Yes, they most certainly do. I have yet to SEE the owl, but she's out there talking most nights. The fox is absolutely gorgeous, but she's less than thrilled about being seen during hours when cameras work best. She did stop and let me "talk" to her one morning. I think she was more or less curious about what type of creature would be making noises at her while not chasing her or trying to approach her. I'll get her on camera one day. A nuisance? How sad. I used to have a family of corvids (crows) that hung around my house in Washington state because I rescued one of their young from what I jokingly referred to as "Cat Alley". Oh, and I once raised another corvid (a magpie) from a baby after my falconry sponsor found one that had fallen from a nest. He was so incredibly smart and funny, and would always fly to my shoulder no matter where he was in the neighborhood when I called him. I miss that. I'm not quite sure I understood the thrust of this one...I've never been to a been to an entire boogie before, just a day-trip for Thanksgiving, but it was my understanding that skydiving is the main focus of these events. I grew up on the edge of a National Park, and I used to climb up into the hills behind my house until I thought nobody could see me. There are a few here who have grasped the seeming original intent of this thread's author, and that is "Is it possible to make a rational decision to end one's life"? Regardless of the volume of insightful and well meaning information provided, Cochese said it best: anything is possible. Too many people get caught up in that vein of thought that believes you have to be certifiably insane to want to end your life, or not be at a place, emotionally, where your faculties are doing you the most justice. While I won't be so presumptious as to say something along the lines of "the bottom line is...", I will say that nobody can know all the circumstances of every life on this planet. Along those lines of thought, it is safe to say that yes, that type of decision can be made rationally at some point in some lives. Is it the best decision for a person to make? Who's to say? I think the social stigma of being viewed as insane or incapable of rational thought if thoughts of suicide are entertained is not entirely fair. You can ask them if they have a sabbatical policy and what their requirements are for it. Otherwise, just ask for the leave of absence. Most companies that allow for a 6-month leave of absence without pay aren't going to have many problems with it...from my limited experience.
