  1. Yeah. Because the LAST thing you want gun owners to require is patience. What a fucking ridiculous idea! It’s hilarious, isn’t it??? NEED. GUNS. NOW!!!!!
  2. It’s a pain in the arse for your particular situation and I understand your frustration, but you can see the idea behind requiring a real address rather than a PO Box to buy a firearm, surely? Rather than going to the DMV (which is second only to root canal surgery in pain) call your utility providers and ask them to mail you a physical copy of the bill. It came in 2 days last time I did that. Do you really need a gun quicker than that?
  3. I can’t help but think that one of the reasons science is so mistrusted is because of the language it uses. I’ve got a science degree and even I’m tuning out halfway through that title. I get that it’s written for other scientists but there needs to be a halfway house to engage more people - A language that describes methods for the specialist, but defines the problem and the conclusions in a way the lay person can understand EASILY. Otherwise 3rd parties pass on the information with their own spin or it just gets ignored completely. It’a marketing problem.
  4. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50340989 “Billionaire businessman Michael Bloomberg is considering entering the race for the US Democratic Party's presidential nomination.” Interesting and worrying that he thinks (as I do) that none of the current DNC hopefuls are strong enough to beat Trump. I’d be concerned about his age, but as someone who has been with both parties it would be great to hear Bloomberg’s policies - you’d hope it would be a bit more centrist than anyone else in contention and that’s exactly what we need.
  5. My understanding is that these are open and public hearings that anyone can watch live. So surely it’s just as likely that Fox will he reporting on them a CNN? Not sure I see your (or his) point?
  6. What’s fucked up is that we’re thinking ‘MIGHT’ it be true??? How’s that a reflection on our government? As much as Obama was despised by some here a story like this simply wouldn’t have the same believability.
  7. San Diego. We’ve got a protected open space mountain directly behind us and this guy has been coming and going for the last 6 months or so. I figured I’d move a couple of my cameras to try and catch some shots of him. The video is attached. BE28C057-3B27-4063-A9AD-7681194830AC.mp4
  8. Just a couple of days ago Trump was gloating at a rally stating that Beto 'quit like a dog' from a primary race. What kind of LOSER doesn't have the fucking stones to try and see a presidential race through?? You know, just like Trump did in 2000 with the Reform party.
  9. That's why I think it's more useful for the 'not community' forums. Those are skill and experience specific. In here, I can get drunk and be an asshole without worrying that it'll kill someone.
  10. Stream midget porn. Less data.
  11. If used properly the rep system can be a valid forum tool, allowing easy identification of useful posts or posters. See Reddit for example. In this board all of the sub forums are specialties themselves and so (IMO) should have individualized reputation scores. A recently graduated student may well have absolutely fantastic posts in General Skydiving or Safety and Training for another beginner in progressing or facing mental challenges, but they have absolutely no place being seen as an expert to another newbie in the Gear and Rigging forum, for example. Both of those are under the wider 'Skydiving' topic. I suspect it doesn't have a place in Speakers Corner. It's just too easy for it to be a 'vote for people with the same viewpoint as you' tool, rather than a 'this is a really interesting / well thought out post' one.
  12. It’s becoming clear that EVERYTHING is for the party, comrade. Representatives from a different party are no longer simply colleagues with a different view on how best to serve the country, they’re the enemy. And the enemy must always be resisted, at any cost. And if you agree with them, ever, then YOU must be the enemy.
  13. Fine. Lets say that in this hypothetical situation the event happens on the first day of a presidency and we'd rather not wait 4 years for an election. What I'm trying to understand is do the elected officials have any driving responsibility to vote according to evidence presented? Do they even have to consider it? Is there any consequence for someone who didn't turn up to a hearing, never looked at or listened to evidence and simply voted the way their party tells them to? I suspect there isn't, and when you realize that it kind of makes the entire process not only utterly pointless, but also completely self-serving. That should be the news story, not the inevitable failed impeachment process.
  14. As expected the first vote is proceeding directly along party lines which depresses the hell out of me. But it got me thinking - if there was hypothetically a situation that was so blatent, so obviously and provably illegal that impeachment hearings proceeded and one party simply refused to vote for it, is there any recourse? Are those officials putting their party ahead of the law and the country?
  15. It sounds like media-speak from North Korea. All you'd need to add would be 'and his family has been sent for re-education'.
  16. They only answer you’ll ever get is ‘Hillary was worse’
  17. As opposed to 3 or 4 states that have fewer actual people which is what we have now?? and here’s a video explaining why the ‘few big cities decide everything’ argument is simply wrong. The math doesn’t add up. And a good qualifying follow-up video:
  18. Trump made unrealistic promises because he's a con man (and good at it), but I suspect a lot of Trump voters voted the way they did because they were fed up of being called stupid, ignorant, dumb, deplorable or whatever else the left called them, because, well, just fuck you*. If you're going to call me stuff like that I'll vote against you just to piss you off. *'you' being used in the broader sense, not specifically against the poster
  19. But it doesn't matter, does it?? This retort that Dems have been making is so much self-pitying wankery... As long as the electoral college exists the 'more people voted for' argument is useless. So WHAT if 'more people' voted for Clinton? That's not the way the system works. Get over it or change it. More people in the states that historically MATTER voted for Trump. And personally, I believe that in those particular states, part of the reason Trump won was that Clinton was a woman. It's not all of the reason, but I think it's a part of it so unfortunately in the current world we live in a woman candidate is going to have to more 'excellent' than a male one. It's not right. It's not fair. But play the game as it exists, not as you wish it did. I have stated before that I would stand for basically ANY candidate that ran on a policy of abolishing the Electoral College for exactly this reason.
  20. The rep should be forum specific. Just because someone gets lots of likes in the General skydiving forum doesn't mean they should be listened to in the Tandem Instructors one, for example.
  21. If he's done something illegal then impeachment absolutely IS the answer. If you let him get away with it he'll do worse next time or another president will, and I'd say the same regardless of what president it was. At the same time as that we should find better candidates. The two should happen in parallel.
  22. Johnathan Pie said similar about 3 years ago. The more I watch this video the more apt it becomes as we move toward another election and the more I think it's going to happen again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLG9g7BcjKs&t=310s
  23. Tump's utterly baffling self-congratulation speech yesterday in which he systematically destroys every point he makes.
