  1. From and EMT perspective, I have worked more crotch rocket wrecks then crusiers! In fact the more I think about it I have worked exactally 1 crusier and a bunch of crotch rockets and twice that many 4wheeler accidents. the one crusier was a female that was turning a corner at slow speeds and hit some gravel/sand mix and laid the bike over into a metal curb drain and hit her head. Helmet cracked but she was okay! No helmet and she may not have faired so well. The worst bullet bike was a kid missing his foot upon impact with the train tracks. Wheelie down teh road until he hit the 1st set of tracks, he impacted between the bike and second set, gas in the woulds, tail pipe/engien burns and lucky for him he was two blocks from the hospital. the 4wheelers, I will never own one or buy one for my children. Sadly I have not worked one of those wrecks where the kid has survived the accident. some how those things envoke young boys to be stupid at high rates of speed. www.greenboxphotography.com
  2. I invite the owner to stay and watch, keeps me motovaited and keeps me company. Afterwards the customer usally sticks around the house for dinner! I also have a hanging harness that I like my customers to get into and go thur there ep's before they get a repack and as always they get free main closing loops and half of the money they give me goes to an education fund for the daughter of a skydiver that was killed in a plane crash this year. 3. I may be old school here but maybe I would have said Hello first and then just asked if the prson was a skydiver and go from there. I know it's very simple and is outdated to just greet a person with a common introduction, but what the hell it could possibly work beter then just yelling something random that could have meant nothing to that person. hello! My name is ... I saw your tshirt and do you skydive? crazy concept right there! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  4. I know the guy in that photo, thats the midwest legend at a party at my home. www.greenboxphotography.com
  5. If you are lucky maybe the midwest freefly legend will be around when you visit ksupc. he can be approached for autographs, but just don't look him in the eyes or his body guards will take you down. www.greenboxphotography.com

  7. since they can't charge you intrest just send them 20$ a month for the remander of your bill. I was more then once strapped for cash back inthe day and had bad insurance that paid little for my medical bills ( I worked for a hospital) so i had to drag payments out to the best of my ability, my co-worker and person who would have to call me for my bill told me the bills are intrest free and as long as I was paying something each month the hospital can't do much about it or cares. 8. had some fun weather over KC tonight, getting pretty tired of hanging out in the basement these days. Lightning struck the tree next door as well as a tank farm close to downtown and that had some 10,000 barrels of fuel in the tank. I think my weather raido said this was tornado watch 400 something this year, last week in kansas we had 90 confirmed tornados! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  9. 18-25mph, seems a bit high to me but to each his own I guess, just seems oddd that he was worried yet still jumped. I guess when I had his numbers and years int eh sport I was still wanting to jump hot and heavy as well, just glad I had some guys take me aside and oofer thier guidence and I am really stoked that this jumper wants to learn and is willing to show his rsl config to us all and help collect thoughts so as others may learn as well. 10. This is true and coming from kansas I see alot of wind. I guess we don't know what speed or variables the OP was jumping in, but my point is that is it wise to jump in conditions that you will have trouble deflating your canopy? if you are worried you will get drug then I don't think so. If it is so windy how will a possible bad spot be accounted for in your ladning, will you possibly be landing by some hazards and also have to deal with hi winds these are all things to consider with wind and then factor in your real parachute the reserve. If the winds are sketchy for your main ask yourself would you jump your reserve in these conditions? have you ever jumped your reserve? most would say not. My thought is windy days are not the time to learn how your reserve flys or lands. Those are things I would ask a jumper to consider, the OP asked and I shared my conservative thoughts. www.greenboxphotography.com
  11. QuoteI was busy yesterday doing 4-way RW team training jumps. It was windy enough for me to worry about my canopy giving me trouble on the ground. To allow a cutaway on the ground if necessary (without reserve deployment), as soon as I had a good main canopy overhead, I disconnected my RSL. I landed un-eventfully without cutting away on the ground. reply] If you where worried about the wind, then perhaps you should not have been jumping! I see others have pointed to the cahin of possible probelsm with this whole jump, noting you hurried with a sense of urgency and things like that. I would not jump on a day that the wind worried me and I have seen and will continue to see people push jumping in windy conditions and wonder why. What is so important about that jump that you would have jumped in conditions that worried you? I hope that you don't thik I am picking on you, make you look bad or any thing like that, you asked a question and now I am asking one of you. Be safe, if the wind worried you that much, stay on the ground, as you have learned it lead you into misrouting your RSL. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

  16. Jack C Joerns is correct, now what year? as wel also know it is Peru. bit of history from the pages, this landing was dobe two miles above sea level and according to the quote was some what tricky " But now the lack of a brisk breeze to slow the landing speed of our gliding-type parachutes made jumping hazardous." the red jump suit this person is wearing says Las vegas skydivers on the back if that helps! 17. okay after a recent find at salvation army and a few qucik emaisl to parachute historian Howard White I am posting my first attempt at the when and where game. I got a 76% on my final and you have to pass with a letter grade of a C wich is 80% in the JCCC program here in KC. I am going back to school in one week though.. anyway good job and stay the course I know it can be hard. joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  22. At least you got ditched, I did not even get acknowledged with a reply. If she'd even be seen in public with me.... I'm already going to the conference to talk shop. I don't want to do it outside of work. HEY! I'm getting ditched even before I get to chime in?! I'm here. And I would love to get together! And, no.... we don't have to talk shop. www.greenboxphotography.com
  23. I am pretty cool and live in KC. What part of the city are you going to be in? I assume downtown. Thats Doctor Kbords area i think, I live south in the golden ghetto area, square groomed lawns and all that jazz so a bit less "flavor" then you can get downtown. the power and light district is new and busy right now, North of you where you will fly in is the zona rosa district. It's very trendy right now with it's outdoor mall type atmosphere. KC is known for BBQ, you will want to eat at either Gates, zarda or the world famous and presidents choice Arthur Bryants BBQ. we also have herford house for steaks. Shhot me a pm for more finer details, areas to avoid and that sort of thing, but I would see if Dr Kbord is free as well. Oh an kc is home of Jimmy Coiner, midwest freefly legend! 24. thanks everyone for some great info and pm's! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
