Tommy Well where to begin? You are correct in that ems is a low paying job, infact i do know of sevrvies that pay less then 10$ per hour and I hate to be cliche in saying saving lives, but keeeping you alive is more like it and doing that for 10$ an hour. After a long hard call when I have to clean the vomit and blood of myself and the equipment I often wondered why i got paid so little? but thats what it is and thats what I do. I love EMS, right now anyway. but know that this is not my final stop. EMS traing can be at your local commuinty college or be held "in House" by your local ambulance or fire station. I don't know what the cost is for emt-B for your area, here I paid about 500$ many years ago and that course was a few nights per week over the course of a few months. and that was just the start of where I am now. You have options and Iwould sya go talk to a local ambulance service and see what they tell you. joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Having your tonsils out as an adult - how painful is it really?
jdthomas replied to Peej's topic in The Bonfire
My wife had hers taken out two years ago, she said it was the worst pain ever and she was in pain for a week I think. It was really a bad experience for her. www.greenboxphotography.com -
"I think I am preparing myself well for the big one that may take down the house." Growing up and living in tornado alley I have been prepared for disasters almost all of my life, I would encourage you to do the same for the events that WILL happen in your area. Make TWO survival kits, have one ready at your home and a second in another location that you can get to easy incase the one at home is destroyed. Document your property in both stills and videos, make a running log of your stuff, keep it updated at least bi-monthly and make copys of that, once more keep a copy safe at home and another away from home. (bank lock box) Buy a firearm even if you do not like guns and protect yourself and property from looters,My house got looted when it burned years ago and I lived in a small friendly town at the time. Lastly don't think it can't happen, because history shows it has and will again. Boy scout motto, Be prepared! With the fires an the earth quakes I say good luck to you kids out West. I will take my chances with the tornados. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

The LA Times isn't saying it, some dipshits in Kansas are. Kansas? Please watch calling people in Kansas dipshits, as this article may have come from the Kansas City star, but that paper is based in Kansas City Missouri, NOT Kansas! Joe Sorry. When I read Kansas City I automatically think of Kansas City, Kansas. Dunno why. Just sort of a reflex action I guess. I mean, the cities are so amazingly different! They're like Minneapolis and St. Paul for fuck sake, but without the river. Well, not the same river at least . . . My apologies to Dorothy and Toto. The citys are amazingly diffrent infact. KCMO has the big downtown, all the crime and grime where as kck has no large downtown structure and the crime and grime. kcmo is the city of fountains, they have the plaza and kck has the nascar track area wich will soon house skyventuer in the waterpark. Dorthy and toto where not offended as they where dipshits for being out in a tornado. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

I have found that I look like my grandfather, when comparing photos of he and I at the smae ages in life it's almost scary in the sense that I can see what I will look like when I get old and when I see his medical history and how mine is also very close I can also see what I need to change in myself. www.greenboxphotography.com

Nice photo of the kid and a LV handbag.. thats crazy.. what happend to hanna Montana gear like the rest of kids her age? Joe six pack, joe the plumber, bob the builder, where is waldo? what the hell? I see today that Joe the plumbers real name is Sam and that he is not even a plumber, he also does not know what his company makes net per year and is about 100k short of what he thought. Hockey mom, bull hockey is what I say to the lies that the Mccain camp constantly spew, lies, coverup's and damage control, lots of damage control. I will be glad when this is all over so we can bitch about who ever wins, they both will suck so whats the point? Joe skydiver and BTW Joe is my real name unlike Joe the plumber. www.greenboxphotography.com

It's funny what we consider healthy, many people associate thin or skinny people as healthy and so many times thats not the case at all. I am a very active guy, 5'8 and around 140 lbs, yet I have a high colesterol count that I am trying hard to get under control without taking meds. I also suffer from UC and there are days when the pain is so much that I just don't want to get out of bed. I think that people mistake medically healthy all too much and should understand what they can do with modern medicane to live a longer healthy life. I would encourge regular check ups, but I would also say get check ups with multiple sources, and educate yourself on as many ways as living healthy as you can. A nice balance of holistic and western medical ways can often be reached. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

