  1. He he he...I hope so... Kathryn
  2. Jeffro (Jeff Provenzano from Team Xaos) has velcro on the top back of his rig or somewhere, I forgot exactly where because it has been a while since he left Eloy, but none the less he uses to secure his slider it behind him.
  3. It is hard to explaine in words...maybe someone has a pic. I will try. It is where one person sits on the edge of the door with their legs hanging out the plane, lays on thier back and the other person stands up grabs the legs of the other while he grabs the other's legs, sort of a 69 position, but holding on each other's legs forming a circle the one stand pushes down the other's legs to exit, the in the air they spin faster and faster, it is awesome, but when you let go it flings you far apart.
  4. ME TOO!!! I also hate Dust Devils!!!
  5. Quit are you kidding??? I can't go a week without airtime. I have had to skydiving related injuries, first one on my 13th jump, I flared to high and let it up...bad bad bad idea, know better now. I broke my leg and tore my meniscus in my right knee (ok I know I can't spell...) As soon as my leg was healed and I could walk, I was jumping again, which was about three weeks afterwards, until I had surguy on my knee the next month. Stay away for four miserable weeks, was becoming the biggest bitch any one has ever seen. First jump back was very nervouse but got through it just fine. Did great until a few weeks ago when I hit a dust devil, Arizona got love our shitty afternoon air in the summer, and it slamed my into the ground and I twisted my ankle. Was back jumping one week later, lots of but slides until it was fully healed last weekend, now finally back to myself again...hopefully no more "Hey dusty butt" coming from Coop any more...
  6. runs back in finally done packing, wonders if she could join this naked team and if so can she can she hang off someone in a stand and jump her mojo if not will jump her 135 saber? Looks around and thinks to herself gotta do it again... This time barrel rolls over and dunps. BAME gathers up her Mojo and thinks now we need to add anonther S to B.A.S.E. so it will be B.A.S.E.S. The last S for Silent threads. Wonders if she can get away with packing in here...
  7. So true, and forgot to add staying current too...I do jump everyweekend now that the expenses have gone down from student prices, well I should say I spend the same ammount as I did before, but get more jumps in now which equals to being able to go out more too... i.e. tandams $160 one jump, Jump tickets now $15 so lots more jumps more often...lol. I proably spend more now...gear is finally paid for, just need to pay my rigger and all expenses will be gone except jump tickets....Sugar daddy? PLEASE!!!! LMAO... Actually Powerball would be better...no ties there just money....lol C-YA Kathryn
  8. As soon as my AFF levels were over, I went right into doing tracking dives and back flying; which is probably the biggest skill to learn before attepting to sit and so on. As soon as I was done with my 20 jumps so I could be off of the unfreefly friendly student gear, I went right into working on my sit, I go a few coaching jumps then practiced on my own till I could sit stable, then got more coaching to see if I was back sliding or whatever. Last weekend got my first dock in a sit. This weekend worked on my standing and head. I think the key to learning is great coaching. I even get coaching on my canopy skills and I have downsized a lot since I started and am about to shrink once more to fly my own gear. Thanks to Dusty, Ash, Steffen, Kiebie, Brad, Coop, and Jeffro in the early stages, I can sit, track, stand, go to head, and land my 150 Saber 2 safely on target. I only have 63 jumps and after Sept. 1st I will be flying my Saber 135, but not without more coaching from Dusty....I totally belive in coach jumps. I do fly on my belly after 5000 because I don't want to take the chance of a shitty head down openings that someone I know loves to do, but then again he only can fly head down and BASE jump...Ok so I talk alot, still pumped from my jumps yesterday...didn't get enough, never do...lol... C-YA Kathryn
  9. And just remember if you want to fly with us small chicks, you will have to fly on your belly while we go to our heads to keep up with those speeds...LOL... There is a huge guy at my DZ who is lots bigger than you that free flys just fine with most of the guys, but when it comes to jumping with me, well hybrid (can't spell got too much air yesterday) jumps are the best. Just be sure to get plenty of coaching, because that really is the best way to know what you need to fix. And if you come out to Eloy, find me I will fly with you, we can at least do a tube exit the whole way down, those are awesome... C-YA Kathryn
  10. HI!!! Yes that was me falling slow while you big guys fell about 2500 ft below me, but hey I got to work on my stand and I did the whole way down. Too bad the devils came out by the time the next load came up, because I really wanted to work on my skills some more. Well perhaps next weekend. C-YA Kathryn
  11. Well I went out there yesterday and jumped. My gear is all reay, but I wont be able to get it until the first of Sept. anyways, money tree isn't growing yet...Any ways, I do plan on geting coaching from Dusty, he is one of the only guys out there that I trust his opinion on. Jeffro is gone and I don't know those other guys. My jumps were awesome yesterday, I only got to make two, because of how backed up they got. I had manifested for a third, but the call was an hour and 20 min, and by the time the load was to go up, I saw two of our dust devils running around, so I scratched, still hate those things. My landings yesterday were awesome, thanks to some help from Dusty last weekend. Infact I landed ten from from my nice little target that someone had put in out less crowded alt. landing area. Any ways, thanks for all of the advice, and hopefully it help some others out as well. After I get my gear from my local friendly rigger I will let you know how my landings were.
