Immigrating to NZ to do tandems, info plz if you've done it
AdD replied to AdD's topic in Instructors
Hi boys and girls, I am graduating university this May and am thinking about where I go from here. I have a job offer doing tandems and video for the summer, after which I should have the 1000 jumps required to head to a NZ dz for awhile. I'd like info from people who've done this, was it hard to get a visa or green card, what challenges did you face etc? Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream -
Question about working for a drop zone.
AdD replied to scuba5k's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Dude, I was in your shoes a few years ago, with 6 jumps I moved to a dz for the summer and left with 154 I think. You will not make enough money for anything except skydiving working on a dropzone, that includes food most likely, I think I lost 10lb. Also I was able to borrow gear for a long time from friends and lived on their couch. I suggest you get a real job during the week. If you are in manifest at most dz's you won't jump much, I worked manifest but I was also involved in packing and video sales. It is a fun time but if you are serious about the sport you should bust your ass 9-5 at a real job and hit the dz after work and on the weekends. You will get just as many jumps and still be able to afford food, women, etc. Good luck. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream -
The coach course should teach you how to learn new skills even quicker and more thoroughly by being an active participant in the experience. It is valuable even if you never deal with a single novice I think. Teaching someone to track and then having them leave you in the dust wondering what just happened is a strange yet rewarding experience! I find it's best to launch with your head to the relative wind and use the AC to start your spin, keeping your arms and legs tight to the body, then to stop it open up your stance. This looks really nice with a transition to sit. See Good Stuff Flyboy's segment. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

To the ppl re:cost of the subsidy, I believe this is a multilateral (gasp) agreement and the US will not bear the total cost. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

I love to see fast cutaways, especially when it's one of your students having a malfunction. There aren't many ppl dying from reserve mals with clean chops to my knowledge. My only mal was a blowout of a cell when I had low #'s, it wasn't even spinning. I'm really glad I did EPs without f'n around in that case. I don't like the alternative of waiting too long with spinning stuff either, I've come out of line twists low enough that I probably should have chopped. Not a good time. Hey Dude, I've jumped a few times in cookstown, not to mention jumping many of joes planes at other dz's, missed the dash-8 though, damn. Nice video for sure, keep up the good work. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

Sunglasses and kneeflying don't mix, learned the hard way. I wouldn't wear anything up there which cost more than $10, preferably free. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

there's plenty of oil + natural resources to last us centuries
AdD replied to skinnyflyer's topic in Speakers Corner
Well in case you hadn't noticed, North American natural gas and oil production have already peaked, and are trending downward. The rest of the world? I sure hope we are not at the maximum number of barrels of oil which can be produced per year, but it doesn't look good. Nobody who has a clue thinks there's enough oil to last centuries at current consumption rates. You don't even understand the question let alone the answer. Hydrogen cars a joke, there simply isn't nearly enough platinum produced each year to retrofit any significant percentage of the world's autombiles, not to mention the dreary net energy picture. There will never be enough of them to have an impact on global water vapor. I think the only scalable transportation fuel alternative is biodiesel made from massive algae ponds in the desert. Well the new HC-5 and HC-7 are up for sale on Sony.com
AdD replied to markovwgti's topic in Photography and Video
I am curious about using the HC-5 or 7 for tandem video and stills. I hope you guys who are getting one right away post your impressions of it here. I'm curious about the lanc port issue, shutter switch vs cameye? It would seem like one would have to be left off. Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream -
