  1. -skydive more; -finish my damn classes and take some time off of school (finally!) -get back to working full time but it'll actually be fewer hours out of my life once school is done, so I'll have enough duckets for the item listed at the top of the list. Elvisio "sitting on the couch" Rodriguez
  2. 1024 hrs: wake up, take advil, sit on couch. 1024 - 1300 hrs: Watch Sport Center, eat breakfast, sit on couch. 1300 hrs: Watch the Detroit mop up the Blackhawks in the Winter Classic, sit on the couch. 1700 hrs: Watch the Hokies mop up the Bearcats, sit on the couch. 2000 hrs: Watch the Rose Bowl. Wanna see Penn State win, probably won't happen, sit on the couch. Any time not filled with hockey and football will be spent playing XBox, and oh yeah, sitting on the couch. I'm actually concerned I could get skin breakdown from sitting on my ass for as long as I plan to today. I'll need to make sure to get up and go to the fridge regularly to avoid bedsores (couchsores?). Anyone else have more ambitious plans than I? Elvisio "no work today for the big E-man" Rodriguez
  3. I have a Best Buy Gift Card from my Christmas stocking and it's burning a hole in my pocket. My thought was to spend WAY more than the card is worth (ergo falling soundly into the trap laid for us by the entire gift card industry) and get an iPod Touch. QUESTION: is the 16Mb version enough for the typical user? Or do I need to sink the extra Benjamin for the 32Mb? The extra memory seems like a good idea but if nobody else is using close to that much then screw it. My plans: music and games. Don't expect to do much movie watching, other than web-based stuff. Thanks! Elvisio "spend my money for me" Rodiguez
  4. No, they just can't drink as much beer as us everyday skydivers! In college I was on the bicycling team; I was 6'2" about 188 pounds (and a double major so I only got to party a nights a month) and my 32 inch waist jeans HANGED off me. I never measured it but I would guess I was around 28-29" in the waist. Now, will I EVER be there again? Well, no. But, that's not the point. Dammit. Elvisio "great picture by the way, new desktop background" Rodriguez
  5. Hubba hubba! Elvisio "see attached" Rodriguez
  6. Sweet: multimillion dollar (I'm guessing here) technology attached to the noggin... 1960's era ripcord in the right hand. Classic! Elvisio "dat's Uncle Sam for you" Rodriguez P.S. The Magnum pilot chutes were fun for watching the noobs pack though!
  7. Beer: Good Car keys: Good Beer and Car keys: Bad Please choose one. Elvisio "your friendly medic and ICU nurse thanks you" Rodriguez
  8. Another thing you can do is go to the FF add-ons page and there's an add-on that does only this one thing. It just essentially clears your cache after each trip online. So nothing pops up when you start typing; but it does keep all your bookmarks and stuff like that. I dunno how I came across this, I just found it under a rock, I swear. Elvisio "still " Rodriguez
  9. Look on the bright side: you have warning. My uncle was in a similar situation a few months ago. He read the writing on the wall, updated his resume, and got his ass out of the frying pan before it got too damn hot. He's doing great now. Start planning ahead: cut costs, start job hunting now. Plan for the worst case: assume you don't find a job in time and start planning on how to make the severance last as long as possible. Elvisio "fat cows, skinny cows" Rodriguez
  10. Ah, that's the sign of a quality product right there baby! "Um, yeah. We made it, and we don't think you should use it." Elvisio "where are the trustbusters when we need 'em" Rodriguez
  11. Corn, raisins, and peanuts: nature's gastrointestinal juggernauts. Elvisio "when did I eat that?" Rodriguez
  12. Well, I will. Whatever happened to the respect for quality work around here? It's like: well, they won't KNOW their reserve is packed like shit, right? Elvisio "still need help" Rodriguez
