  1. Dude, you must drink five gallons of water a day to prevent kidney failure from all that protein... Elvisio "talk about positive nitrogen balance" Rodriguez
  2. Just a big honkin' BUMP to see if there are any fresh opinions out there. I'm in the same situation as the OP in this three year old post. There are MANY opportunities for flight nurses in the southwest right now. Some of those are in the Phoenix area. I AM worried about making my wife quit her GOOD job to chase a POSSIBLY GOOD job for me. She says she'd follow me anywhere, I'm a very lucky man. I don't want to violate that trust by leading her into a craphole. I've heard from sources (although interestingly enough I couldn't recall any of them other than one) who think Phoenix sucks. I seem to recall them complaining that it was "too much of a big city feel" with crime and gang activity really taking an upswing in the past few years. Any new opinions? Elvisio "Eloy would be sweet, though" Rodriguez
  3. This entire thread bothers me. You do NOT want to see my moobs. I do NOT want you to want to see my moobs. My moobs are solitary creatures, hiding from cameras and all living things other than my wife, who apparently has been blessed with selective blindness. Yeah, it's creepy coming and going. ... I think. Elvisio "that is all" Rodriguez
  4. The place is Da Bomb for breakfast. Not as good as some mom and pop places I've been, but for a chain they do a damn good breakfast. Kind of like Waffle House without the herpes. Next time, go for the biscuits. I agree the cornbread is not all that, but the biscuits are much better. Elvisio "it's all good and it's all bad for you" Rodriguez
  5. No, catch and release. Elvisio "nyuk nyuk nyuk" Rodriguez
  6. Wow. I would have thought otherwise, what with all your AMA connections and whatnot... Elvisio "don't worry, I won't turn you in, for the right price" Rodriguez
  7. The marketing company working for ESPN must be raking it in, and they deserve it. For what seems like forever (twenty years or so?) their ads have been GREAT. They don't always make me ROFL, but just about every one brings a smile to my face. I love how they use the athletes, mascots, and other celebrities. I honestly can say that if ESPN ever made a DVD of the history of their ad campaign and included a bunch of the ads from old to new, I would buy it. Yes, I would pay money for a collection of commercials. I think they're that good. Elvisio "NFL playoffs are here!" Rodriguez
  8. Crap, why would you want to go back to Canada AT ALL? Friggin' snow in July.... AND to stay on post: I'm in the clear. They had NO information at all on Elvisio Rodriguez... Elvisio "need to work on my image" Rodriguez
  9. I have been listening to this song quite a bit lately. I know I'm not as old as some on the board, but at the age of 36 I'm (finally) beginning to get in touch with my own mortality. As I find myself trudging ever onward in my current struggle to meet my next life goal (flight nursing) the song gives me two separate and in some ways contradictory feelings: 1.) Life is short, get your ass in gear and meet your goals while you can; and 2.) The search for happiness over the next horizon is fruitless. Find happiness where you are, it's the only way you'll ever be able to enjoy it. I guess his death just adds to the emotional befuddlement I feel when I hear the song... Elvisio "btw the original is way better than the Foo Fighters version you young wippersnappers have heard first" Rodriguez
  10. I am happy I'm not the only one who thought the same thing when I saw the numbers. I've always been tempted to play the LOST numbers but have decided not to since I'm sure there are TONS of LOST fans out there that do the same and if the numbers ever did come in you'd end up sharing with too many others. Elvisio "not a single damn number of mine came in" Rodriguez
  11. ...two cans and a piece of string? Elvisio "see, your situation isn't so bad after all" Rodriguez
  12. TTIWWP Elvisio "Have I taught you NOTHING?" Rodriguez P.S. Except for mutumbo and his boxers.
  13. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Elvisio "getting that off my chest" Rodriguez
  14. And vote with your dollars and your feet. Vacation locally if you can. Drive anywhere you can. Make sure the above people and the airlines are aware of your decisions. Elvisio "I know, I know, easier said than done" Rodriguez

