  1. HIM!! HIM!! FUCK HIM!!
  2. Do you really let go of your control lines under canopy?
  3. Both times were with experienced (A license) jumpers jumpers on student gear (> 200 PD nine cells) spiraling at or near 1000 ft.
  4. I have seen student gear fire the CyPReS fire while spiraling at least twice.
  5. You should have no problem getting a license as long as you know an S&TA. As for finances, LEARN TO PACK. If you have your own gear, packing two tandems is a skydive, Packing 4 sport rigs = a skydive.
  6. Just me. I am very proud of my humility. In fact, I think it is my humility that makes me so much better than the rest of you guys
  7. If you mean the little plastic one that came with the rig, a good place for it is the back of the bottom drawer in the kitchen cabinet.
  8. BSR guidelines for wing loading is a truly good idea. That falls in line with the USPA's objective of promoting safe skydiving without regulation. But we need a lot more than that. Any one with 500 jumps can still kill themselves with a 1.5 wingloading. We need a training program that specificallyaddresses canopy control, and a rating system. I don't mean manufactures or gear stores need to check some ones ratings, but a rating system for canopy flight would encourage people to get the ratings (and associated training)
  9. Not in reply to any paticular post, but I wonder if a hard toggle turn could have initiated line twists? If she had done a hard toggle turn and then as a result of the line twists not been able to release the brake?
  10. I've seen this happen with a guy just off student status. He was putting the rig on and I asked "Hey guy what are you doing?" He said somthing like just going up and getting out and I said you should probably get a rig with a rip cord, then explained why a statis line would be hard to use.
  11. I had one on jump 119. It was a body position issue. I threw the pilot chute and it wrapped around my foot. Some how the bag cleared the container but the last two line stows didn't release. The funny thing about this is that over the previous few months, there had been a rash of horseshoe malfunctions leading to the deaths of three skydivers, two of them very experienced. A more experienced jumper had told me to pull the cutaway handle then pull the three ring assembly away from your shoulders to turn the horseshoe into a streamer. I pulled the cutaway handle and then made some effort to release my three rings. I was getting close to 1000 feet and pulled the reserve handle. I had a hell of a lot of line twists on my reserve. I guess the reserve was bumping against the main d bag while deploying. Finally got the reserve line twists out about 50 feet and landed next to a runway as a jet was taking off. The pilot chute was still wrapped around my feet when I landed so i PLFed.
  12. Sent an email. Mt thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and Chris
  13. 12/26/1998 Maricopa, AZ Description: An experienced jumper gave his mother a tandem for Christmas. He filmed it. At pull time he found himself "next to the drogue". He hit the deploying main and became wrapped in it. He worked his way out of the mess but snagged a line with his foot. As he fell clear, the line broke and he hit the Tandem pair. He continued in freefall and deployed his main. He landed safely. The tandem master and possibly the passenger were knocked out. The tandem slowly spun into the ground. The Tandem Master is alive and in the hospital. The passenger (mother) was killed.
  14. Never mind. I found the answer on the web page (DOH!!)
  15. Well it's battery time again. My astra light stays a steady 'on' instead of the quick blinking it normally does after calibration. Some people have said that it is a wise idea to leave it off until I get new batteries, others say it will not make any difference. Anybody here have a definitive opinion? My next repack won't be for another few weeks anyway. (Yes I will jump without it)
  16. If it really is so big, why is you nm de plume misterhand?
  17. Of course the down side to this is we will have to stuff jumptickets into thier g strings
  18. Doesn't FAR part 105 say all intentional parachute jumps must be done with a piggy back reserve system? That would exclude most base rigs. Skydive Myrtle Beach (which is nowhere near Myrtle Beach) requires jumpers under 500 jumps to restrict wing load to 1.4 or less.
  19. Does anyone know if Blue Sky Adventures in Saint George SC will have the Cinco de Mayo boogie? Thier web page is broken.