  13. I need something translated into Latin. I've been online and played with the online translators a little bit. Thing is, I don't know much Latin, but I HAVE seen what an atrocious job the online translators do with English/Spanish stuff and can only assume the English/Latin translations will be as bad. What I'd really like to translate is: "To be the best thing that ever happened to someone on the worst day of their life." It's a bit cumbersome, I know. That being said, I wouldn't mind if we had to hem it down a bit to make it work better (i.e. sound better) in Latin. For example: "To be the best on the worst day." ...or something to that effect. Thanks to all! Elvisio "cogito, ergo sum: I think therefore I do math?" Rodriguez
  14. Only on DZ.com do we get cutsey pictures of kids... ...from a guy with an avatar of a painted ass with a cigarette jammed into it! Elvisio "" Rodriguez
  15. Take everything you ever said on DZ.com, Take everything you've ever done that you talked about on DZ.com, Basically consider the spirit and attitude expressed in any of the community forums... And do the EXACT opposite. You'll do fine. Elvisio "nowhere to go but up" Rodriguez
  16. I'm watching it on DVD right now, and I just wanted to say that DAMMIT I want to be the fourth Hanson brother. I have the size. I have the hair. I can skate (but not as well as them). I like to play a physical game of hockey (fuckin' non-checking leagues). All I need are the horn-rimmed, coke-bottle glasses. Elvisio "hip check" Rodriguez
  17. Draw big square so that it falls from top of screen onto other end of teetertotter (seesaw, whatever). Ball will fly up and make it to goal Elvisio "so much time wasted already" Rodriguez
  18. As is evidenced by the obvious "college kids apartment" in the background of the video... I dunno, I'd just about go back to cans for one of those. My "automated, boobie-breasted beer retreival unit" seemingly broke down right about the time I put the ring on her finger. Elvisio "do they make one for 40s yet" Rodriguez
  19. Ooh, good thread. EVERYTHING. Elvisio "nuff said" Rodriguez
  20. I remember being there for Spring Break one year. Actually me and my crew went there three years straight: same town, same hotel, SAME HOTEL ROOM. Heh, each year we went we could find the scars from our previous years' visit. Now, I hate kids like me. Anyhow, one year in March it was COLD AS BALLS. Temps were in the LOW 40s, dipping into the 30s at night. But dammit, we were on Spring Break! I remember being shirtless on the beach, playing volleyball by the pool, all that good stuff; all the while surely hypothermic from the freezing temps and alcohol. Yes, I know how terribly little this had to do with your OP. It's juat what came to mind when I read it and I got a huge smile. To make this somewhat productive, for as cold as it was that week, I'm sure we still could have jumped, had I had a fucking clue at the time what skydiving was. Elvisio "everyone was cutting glass all week" Rodriguez
  21. The wife and I both agree w/you on this one. Without a doubt the best written and acted character on the show. Yeah, not a critical character, but one that also has been very well acted. The scene with her in the bank blew my mind. Elvisio "thank heaven for on-demand" Rodriguez
  22. I saw this on amazon.com and thought it'd be great for my wife, who is quite possibly single-handedly deforesting our earth with her constant purchases of cheap romance and vampire novels. For the most part, reviews seem to be good. Definitely not without a few shortcomings, and the price is a tad high, but overall I was going to buy one... ...until I noticed the 13 week delay due to them being out of stock. So now I have to decide if I like it enough to shell out the big bucks as well as have her wait until March (or so) to get it. Anyone have one? If so, what are your impressions? Still using it? Or has it found it's way to the bookcase just like the rest of your reading material? Elvisio "damn yule-tide decisions to be made" Rodriguez
  23. Question is, does it really work or (much like a lie-detector) does it just give the IMPRESSION of working, and therefore convince people to tell truths that they otherwise wouldn't tell? Elvisio "we have ways of making you talk" Rodriguez
  24. Also on youtube for those who are anti-wmv. VERY impressive use of technology. A very CYPRES-like leap forward from other current technology. Elvisio "have uses for my fingers" Rodriguez
  25. ... I married mine. or but probably Elvisio "she's got guns, a huge motor, AND she's fun to ride" Rodriguez
