I'm running Windows Server 2003 that connects to several laptops and synchronizes offline files between the clients and server. In the case of one user, when they synchronize after working offline, the message "Unable to merge offline files on \\\. The parameter is incorrect" appears, and any files that have been worked on while offline are deleted. Heeeeelp! As far as I can see, (google) that error message relates to Client Side Caching corruption on Windows 2000. What can keep causing this corruption? I've tried a clean reinstall from the client side and the same thing happens. Can one file be causing this? any information, suggestions, magic beans or solutions would be gladly received. Edit... oh, the client is running XP with all the lastest updates.

Was the student seen to be in control of their parachute? I ask because I've seen a S/L student get lost for 4 hours after a complete brain lock - no imputs at all... just flew off into the distance and haze. They landed safely a couple of miles away and then just sat in a field for hours and cried.

In order to post in the reviews section, there needs to be a heading for it to go under.... fortunately, now there is.

Smoking in 'enclosed public spaces'. Legal or Illegal?
yoink replied to yoink's topic in Speakers Corner
That's why there's so much argument - another (equally valid) point of view would be that just because you smoke and drink, doesn't mean that I should have to... -
Smoking in 'enclosed public spaces'. Legal or Illegal?

Not yet - it will become so at some point in the near future. The legislation is being rolled in over a 4 year period. doh... my bad. Both on that, an on just seeing the other thread on the subject! -
Smoking in 'enclosed public spaces'. Legal or Illegal?
yoink replied to yoink's topic in Speakers Corner
As some may know, it's now illegal to smoke in any enclosed public area which serves or prepares food in the UK. Many people think the ban hasn't gone far enough, while just as many are crying out at a percieved abuse of civil liberties... so where do you stand? For what it's worth, I'm an ex smoker who whole heartedly agrees with the ban on smoking in public for several reasons... 1) It's a shit load easier to stop smoking if it's banned in pubs / clubs. I think we'll see an increased number of people stopping as a result. This can only be beneficial for the nations health. 2) As smokers cry about their civil liberties abuse, they seem to forget that non-smokers have the right not to be poisoned in public. The issue of liberties doesn't exist in a 'smokers only' vacuum. I've got some more, but am too busy to type.... I suspect we'll see non-smokers and ex-smokers poll for 'Illegal' above, but it'll be interesting to see the results. so... -
No. I'm not.... YAY!

Hey Mac, firstly (and don't take this the wrong way ) you do seem to get wound up pretty easy - be careful not to lose your temper with your employers or then they really will have a case against you!

well if people will pick a hotel that has "2 minutes from airport!" as a selling point, it's really no surprise to find you might get just a little aircraft noise, is it? on the other hand, it's a plane spotters dream come true! and a v cool video as well...

It sucks... but isn't that uncommon for a SL student in the UK to sit around all day. To answer your first question easily, phone the other DZ. Each have different rules about accepting students from other training centres, but I wouldn't bet on being able to do a DP straight off - I'd think they'd want to see a good SL first but I might be wrong on that though, so give them a call first. There are other options that may be worth investigating, such as finishing your course abroad if you're in a rush. Getting qualified over winter in the UK can be a bit of a nightmare.

holy crap... where to start??? "please can you introduce me to your group of friends so I can get thousands of dollars worth of freebies from them for nothing? No... they won't be unhappy with the deal. Honest. They'll thank you for it... and then me, you and my new boy-bitch can see each other all the time, at work and at the dz, just like we've always wanted to..." just tell her that all the blokes at your dz are gay and that keeping current costs $1000 a month which she'll have to pay for... that'll do it despite that, I agree with Tonto - she sounds like she's got that skydiver attitude already...

I've thought the same thing a couple of times, but then I saw a vid of a really bad student. They were hauling ass across the sky and the videoman did well to run away. I'm not sure if I could got out of the way if I was in the area have after having seen the video... I have since decided it'd suck to have a collision with my mate, her instructors and myself on her AFF jumps and will let her go up on her own... there'll be loads of time to jump after she gets her A...

Phoenix Fly Pants are a revolutionary new BASE & skydiving track pants design. Using ram air technology, this unique design of the leg air inlet and the ''bootie hook'' will help to offer the jumper a level of performance that has yet to be attained. Phoenix-fly Pants allow the jumper to track faster and flatter and to fly further than ever before. This smart design provides quick pressurizing in order to form an increased smooth and rigid surface on the legs. Phoenix Fly Pants are designed to be worn over your harness leg straps, thus creating an even larger and smoother surface. The "bootie hook" feature provides additional tension on the legs to help keep proper form and shape of the pants during the jump. This advanced feature helps the jumper to adjust the length of the pants to the length of his own legs without restricting freedom of movement in any way. PF Pants are made from Zero Porosity material. The buttocks and knee area are reinforced for increased durability. The zipper on the inside of the Pant's leg makes it easier to get in and out of them without the jumper having to remove their footwear. This makes PF Pants really 'user friendly'.
