  7. I have finnaly figured out how to pack my VX last season. Tried many different things, including rolling the nose. All i want to say is: DONT do it! :) What I do is I quarter the slider WELL, and pull the front of it flush with the nose cells. Let the nose just hang there, dont even push it inside. Then just roll the tail normally or tight if you want... Also, i tried to psycho pack a few times... the openings were very smooth! But i couldnt get it to open on heading consistenly so i stopped. But try it too, may be it will work for you? And yes! try MEL's domed slider. i tried it a few weeks ago and I love it. Give him a call too - he is a good guy to deal with and will talk to you about options. SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. 8. LOL you started it! SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  9. I guess we should not assume things - or you know what will happen ;) When did they stop putting vectran on Velo? And since when is VX not a "crossbraced canopy" There you go again... Ass-you-ming WHY, for the purpose of original post, would you compare DIFFERENT canopies with DIFFERENT type of lines? What would that prove?? why would you compare different linesets? All he asked was (and I quote): I am curious, though, how long does a normal lineset last you... what the average # of jumps is between changes SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  10. I just assumed we were not comparing apples and oranges here - so i was referring to same line type of different canopies. And as far as wear and tear on lines - i dont think x-braced canopies produce any more then regular canopies. well, these days the new (design) HMA lines will go as far as Vectran would. With proper care - may be even further? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  11. long post. so... why would lines on a crossfire wear out quicker then on a VX? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  12. I have milked my VX for about 950 jumps total (or may be more) on a vectran lineset :) You should have seen their condition, though LOL. I did replace brake lines and HAD to replace a couple of lines (a C and a D lines) - they were literally about to BREAK. One line was made out of thicker vectran too, rigger didnt have the right # line - it was a rainbow lineset LOL. But to answer the original posters question, i think they (lines) last as long as lines on "regular" canopies. And I really dont see why they wouldnt... 13. Smart alternative to buying an overpriced GL harness. I was thinking of doing the same exact thing, just didnt know if modern risers would be easy to mount. I think you found a good solution to that. Also the thought of sitting in that harness... Having jumped a few rounds - i know how "comfortable" they are :) good job! P.S. oh yeah, and if you post some pics of the rig - that would be cool SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  14. Nice video. Curious what kind of harnes set up is that? Looks like you used some generic old harness and quick disconnect links straight to the riser rings. SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  15. cool video! Thanks for posting it here is that clicky: http://www.flyacro.com/site/quicktime/movies/nside_Small.mov SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.

  17. You probably got a lot of answers to the question you DIDNT ask :) You should check out that (raw) video form CO CPC on this forum to see what some people can do with a Sabre 2! :) Now THAT guy is a great pilot, getting the most out of his wing! Forget stiletto - that's old stuff. Crossfire 2 is a much better wing. SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  18. Excellent video! Thanks for posting it SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  19. Depends on the type of line and its thikness, but theoretically restitching can compromise the integrity of the line. For example, if the lines are really thin (HMA) improper bartacking technique can damage the actual fibers in the line. I wouldnt even ask to have the HMA picked out and restitched in the same place - just get a new line(s) :) SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. 20. That leaves it just for fun, and if you win money then sweet - if not then you just had another weekend of fun jumping
  21. no question about that. What I was asking - does the (PRIZE) money really matter to have fun and compete? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  22. Thats good money! A few questions: How many people entered and what was the entrance fee? What part of it went to cover the expenses and what part went to prize money? Did any sponsors provide cash? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  23. i answered your poll before i read your post... I read the Poll as "CPC: should have monetary prizes (YES) or should it not (NO)". I voted NO - but then read the post :) I made a mistake - i wanted to vote for NO money in CPC. Meaning if i ever compete, I would compete without money. Curious how much the prize money can amount to? At the PSN at the Ranch in 2004 we had 7K for top spot. Now THAT'S "money"! Then i saw some pros get $1500, 1250 1000 for top positions in PST... Thats enough for gas and lodging lol. How much can you win in CPC? 1K for top spot? Less? If you can get enough money from sponsors AKA free money, to have a 3K purse for top three slots, then great! But if people have to put up say... 100 bucks each for the prize fund, and you have 15-20 people showing up... then I'd rather just compete for no money at all. And I mean... does the money really matter? Isnt it about COMPETITION and sportsmanship? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  24. How long would you say it takes you to assemble it before packing? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  25. Enlighten me :) No, "i dont think i need one" I'll take that bet! :) How much? May be they do... I havent had a chance to try it yet, but they also add more stuff to worry about, more stuff to assemble on every packjob... just more headache and i dont want to go there. Yet. I am happy with my stock set up. A little off topic, but my opinion about 90% of people not needing it is based on a very common trend of followers wanting to be like the leaders. We see it every day (on the DZ and in regular life) - from 150 jump noobs wanting to swoop like the 1000 jump experienced people, to 1000 jump experienced people getting the removable stuff to be like the 4000 jump expert competitive swoopers. Am i in the minority here saying that you can and should get max performance out of what you have before moving up to the advance stuff?