  12. On my AFF Level 1, I lost both my instructors, and of course if that happend I was to pull, I did at 10,000 ft. On my very first solo canopy ride ever, and lets just say a small girl on a 290sft student rig, took about 20 min to finally get down, and I was so tired afterwards I had no flare at all...now I pull high on new and smaller canopies to get their feel and such. However, I have nevere managed a long ride like that, wish I could, be some good practice... On the other hand lowest I have pulled, not meaning to on a skydive was 1800ft. Lowest ever 250ft....off a bridge....lol...
  13. stands over the edge, remembers this is suppose to be silent. counts queitly to herself. does a double gainer and pitches. BAMElands and then runs out to the car...
  14. all positions are open.... not sure which DZ would alow it but I am sure if we got lots of dirt dives in first and then called around, someone has to let us, they allow naked jumps, we would just be adding to it...lol
  15. I thought about making some XXX rated jump videos, but guys are always scared of the cold...could be lots of fun though...
  16. actually we dont have to deal with farters often but when its a bit cold up there it has a unique smell Oh my god, that is all you smell in our Otters, belly flyer's farts...and sometimes some free flyers too...i.e. Jeremy, but at least most of the time he makes it to the door and sticks his ass out, but that just blows it all back in...ugh...guys....
  17. So true. Who wants to work everyday all day to buy some material things that you can't even use because you have become this workaholic and can't stop because "Time is money". When you can jump and feel free and not have to worry about anything but pulling. I am still holding out on my soon to win Powerball earnings, it will happen soon I just know it...
  18. Congrats on your sit work, it took me about 40 jumps to get into a sit. I finally put fourth effort into getting coached jumps and that helped a lot more than trying on my own. I finally got my first dock in a sit last weekend with one of my favorite coaches out at Eloy. Well I should say that he did most of the work, but being stable enough for someone to dock on you is an awesome feeling. Now I am working on head down, which is what my FireFly pants only want to do so it is not as hard as getting my sit down but I do cork a lot... Again congrats and if you go out to Eloy anytime find me and I'll jump with ya anytime. Look for the blonde in the purple and orange pants.
  19. I know that this is for swooping questions and what not, but I figure who better to ask about downsizing than a bunch of swoopers. So I have about 61 jumps and I have been downsizing pretty quickly, but no trouble with it at all until four weeks ago. Maybe I should start from the begining. I started to downsize from student gear to a 190 right after I got my 20th jump in I did 12 jumps or so on a 190 Sabre 2 with great landings and then went to a spectre 170 which I ate dirt 3 jumps and went back to the store where I was renting and told the owner, she said that a Saber might be better and that she didn't have a 170 Saber but I could try a 150 and I did and it was great. I have had awesome landings on it and I purchased a 135 Saber which is the largest that would fit into my container, however I felt confident enough to buy one and the fact that I could use the gear from the store to demo down was even better. However, a few weeks ago I got caught in the tail end of one of our lovely dust devils at flare time and it slamed me into the ground and I twisted my ankle and hurt my knees, one of which I had surgury on a couple of months ago, but I was really lucky that was all it was and was back the next week to jump. Now at my DZ we have great jumpers, and I am not denying that, and have great advice and all, but ever since that one really bad landing which only one person witnessed and said it was a dust devil that I had hit, everyone and their dog seems to think that I shouldn't jump my gear that I had bought. I have since been having great landings and only one guy there, the only one I would really trust to tell me to not do something or to do it, says I would be fine and he was willing to coach me with my gear and such. However it is really hard to do something in this sport if everyone is discouraging you. I feel confident enough to jump my smaller canopy, which I would have a 1:1 wing loading on, but yet with everyone but one person telling me not to I know will haunt me on my first jump with that gear and god forbid I have to cutaway on that first jump and use my PD 126 reserve would just make those worries even worse. I just would like some opinion from people who don't know me and what they would do. Thanks
