  1. Hey Jerry, The sensationalism of the news is a real problem, IMO. BUT Inaccurate news is very different to fake news. I would love to see some sort of penalization system for news outlets that propagate stories before they can verify / analyze them. The media ‘holding politicians accountable’ is all very well but who’s doing the same to them? Quid custodiet ipsos custodes and all that.
  2. No matter how much you shake it the last drop always goes down your leg?
  3. What? Which laws of hydrodynamics are you referring to, exactly?
  4. Trump State Media, comrade! It's the future!
  5. Only according to your morals. She's made a value proposition as to how she wants to live her life and she's doing that. I don't think that's an example of 'society crumbling'. In fact it's evidence of good financial prioritization. I'd agree that if she's going around randomly having unprotected sex and then having an abortion it's pretty callous, but it's still a completely valid choice, and it's hers to make. Men also tend to forget that abortions carry risk with having them carried out. Particularly more than one. Women don't go around having them the way you'd thoughtlessly take ibuprofen for a hangover...
  6. Who's that? I didn't really know him. I think he fetched the tea, so I have no idea what he's talking about. FAKE NEWS!!!
  7. You've never heard of this? It's not that uncommon. As Wendy says, sometimes it's user error, and sometimes you just get unlucky.
  8. What’s wrong with not wanting the responsibility? You say this like it’s some sort of awful thing. When I was 22 a condom split. We absolutely weren’t ready for a child, hence the condom. KNOWING that, she took the morning after pill. (Is that an abortion?) That is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. And it is wholly linked to not wanting the responsibility.
  9. No question. True. Trump is always out for what benefits him. ALWAYS. He can never not be a salesman. Anyone remember when the presidency used to have, you know, dignity?
  10. Reading that article there are some discrepancies. Some people said that it was the 'use of a bomb' but the word nuclear was never mentioned. That there could be variance in the people saying it happened like that makes me question the truth of it because there's no possible way to verify the story. I don't know Axios. I've no idea how reliable they are. Either way, I seriously hope it isn't true. I can absolutely believe Trump would want to set off a nuclear device during his presidency though. Just to say he did.
  11. I agree. How would it possibly work? The woman wants an abortion and the guy wants to keep the baby so the woman is forced to carry a foetus? It's not even remotely feasible. What about the other way around? The woman wants to keep it but the guy wants an abortion so he gets total say over what happens with another persons' body? Again, utter nonsense. As there is no possible way for the man to 'have a choice' then it's dangerous to even bring it up. The guy DOES have a choice. It comes before having unprotected sex. After that it's not up to him and shouldn't be.
  12. As much of a hard-on as he's got for nuclear weapons I've got to think that even he's not that monstrously idiotic. Plus there's not been any reports of hurricanes that I've seen lately, so given his picosecond attention span it seems unlikely that he would pull this out out of thin air. Threatening to nuke China if they put tarrifs on American goods? I could see him saying that.

This is why I loathe religion. It’s the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card.
  14. I suspect it’s much more complicated to be honest. Politicians dumb it down for us because firstly they don’t understand it themselves, and secondly they can make it a political talking point. ’Im going to leave economics to the several dozen people in the world who really understand it’ isn’t an electable position.
  15. Or an an actual real understanding of economics.

*facepalm Unbelievable racism aside, does she think that only Americans are white? How the fuck have these people stealthed their way into office?
  17. They won'b be baffled. They'll refuse to see it as an issue or they'll blame the Democrats. It can't ever possibly be anything to do with the guy they elected. Far easier to deny it or blame it on someone else rather than take responsibility.

    BAN GARLIC

NRA’s new slogan should be ‘Only Thing That Stops A Bad Guy With A Gun Is A Good Guy With A Gun or a Telephone’ https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49431699 /tongue in cheek In all seriousness it’s great that this guy was identified before he possibly went postal, which feeds into the crowdsourcing control idea I had some time ago, but there are some serious limitations to this as a solution. How many erroneous tips would the police get each day? Do we have the infrastructure to support properly investigating all of them and do we want to live in a society where reporting your neighbors / colleagues is the norm? It’s all a bit 1984 for comfort.
  19. One of my Danish friends put it well. 'Good. No one here wanted the fucker visiting anyway.'
  20. I’m sure they’re absolutely gutted about that.

You’ve met my in-laws? Small world. edit: In all seriousness, if there’s one thing I think Trump’s presidency has done that’s good is that it’s made it very obvious that all isn’t necessarily as we thought. I don’t LIKE it, but I prefer knowing who among my friends hold opinions I despise.
  22. Every benefit is temporary because the fuel itself will run out. If your objective is to make as much money as possible while it does that then don’t spend on anything else and just keep hiking the price as the commodity gets scarcer. Fuck everyone when I’m dead. They’ll figure it out. But if you have ANY concern for people down the line you have to use the boom time to cover the cost of what’s going to happen when fossil fuels either run out or become non-profitable to extract. Would you prefer starting the investigation of an entirely new form of energy from scratch rather than backing renewables? How about them there ‘dilithium’ crystals. I’m sure we can make those work. SOMETHING has to replace fossil fuels at some point. If you can’t agree with that then you’re living in a world where cause / effect has different rules than the ones I’m used to.
  23. Because he's got money invested in fossil fuels would be my g Fine. Support building the infrastructure to level the playing field then and quit bitching about subsidies for one but not the other in the meantime. You continue to compare the results of an industry that's had over 200 years to develop to one that's had 20. Coal is cheap (sort of not really) because all of the economy has been built around it. I know you understand economies of scale. In another 200 years do you really think we'll still be using coal and oil as our main energy supply?

What your country is has changed via the democratic process. You haven't. I suspect that's the root cause of your issues. You'd be perfectly happy if American society was as it was in the 50's.
  25. You’d think there would have been a bunch of other high profile arrests before that happened. The police would need to arrest the people Epstein implicated, build a case against then file charges before letting him walk, I’d imagine. I don’t think you get put into witness protection just for giving a story.
