I'm not anti philosophy, it's just that your argument boils down to "ultimately we can't know anything" which is a revealation of neither use nor ornament. But the irony is that your philosophy (if true) must also apply to itself. And with that, anything you think you know has to dissapear into a puff of your own logic. Very good point, and another politically incorrect topic that they are not daring to go near. Haven't looked at those numbers in a while, but the percentage of health care dollars spent at the end of life (not from accidents or injuries) is very high. Of course there is going to be more expense as you get older; but a hospital stay at the end of life is ridiculous - and personally - I find it highly undignified. Go home to die; in a place you love surrounded by people you love. As an aside; another business that is incredibly overpriced - funerals. Saw an article in the NYT about home funerals, and even home burials if you live in a rural area. That is definitely the way to go. When it's time, regardless of condition, I want them to haul me down to the stream, pour me a beer, call any friends I have not outlived, and so on and so forth. Dying in a hospital and being processed like a side of meat by a funeral home are both ridiculously expensive, totally unnecessary, and lacking in dignity. OK. I think I may have figured out the disconnect. Health care and a healh care plan are not the same thing. You can use a plan to get health care, but you don't have to, it's simply a tool. There are already (too many in some people's minds, not enough in others) plenty of options to get health care that do not involve any plans at all. The reason this is bad is if the boat funnels/flips over it can wrap that rope around one (or both) your hands. Always remove the rope around the boat. ...and that describes my mom perfectly, we have this love hate relationship. 5-10min visits is about all I could handle then I have to leave or we'll start world war. Sad but true....I love her regardless, but still. Sorta the same with my parents but can stay a little longer. When I first get there they generally behave. And there's the key. Yes, it's illegal but it's not worth really pursuing until there's enough $$$ made or to be had. The person who make a few hundred dollars from their BASE/skydiving video doesn't have much to worry about unless it becomes amazingly popular and makes big $$$ or they find out they're a trust fund baby. Sorta like any digital media piracy. They can come directly after people (and have) but it doesn't make fiscal sense to chase after everyone: the amount spent pursuing legal action and the amount collected would quickly be greater than lost sales, especially if you calculate how many would chose to not buy if it wasn't "free." In general the effort is focused on copy protection and going after distribution networks, especially those that may resell the product.
