles while he was alive. They witnessed Him after the resurrection. They had first hand personal experience. They had absolutely nothing to gain by perpetuating a false belief. They simply could not deny the truth and they died horribly for their conviction. Kallend posted this link last week. I think it is a gem and would like all to read it. 14. And what is that old skydiver saying? Oh yeah, "Those who dance appear crazy to those who can't hear the music." Your responses in this thread are making you look poor. Generally you baffle the reader with your extensive vocabulary. Now you are resorting to name calling and that with the incorrect use of terms from the mental health profession. Such frustration and exasperation indicates a losing position. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 15. Makes sense in my world. My wife likes to shoot but only if I clean the weapon. She does not like the DZ because she does not fit in with the other women. She wanted a motorcycle outfit to ride my bike but, won't ride with me because it is not her style. Let's face it, most, not all but most, females do not have the slightest desire to learn the operation of a weapon more complicated than a revolver. Why?

Personally, I pray for the Lord's guidance. Sometimes He guides me to spiritual healing and sometimes He guides me to seek medical attention. I always ask if someone wants me to hold them in prayer, lay hands on them and pray directly. And, then there are those cases, such as some of the posters here on SC, where I pray that the Hounds of Heaven be sent to hunt their souls. 18. Why? Can't you just count on the down and out grasping for a new addiction or the lonely wanting to belong to something? Maybe all the born again convicts could keep it alive. Why must you pick on the children? They are our responsibility. The precious gift of God to us. We take that responsibility very seriously. We do not believe it takes a village. We believe it takes a mother, father and grandparents. Sadly I am aware that most of you came from disjointed families and no one really cared, deep down cared, for you. We do not want to do that to our own. For that is a grievous sin. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. 21. Considering that man has only been exposed to science for just a small fraction of his existence, we should one day soon be rid of the superstitions of our uneducated ancestors. If it were not for the indoctrination of the very young child, religion would cease to flurish. If you were able to keep a child free of exposure to religion, and then at the age of 18, give them the God proposition , they would laugh in your face and think you were in need of professional help. You realize that we can never allow that to happen. We must teach our children to seek the saving grace of Christ. When they do and receive confirmation they will pass on the spiritual truth to their children. The gospel message will be passed on to future generations the same way it always has been. If confirmation did not manifest the faith would die out. It does manifest and faith grows. Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. 22. You need to read kallend's reference that I referenced above. Edit to add: I probably gave you too many parts. 25. I respect your faith, but I respectfully disagree. These issues are a distraction from the real message the Bible is offering. Salvation to a lost world. I agree that we can agree to disagree on this but it does undermine the doctrine of salvation which begins in Genesis. You can choose not to believe what it says, but it is clear. A Gap theory or any other is just an attempt to compromise and harmonize what is told with modern evolutionary ideas. Given that this thread is conclusive evidence that religious conviction is but a socially acceptable form of psychosis, the clear demonstration that its underlying principles are unadulterated nonsense is pointless. If someone is going to devote their life to Baal or Gichimanitou or Bacchus or whatever, the fact that these are all mythical constructs is moot. The myriad gods out there are equally real and have identical claims to legitimacy (depending on who you ask). When believers presume to make their case by "logic," it has a similar quality to a little kid who is trying to prove that there are monsters in his closet - in a much more pathetic manner. The garbled accounts found in the popular religious texts are no more convincing than if belivers were to cite the phone book for support of their position. If I am working in a high-risk environment, knowing that the person upon whom I must rely is an adherent of a delusional phobosophy is frighteneing. I question the mental competence of someone who really believes in leprechauns and so forth, and thinks that failing to properly follow critical safety procedures will simply give them hot and cold running virgins or harp music ad nauseum or whatever. I'll take a cynic any day. Faith is okay, in that I have faith that I can make the best of what comes along if I so choose. Belief in things that are patently, demonstrably false is not so good. I contend that the only limitless resource at our disposal is stupidity, and religion is proof positive of that principle. One whose work is appreciated most by those in the upper echelons of Mensa is likely to remain obscure, but one who can tap into that atavistic facet of the human condition represented by religion is set for life. Getting back to the basis of the thread, it was simply the work of someone who assembled a period chrestomathy that did not not rely on superstition. It was an exercise of duplicating the work of those who prepared the popular religious compendia with an eye toward knowledge, rather than ignorance. Unfortunately, as the advertising rule of thumb goes, once you reach an 8th grade level, you have lost half your audience. Or, as Taylor Caldwell put it, "5% of the population think, 5% think they think, and 90% would rather die than think," and religion is ample proof that she was spot on.