    Tron

I absolutely agree! The soundtrack was massive. ETA: this is one of the biggest regrets I have from the movie. I went to see it in our ratty local theater, saving myself the 1.5 hour roundtrip to the nearest "new" theater. Ergo, I had to experience the soundtrack in a theater with virtually no bass. Needless to say, I'm currently downloading the soundtrack and will shortly be burning a copy to take down to the sub-equipped Jeep... I enjoyed the movie as a fan of the original Tron. I enjoyed the "new and improved" takes on elements of the old movie. And, corny though they may have been, I really got a kick out of lines from the old movie being dropped into the new. I really liked how they used the old lines in new context. There were also a lot of new lines that caught my ear, but I was so engrossed I haven't been able to remember any of them. All the more reason to go see it again. The plot was pretty predictable, but that's OK. There was plenty of eyecandy for both sexes, the visual composition was great, and I loved the way the movie took me back into a world that always makes me smile. In summary: if you're a Tron fan, definitely go. If you're too young to remember the original, sit it out and wait for Blu-Ray. Elvisio "Gem and Quorra were super hot, and the light fighters were the bomb" Rodriguez edit to spell Quorra right...
  16. Dude, don't let Nina get wet. Ride her up the stairs a-la Animal House before they make you evacuate if that's what it takes. Elvisio "I gave my love a cherry that had no stone" Rodriguez
  17. He he he... I was just about to comment along the lines of "I don't have one but somebody in the Lisbeth Salander thread uses one." Then I checked to see who it was in that other thread... and it was you. So, apparently, just you so far. How is it? Elvisio "glad I checked" Rodriguez
  18. On topic: I hate the winter. I was raised in Erie, PA and the amount of winter I can survive is formidable. The amount of winter I enjoy is, due to a saturation of winter weather in my childhood, painfully small. I'm in Virginia now and it's still too damn far north. Off topic/on side topic: IMO, 4WD>FWD>RWD in the snow, but I think modern vehicles (regardless of drive configuration) can handle MUCH more winter weather than their drivers can. People just don't want to slow down. At all. Take your time, and drive in a manner the conditions will allow. Problems arise when the conditions don't mesh with the driver's schedule. The driver chooses their schedule over the conditions, and the conditions win all the time. Elvisio "Me likey 4LO" Rodriguez
  19. I'm intrigued by the fact that, from where the video was shot, nobody appears injured and all the vehicles seem driveable. Also, the road downhill seems to be a bit more passable. If there was time and opportunity (i.e. a safe interval in the hail of skidding cars) to move the vehicles once they settled, they could eliminate the "sudden stop at the end" and afford skidding cars more time to regain control. I know that such a pile-up requires a LOT of information sharing (b/c heaven forbid you don't provide the name and insurance information for every vehicle involved or driver who was even in the same ZIP code at the time of the accident) but doing so with the vehicles in a safer location seems to make sense. Elvisio "just a thought, albeit easy for me to say from my warm couch far far away" Rodriguez

Reviews so far seem decent. I expect fans of the original will enjoy it more than those too young to have been fascinated by the first film. Yes, I'm old. Right now, it's looking like it'll be the 3D version, matinee, with the requisite insanely over-priced grease-laden popcorn, on Wednesday 12/22. If I dig it, I might see if the father-in-law wants to go see it in IMAX 3D when I'm visiting after Christmas. Anybody in the Tampa area able to recommend one IMAX theater over the other two? Elvisio "when being a user isn't a bad thing" Rodriguez
  21. /thread. Holy CRAP! That is awesome. Some of the other songs he plays are awesome too... Elvisio "needed him to play the Canon at our wedding" Rodriguez
  22. Your translation services are much appreciated, sir. Elvisio "need to work on my English english" Rodriguez
  23. Crisps? Dripping? Scran? Man, I love reading posts by you English blokes. It's like reading something written in code. Back on topic: one of the previous posts made the point: the potato exists for only one reason: to be a delivery mode for grease. In that regard, the tater tot and deep-fried hashbrown (moreso than the pan-fried variety) are the summit of perfection: their increased surface area to volume ratio maximizes their delivery of grease to my gullet. Elvisio "thank you for listening to me use scientific mumbojumbo to validate my poor diet" Rodriguez
  24. Winner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0fCnf8uWxw&feature=related Elvisio "EDIT: got so excited I forgot to sign my shit" Rodriguez
  25. Holy Crap this is really weird. Elvisio "new take on Christmas for sure" Rodriguez