Saw this one in Arkansas this weekend. May be a common name in the state, who knows? but I thought electing Bubba was just too much to pass up. I think the rebel flag in the trailer house window really set this off nice! www.greenboxphotography.com

Jeremy saw this just last week when the dog catcher girl got her foot pee'd on by the dog I rescued. she came to pick the pup up and he pissed on her boot, that little guy was tied to a stop sign and left behind. Christina and I rescued him and while walking to the house with him he pissed on everything. possibly uti, anxiety or dominence. who knows? Good luck, I would say he may have been feeling anxious with the storm, or perhaps he was sending a message from Jimmy Coiner! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

The soundbites and "folk talk" that palin uses gets old. Stop trying to play cute, answer the question, after all you are on the straight talk express right? What I saw after the debate was over was to me the most damaging. She wants to talk about family and how down to earth she is, but at the end of the event the family rushed up and i believe that her infant child was there being held not by her but once agin by one of her children.. go on all you want about it's not her kid, but if she says it is then she ought to be taking care of it to show that support of family values! Yeah some shelters do charge, but KC actually has several shelters that don't charge and they are no kill shelters. My wife and I donate money and sometimes material goods to at least two of these shelters. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com

On my way home from school today i noticed a small puppy tied to a stop sign at the intersection by my home. Knowing the people that live in that home do not own a dog I thought it to be odd, so I called my wife and told her to walk down the block and meet me at the intersection. She said she had just driven by that stop sign not 5 mins before me and there was no dog there at that time! We found the little guy had been tied up with a pices of old nylon webbing, he was groomed and was a year old or less. the person dropping teh dog also left a cup of water with the dog. My wife walked him home and we quickly found out why he may have been dropped off, the dog pissed on just about everything he could on the way up the street. we called animal control to come get him, when the officer showed she got our info on what we found and while doing so the little dog pissed on her boot! Outside of peeing on everything he could, the dog was very friendly, somewhat clean and had recently been given a haircut. It is really sad that someone dumped him instead of working to solve his problems and why could they not have just taken him to a shelter instead of tying him to a stop sign? Turbine In Kansas!!! Sept 27-28, "NO TORNADO BOOGIE" @ KSUPC

Protocols for starting IV's can not only very from state to state but county to city. Starting a line is not a life saving medical intervention and as stated is only fluid replacement. IV's no not carry oxygen which cells need to survive. Starting a line and not being trained to do so can be dangerous to the patient, embolis from cath shear are serious issues as well as infection. Good samartin laws are a joke, they will not stop you from being sued and even if you win, you loose because it's expensieve and stressful to fight that stuff. Duty to act is a big deal, does your stae, county, city requier you to act even if off duty? most cases not and if you are like me I travel to DZ's that are out of my state and i am not licesend in those states. I have no duty to act at an emergency and if I do then I assume the liability.. IV's, if your dz can even get one have no place in the wrong hands and people.. i can't stress this enough. if you are not medically trained do not rush out to take off someones rig so the emts don't get cut happy on it.. this is a foolish mistake that could cost your friend spinal damage that may not already be there, simply get some first aid trainging, hold there c-spine and maintain an airway until the ems people arrive on scene. soap box rant over! what the hell happend to my post in this thread, why did it end up in the recycle bin???? just to restate my origional post to this incident at the 7-11 as it did relate to this event. The police did make a statement that was out of the norm for police statements. usally you get, don't do what this clerk did and you should just give the robber what they want, but not this time... the police said basiclly good job! This is also in the same area as posted by others and is noted a bad spot in town, this area is also part of the pennvally area and as I stated before can get sketchy at best. Drugs are exchanged here and gay sex is solicted by men trolling the skateboard park that is in this area, just the other day a man was beaten to death in this park.. this is a fact and I am not gay bashing if thats why my statements got pulled.. It is fact and when my friends and I have had to call the police to the park on many occassions for the gay men solicitng the young boys at the park then it's not singeling out a group as the group seems to operate like that in fact! Many of my adult skater friends now carry concealed handguns at this park and it's a sad day for skatebaorders and other people who want to use a public park have to arm themselves to enjoy the day! Kc is getting crazy and it's a bummer. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
