  1. got tired of it and just wanted to have more fun jumps with my wife, once I started jumping with her more I realized that I could not go back to tandems or any type of "working" jump and let all the ratings go to the way side. it's all fun now. just like it was when i started jumping. 2. My inlawas gave us a box filled with a variety of whiskey, Jack, Jim, all the major players where in the box of good.. most of the botles are unopend. Just curious as to what year the IRS stopped putting those little red and white paper seals on the bottles, as these are all still stamped and at least two of the old bottles of dark whiskey have almost gone clear or colorless. I no longer drink, so these things will be collecting more dust or becoming more aged now, perhaps some of them will migrate to a boggie... so does anyone know when the stamps where stopped? 3. here is another item that is pretty cheap and can be worn in most activitys.. yes it can be lost easily in an accident, just like everything else it has drawbacks. As an EMT we do a quick search for ID's, but it's not something we waste time with if there is no one around who knows the person and I have only run into this problem a few times in all my years of ems. Typically someone is with you who knows you, or you will have some sort of ID on you. anyway here is the product, I am sorry that I am clicky challgend and can't make it so. http://www.roadid.com/Common/default.aspx Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  4. Quote I also also wish that if they so choose to "pencil pack" their rigs that they NOT forge my signature if I happened to be the last rigger that inspected and repacked their reserve. reply] I agree 100% with you on this one!!!! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  5. I love to read ems stuff, I need to get back on a truck sometime soon as I am about to go crazy not working! here is a neat ems story for you. what an inspiartional story as well. http://www.fstribune.com/story/1459512.html Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  6. with out a doubt we can survive, keep clean, well fed and safe. Medical kits are well stocked adn we both know how to use the contents safely, the gun safe is well armed and we have a food alotment that is great. I went a week w/o power and running water in the dead of winter a few years ago due to an icestorm, I had less supplies at that time then I do now, it was not easy but I bet it could be this time. stock up, you never know! 8. Not unresaonable as long as you are not the one lft sitting and waiting for service and yes maybe others are supposed to cover, but in this case that did not happen. www.greenboxphotography.com
  9. Last night my wife and I had once more bad service while out to eat.. it seems to be a trend with us as of late and as such I wonder if it just a phase that follows us or is there some connection with the average of the wait staff? We where just about done with our dinner, this was obvious as I had already finished my meal and she was about done with hers when the "server" saw us last.. within a few minutes after that we saw her walk by our window (outside the building) getting a cig out for a smoke break. A few minutes pass and a second employee walks to the same area and i can tell already that one smoke was probably going to be two now that she had company to chat with. Time to find our ticket as about 5-8 mins had passed, found the boss and he took off to find the bill.. he quickly returns and hands us the check and bails rather quickly himself.. i think he could see that I was mad and I think he wanted to avoid a confrontation about this. I was just signing the bill when the waitress, I mean server came by and said she was sorry, twice!. why is she saying sorry to me? was she really sorry she left her tables to go have a smoke break? In the tip section I wrote, don't leave your tables waiting for your smoke break, 0 (zero) tip for you! Kind of rude statement but she was rude. what's your bad service story? www.greenboxphotography.com
  10. You may not have seen the need at one time but now you are! like the boy scout motto "Be prepared" even if I was working dispatch I would still have my home away from home bag in my trunk. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  11. Many check points have to meet certin standards and be well documented, this means that all the police involved that night are listed somewhere. call the station, ask for the highest in charge person you can speak to at that time (avoid the confusion of going up the chain of command) and CLEARLY explain that you where stopped at the check point, state the policeman held your pocket knife and when realesed you and the officer forgot about the knife.. AVOID all the story line and take part of the responsiblity of this mistake and you will have better luck getting your knife back. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  12. I have been in EMS now a few years and learned early on a few tricks form the old guys. I have a rolling suitcase, in it is just about everything minus the kitchen sink, One thing that i have found very useful is the change of uniform, at some point a person will puke or bleed on you and you will want a shower and to get out of the now nasty uniform. I would recomend that you get a rolling case or large plastic tub for your stuff and carry more stuff then you think you could need! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  13. John you have some great float trips.. here in kansas we make do with what we can. This weekend we are not going to go skydive, but spend time on the a river in Missouri and Arkansas. Here a few from the Maris Des Cygne river outside of trading post kansas. MY friend and fellow skydiver Bryan Gayley put this event on, the water level was low and slow but it was still fun. www.greenboxphotography.com
