  1. BUUUUUMP... Only 16 more days till the party begins!
  2. Jason!! I totally blanked on that one dude.. it will be online on Wednesday.
  3. I'm jumping.. if possible even jumping my ass off.. in Byron!
  4. Ian, you make a very good point about knowing one's limits... The funny thing about the comparison between cars and canopies is that it is not a 1:1 correct one. In that Porsche you're mentioning.. there's an accelerator to make you go faster, so in the case where you said you dont have to drive it like an idiot / but drive it within your limits, you have a choice in the matter. this is only partially true for canopies, smaller canopies GO faster to start with.. respond faster to start with.. there is no such thing as "driving it really slow" cause there is no way to go really slow based on what the standard speed is already. Of course, you can handle the extra speed extra careful and all that, but still you ARE going fast. Just my 2cts.. to the topic starter, work with your instructors and experienced people at your dropzone to come to a decision on gear.
  5. I don't, if you want to know, call Skydive Arizona or Perris Valley for Twin Otter / Skyvan info, and Paul Fayard for Casas....
  6. And it would be even better if everybody that pre-registered so far, sent in all the paperwork / money Is it boogietime yet?

    Sabre 2

Correct.. I know someone who got seriously hurt jumping a Spectre.. a canopy known as a very very soft opening parachute.. The Sabre2 is an amazing canopy, and should not be skipped on your mission to find gear!
  8. What hotels are near-by? I need a nice clean place to occationally wash my nappy ass and rest my weary head. There's hotel info on the boogie website (www.byron-boogie.com), and there's a Super 8 / Motel 6 or something a bit further away in Tracy Iwan

    Sabre 2

You are going to be a very happy camper with the Sabre2, I've jumped Sabre2's for the last 1000 jumps and have nothing but good things to say about them. Yes.. there are some bad apples out there, we had one on our dropzone two weeks ago.. brand new canopy, but it was opening hard. It's on it's way back to PD, and I'm sure they are going to take care of it. I'll be honest, I've had one really hard opening on mine, and I think it's 100% packing related, although I am not sure, it never happened since so I'm not blaming the canopy. Like others said already, the Sabre2 is a very popular canopy, so automatically there will be more reports related to a Sabre2 than any other canopy. You will have a blast flying the Sabre2, I have had a blast flying them for the last 1000 jumps, and will continue to fly them for at least another 1000 probably..
  10. That's exactly where tent city will be.. Or across the road in part of the landing area we used to set up camp, but the problem with that right now is that the ground is pretty black there.. (as you already experienced this weekend )
  11. Dude I totally agree with you.. but you can also read from CSpence's post what having extra lift capacity costs and the risks involved.. What if the winds are up? What if it rains? What if What if.. A boogie is always a big risk to a dropzone from a financial standpoint. A couple years ago we had 2 otters and a Skyvan just sitting there, cause the weather was bad... they still need to be paid for, and the only way they get paid for is when people jump them.. If the loads are all backed up like what you're afraid is gonna happen.. they will go out of their way to get more lift capacity... Just come on out, plan on jumping a lot... and have a good time
  12. Thank you thank you thank you.. You pay boogie fees to be allowed to party at the facilities.. just like in the clubs in the city.. ha ha.. the only difference is.. drinks are FREE at our party. You can't actually believe we'll stop complaining will you? Nope.. I can't believe it.. but I hope you will
  13. Thank you thank you thank you.. You pay boogie fees to be allowed to party at the facilities.. just like in the clubs in the city.. ha ha.. the only difference is.. drinks are FREE at our party.
  14. Nah.. let's just start getting excited and thinking about bringing our good moods, ready to party, have a good time and hang out with our friends at the boogie.. We'll see what happens.. that way we don't have to get bent out of shape when someone that said they were coming doesn't show up Party on.. 23 days and counting..
  15. Note to self. Bring special ingredients. He he.. you think it's funny now.. it's not pretty.. It's ok, I don't need that stuff to have fun, just gimme a beer
  16. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... We really need YOUR brownies babe!! There are no substitutes.. Just make sure I don't O-D on them again Hey Iwan, I can make brownies! (But you have to tell me if they need a speacial ingredieant!) Um.. no special ingredients for me.. Ask Lovelife22 or Geno what happens with the combination of special brownies and Iwan..
  17. He he.. well.. you know what? Some of the most badass boogies don't have tailgate aircraft either.. It's the people that make a boogie, cool airplanes are just extra...

    naming names

No way! MANGOS are so much better! Sigh.. I could eat mangos all day long..
  19. Some additional terms and conditions: If you get my plane for the boogie, it's x dollars per slot to x altitude.. for every 1000ft above that, it's x dollars extra per slot If you use my aircraft, you have to fly it for a minimum of x loads, preferable no less than 2 loads back to back.. If you want my aircraft for the boogie, it will be the primary aircraft, and you can not use your own until my aircraft is backed up x number of loads... etc etc etc etc. These are just random terms and conditions that are out there... it's not just flying the airplane out to your boogie and then get billed afterwards for the usage.. there are all sorts of minimums related to it usually.
  20. Yep.. we're gonna have planes.. two of them.. that's the story so far.. They are trying for another one is the last I heard.
  21. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... We really need YOUR brownies babe!! There are no substitutes.. Just make sure I don't O-D on them again
  22. 0:20:0 No beer owed, did a whole bunch of tandem videos and got to jump with my friends on sunset loads both Saturday and Sunday.. Damn I love this sport!
  23. All, I have a question.. I've done a couple projects with miniDV footage now and I'm not happy with the end result that ends up on DVD, for some reason the quality of the video is not what I was expecting, specially when played on the big screen. Are there any things you can go to increase video quality, or are there specific steps to guarantee that no quality is lost? Basically what I find is that video straight off the camera seems to be of better quality than what I end up with on DVD. I'm using Final Cut Express and DVD Studio Pro 3 Footage is recorded on my TRV17 Thanks, Iwan
