Glad to hear it went so well. You'll gradually begin to feel better and better on the ride up, until you go to do something new, like RW or freeflying. Then you'll have those same nervous feelings. That sounds great! I recently met up with two awesome DZ.commers too, only our schedules didn't allow for us to make any jumps together. We DID introduce them to sushi, however. MyOwnWay and Jumper03 are two fun, funny and intelligent people. We enjoyed their visit and look forward to seeing them again...perhaps in the air this time. It seems whuffo ignorance sells papers, at least. When reporters do that, I'd like to find them and...and...and offer them a free tandem and a challenge to write about it as objectively as possible. I know the first line wasn't entirely demeaning, as most skydivers don't find rigs at garage sales, but the sentiment behind it seemed a bit out of place for that article. Oh, we can absolutely do an all Chanute-way...even if there's only a few of us. You aren't kidding about the restrictions, all those "phases". My training was so long that I got to experience something called "extended third phase", where we essentially got to walk to class on our own unless otherwise directed beforehand. But I still remember that creepy guy who used to lurk behind trees waiting to catch formations or individuals screwing around. I think he taught the student leadership program on the weekends. We just called him "Jason", as in Friday the 13th's Jason. I actually started out in Whitehall in '87, moving on quickly to training "behind the wall" for air launched nukes. I went back for advanced training a few years later and found it to be a much more interesting place...for a totally flat landscape with no trees. The running joke was that there was a pretty girl behind every tree in Rantoul. Wait, I just saw this part and had to backtrack a bit. Darlin', when someone who deserves to share your life comes along, all of this moping will barely be a memory.