  14. Happy Birthday DSE, it is a great thing to be born on this day August 21st.. I know this well. 8/21/70 for me! Now I am off to find that morning birthday cake, some may call them donuts! Happy birthday. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  15. I asked my wife to marry me because I love her and I wanted to make the commitment to her and us. We dated for 3 years and she had no expectations of me asking her to marry her any time soon when I had asked her. I asked her parents permission first and then her. it was a suprise to her but not her parents, they said they saw it coming at any time, ironiclly so did my mother... Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  16. I've never tried to "out-muscle" a student. Martin you don't need to, you are like 8 feet tall and have more "rudder" control with your leg then I do with my whole body. I have taken students that where so much larger then me that they could have easily been in control of the skydive, but I go over the exit with them and so well that it never was a problem and yes i arch big time! But with martins height i don't think there would ever be a student that he can't get some type of flight surface out past the students, must be nice! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  17. not too many photos but here is the crapapedia link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Scott,_Kansas www.greenboxphotography.com
  18. well.... I have a web site that is EMS (emt/paramedic) related and part of that site is the old adverts for companys that make stuff for workers like myself, cops, fire and outdoor workers this item of intrest is a neck chill product. this neck tie of sorts helps keep you cooler in the heat, it wicks away mositure. Well I took one aprat the otherday, did the math and I think I can produce these things with ease, okay i know I can produce these things with ease if I can purcahse the core of the wickaway fabric. The item retails for about 10-12$ w/o shipping, I think I can produce it cheaper then that, put my logo on the thing and have kick ass promotional items for my web site. In addition to that it would be nice fabric to have for my jump suit as well. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  19. thanks for the link, I will give them a try and see if they will sell em what i need. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  20. I am looking for a source for polymer embedded fabric (pef6519) this fabric is used in evaproative cooling vest and stuff like that. I have been to two fabric stores and the ladys working there just get that blank stare when I ask for this fabric follwed with a no we don;t have it and they may have but just don't know! Thanks Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  21. I am in line with everyone else.. bring me your rig packed.. step into my hanging harness and go through the motions. I then take the rig and carefully pull the reserve out looking things over as I go. after the reserve is on the floor i pull the main, drag it to the side with the risers attached to a board that I made to keep the risers in order. I do a full inspect on teh reserve, air it and repack it. i then reconnect the main and unpack it, leaving it for the customer to repack and make sure it's hooked up correctly.. I won't be caught in the you hooked my main up wrong game! they can take care of the main from the risers on up! I will only hook up the main and repack it if i am getting paid to do so and I charge a lot extra for that! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  22. Jeremy Oh man we did not get any disc golf in this week, lets try for a friday sometime soon.. Your shower could be congested with lime, perhpas some clr will clear it up. Maybe you need to get a new shower head. we just installed one of those rain ones, very nice! The pressuer can change by the restrictor thats inside the head, much like putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose. Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  23. thanks for all the help guys! Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  24. I have some papers that I need to scan and make into a pdf file. How do I do that? I know how to scan them and save them as a jpg as I do this for phots, but word documents I have no idea about. Thanks Joe www.greenboxphotography.com
  25. Andy Someone sewed your rig and main. Perhaps a man! I used to take a parachute and rock climbing harness to the public middle school and address the young boys there that where about to go into sewing class and show them that with sewing you can make cool stuff and that sewing is just not a girls thing. and if you consider the power of my sewing machine and how fast it sews and how a harness machine will punch thread through your fingers then thats pretty burly stuff, hell my sewing machine has a faster motor then my whimpy table saw!
