riggers, you people are the best. I'm not an FAA rigger, but have made a number of base jumps over the last year and a half. I packed for 5 or 6 people on bridged-day, all first time base jumpers and man it was SO FUCKING GREAT to see their faces and gratitute after they used their first and last chance at a good canopy. Fortunately we were not bothered, although I was concerned about getting busted for even kiting. At that moment though it was worth getting busted. I even told Ray that before we got out of the car. It was alot of fun. We did get some hoorays from passers by, and we made sure to let them know that "BASE jumping is not a crime!" We even ran into a visiting German skydiver as we were leaving the lawn. Life is way too cool for sporting activities to be illegal. I'm down in Richmond right now, and will be passing through DC again soon with final destination Boston. Locals have something for me with a soft landing area? I'm nursing an uncooperative ankle. . The "Clicker" requires all your support to come from the boot rather than the binding. The boots ended up being clunky like ski boots, and not as cools and comfortable as the airwalks, etc., that you can get with the standard snowboard binding system.
