Visualisation sorts it for me - especially after a layoff. Before you get in the plane or get your gear on, take 10 minutes to find a quiet spot, sit down and visualise the entire skydive, from boarding the plane to landing. Start with a good skydive, then once you're happy with that, visualise some that encompass problems and how you deal with them. Move your hands andd arms as though you were going through your EPs. Get geared up, get on the plane and use the plane ride to go throught the 'good' skydive again. If that's the last thing you've thought of in the plane before you exit, you're more likely to perform that way. That's my way of dealing with it anyway - I think it's a familiarity thing. If your brain feels like it's just made 3 jumps in the last 10 minutes, it's less likely to be nervous about this one!

We have loads of reviews for individual gear, but how about a section to review the manufacturers themselves. It'd consolidate the threads like the Kurupree one and the new Wings one and allow potential customers to get an easy idea of the people they'd be dealing with - especially with the ranking system, by amalgamating all the info in one place.

Can you explain what you mean when you say you "got the toggle"? are you referring to the hackey? semantics - sometimes in the UK the hackey is referred to as the toggle, especially if it's one of those short lengths of pipe.

sounds interesting. Any ideas who's operating it or who the instructors might be? ooo... a dz less than 20 minutes away. Result! Edit: where did you hear this from?

Not being allowed to jump at that DZ again is up to the CCI - Fine. It's their decision. I have no big problem with that and I accept your first argument about cost in bringing the plane down. However, telling the student that they will never be able to take a course again anywhere and will never be able to get insured is simply lying and should not be tolerated. It's scare tactics and is way out of order in my opinion.
-
That's bollocks for a start. Jumping is your decision. No instructor or DZ I know would penalise you for deciding not to do it. They'd rather you rode the plane down than force you out and find out then that you're not ready... Find a new DZ would be my advice. There are loads of Brits on here who you can ask for opinions about the different DZs in your area.
