What Will YOU do with YOUR tax Return?!?!!?!?!
freeflygoddess replied to Unstable's topic in The Bonfire
Why didn't you spend it doing something with your son? Just a question... I still have yet to hear if I am getting my return, they are holding it since my ex claimed me and both of our kids on his taxes...he was only alowed one of them. They withheld it because he filed first, so he got all of his, and what I should have gotten. So I had to send in copies of our divorce papers and poof that we didn't live together at all in 2003 and proff that both kids lived with me....doesn't it suck to do what you are suppose to only to find out that since I filed second I get all the blame. I doubt they give me my return, until they take it all back from him or whatever....stupid IRS. -
just wondering if there are any updates? Is USPA getting involved or the FAA? What happend to the Rancher? Is the injured jumper ok?

Ok I have a question for those riggers out there. My reserve was packed on December 11th and so it is up on April 9th. However, I am pregant now and the fatigue has set in and I have grounded myself until after I have my baby(ies). So my question is, can I skip repacking it until I am going to jump again? If so, would it be a good idea while I am not jumping to send off my canopies to PD for check ups, or can my local rigger, who just now got his master rigger do it?

well for the next six months or so I am grounded due to a bun in the oven....so my goal is to try and not make my self so worried about when I do go back to jumping that I freak out completly.... Next Question: Who is your hero?

No kiding! I hope I never end up like that either. I still have so much to learn and really I think everyone does. It doesn't matter how many jumps you have there is always something else to try, even if you have to make it up yourself. I think that if someone can firgure out how to help big fat pregnant women fly on thier heads and land softly and safely and also keep the fatigue and morning sickness away then they might know everything.....If so PM me ASAP, cause this long wait for me is killing me and it has only been since Monday since I jumped last....and now that I know I wont be in the air until atleast Ocotber, possiablly November it's killing me and scareing me to death, since I have been use to jumping every weekend.

yeah, but doing both has caused me to retire from jumping for the next six months....Well at least six weeks after the end of August, as long as he/she/they are on time!

Should parents be allowed to pierce their babies' ears?
freeflygoddess replied to lewmonst's topic in Speakers Corner
exactly! I was pierced as an infant too, and I don't remember any of it, and for the past three years I haven't worn any earings and the back part of my holes grew over, but last week I repierced them myself, and it hurt a bit, but not as bad as having a baby. I thought about piercing my daughter's ears, but they say it is best to do it when they are little enough to not know they are there then now at the age of two, because she will just mess with them, so it will be her choice to do it....However, on the other hand, I chose to have my son circumsised and I am very glad that I did, it just seems safer and cleaner to me. -
you make a seperate log book for your unborn baby and see that he/she has enough jumps for at least an A but could get their B before your third trimester and you have to stop....not that I am doing that or anything...well ok I am

What about putting USPA license number under your name where the ranks use to be?

Considerations when chopping a rental canopy
freeflygoddess replied to Nightingale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I for one, don't give a rats ass about rental gear compaired to my life. I am not just thinking about me, but my kids and boyfriend and my family. I wouldn't even think about it ever, just do it. Same with my own gear. I am sure that the place that I rented from would understand more if I had and yet didn't have the money, but could work it off. I think they would rather have a missing main and freebag than bloody gear and cut up chest and leg straps. -
Rental rig reserve repack...
freeflygoddess replied to skybytch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think it should be included in the price of rent, because you might have that one student or jumper, who uses it might at that all important moment think; "Oh man this is going to coast me a fortune to have repacked, after I all ready paid to rent it." and he/she night not chop it and now you got blood stains and cut-up chest and leg straps...Of course if people thought like that then maybe they shouldn't be jumping in the first place...but I am talking about the most people who rent gear and the most are students and those just off of student status. -
Great Idea fishey! Hey you need to call me btw, I don't have your new number, and I know I put mine on your voice mail...

Closing in on SKYDIVE #1000...what kind of skydive should I do?
freeflygoddess replied to maxmadmax's topic in The Bonfire
Hybrid for sure -
I love all the DZs I have been to all have their pluses and minuses...I went through AFF at Coolidge, and I finished my A at Eloy, both were great. Since then I have been to Buckeye and now that I live in Cali I have been to Perris and Taft, I visited Elsinore, but haven't jumped there yet. I love them all. I guess it just depends on what mood I am in and what family I want to see, when I jump; or how far I want to drive....I call them all home because I have family at all of them....my sky family that is.

How many can actually pack?
freeflygoddess replied to Kat1221's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do know how to pack, and have before, but after my knee surgery, I am unable to. It puts too much presure on my knee, however, it hasn't even been a year yet, so that might have something to do with it...of course now that I am ust to useing packers, I am not sure if I want to pack again...lol...Esp right now....pregnant belly gets in the way... -
I actually am going to be taking on of Jim Slaton's courses out here in Perris, after the 15th, that is going to be my birthday present to myself. I will let you all know how that goes. Kathryn

yeah but do they do tend to be a bit biased on their canopy...I want some real life info. Do they have anything in the SIM about the differences of the canopies? What changes in the canopy with this wing loading versus that canopy with the sme wing loading. Basically, I am looking for why this happens and not so much why this canopy is better. Like why does the air stay inside a cross-braced and wht difference is a cross-braced vs an air lock? Why is the air locked said to be somewhat safer? Why is an eliptical canopy more dangerous than one that isn't? I know it is aand that it dives faster, but why? Why? I feel like my two year old....
-
Good for you! I wish that all instructors would do this. I remember when I was a student, I was told just to go out and watch them come in. No one explained to my that they didn't flare all the way, because of their canopy, in fact no one really explained to me the differnt types of canopies and what their pluses and negatives are. Shit I am figuring it out for the most part on my own, and I still find things confusing, like my Sabre is way differnt than the Sabre2 I know that, but why? And what about that Fusion I demoed? I loved that canopy, but it is suppose to be just like a Sabre2, but I noticed a big difference myself flying them...maybe it was the lines, because they were different, or maybe just the fact that they are infact made differntly...What about a Cobalt and a Stiletto? And a Vengance? Or a Xaos 21 and 27, yeah I know one has 21 cells and the oter has 27, but why does that make a difference.... Maybe I should go around looking for a real canopy class...not just how to fly one. Like a canopy engineering class or something...

What is your favorite skydiving web site?

Dumbest thing you did skydiving
freeflygoddess replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just wanted to agree and point this out again, just incase someone skipped reading it the first time. If you actually touched that hacky/pud or whatever...and nothing happens...cut away any ways...you never know. Someone had a pull out and nothing happend, but when he went straight to that reserve instead of chopping, which is what many think to do, but what happend? his reserve released presure on his main and poof out comes the main as well. Not a pretty sight to see. I know people want to argue this point and say end the skydive, but if you think about it really, in my opinion, wouldn't it be better to have to go searching for that main after chopping, if it does fall out, then having to deal with two out? Which most of the time who wins that war? -
Dumbest thing you did skydiving
freeflygoddess replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jumped with someone who didn't have an altimiter on my 43rd jump and I didn't even noticed until I noticed him pulling right under me and we were at 8000ft still! Oh yeah and my 13th jump I flared too high and let it up...ouch...broken legs and all.... And the time I hit that dust devil, I will always remember to stop jumping when all the 2000+ jumpers are stopping.... Another stupid thing I did....not breathing into those oxygen masks while waiting for others to exit at 23,000ft and then taking too long in the door as well....WrongWay knows all about that...
