Best single-engined jump plane?
vdschoor replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The 206 Turbine they have at my old home dropzone! Beats most planes to altitude, with 7 people on board (pilot + 6 jumpers) www.paraclubhoevenen.net -
Editing: mixing air with ground video
vdschoor replied to yardhippie's topic in Photography and Video
It all depends on your audience.. if it is just for your friends, you can just put their faces in your video a lot.. and their swoops and all that stuff.. and they will love it. If its for a bigger audience, stick to what Quade suggested.. think of what you want to show your audience.. put some kind of story in it.. Iwan -
BUMP.. Ok, this video has certainly been a challenge, the mass reproduction is finally on its way and I now have fully colored DVDs ready to ship. Everyone that has ordered one, they are going in the mail tomorrow morning! Sorry for the long delay on this..

The idea behind this is great, a water balloon will easily break if it hits anything. The bad part of it is that it will seriously hurt someone or something when it would hit the ground.. even it's only a water balloon... We did a water balloon drop a couple of years ago, drop the balloon from about 300ft from under canopy and try to hit a target. Someone landed right in the middle of the target and two seconds later a water balloon hit that persons canopy and fell right through it.. Yes, a canopy is not a human or a car... but I think the water balloon would still do very serious damage if it hit anything. The cool thing is you dont have to worry about actually catching it, like you have to with a skyball, you could (in theory) fly up to it and crash into it in the sky and destroy it at that point.. but that still means you have to get close to it...

The Dates You Have Been Waiting For (SF06)
vdschoor replied to upndownshop's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yep.. you can totally live off that, but not live and do all sorts of active stuff.. The guy in Eloy went into some kind of shock in a restaurant after a day or three.. and was grounded the next.. there goes your jumping.. -
Aright.. so now come on out and jump with us dammit

The Dates You Have Been Waiting For (SF06)
vdschoor replied to upndownshop's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I saw someone try this at the Holiday Boogie in Eloy this year and its something I would not like to see again. It is more important to take care of yourself by eating than making more jumps. It is important to be healthy and fit when you are jumping, you are not alone in the sky and you will be a danger to yourself and everybody around you if you dont feed yourself well. Take care and be safe -
But you should wait a little bit longer.. get a 100 more jumps or so first.. camera is a big distraction.. Congrats on the helmet though, that is a very safe choice for a camera helmet.

Just order a new liner from Bonehead, so you have all the original padding and start moving pieces around until the helmet fits. I have a fairly large head as well, and it took me a while to get the helmet to fit right. And with fitting right I mean really tight everywhere. I leave the back unlatched until they open the door, cause the helmet is so tight. Which is the way you want it, cause then the helmet doesn't move when your head is not moving Good luck, and congrats on the new helmet.. you're going to be really happy with it..

I dont know how much CRW experience you have, but with my experience, I'd pick the one with the 4th person flying above it.. For the audience it might not look as cool, but you will get the coolest photos that way. Also.. there are some direct air-to-ground tools available out there that you might be able to use.. in which case people can see what's going on in the air directly on a big screen.. Do what you feel comfortable with, flying into a demo is a high stress jump anyways.. add to that that you are flying into a stadium.. even more of a stress situation.. Iwan

I'd skip the pack job and make it an "optional" item after the presentation.. there's nothing really exciting about watching someone pack.. Seeing how the parachute comes out of the bag though.. that's interesting, cause people ask that all the time "is that the cord you pull on to open the chute?"

Happy Birthday old man.. Have a good one.. and party like a rockstar..
-
That only happens if the DVD is set for a certain region. I've burned many DVDs and I've never set the region for them.. those will play on any DVD player..

a shameless bump to let you all know that the videos are ready to be shipped..

And then when they found out how much work it is, they went digital so they could just spray and pray in the air and then zoom and crop on the ground, right? thank you.. I have the highest respect for people that shoot film.. I still do in rare occasions (slide film) The reason I went digital is because of cost, not because i didnt like film. I still have an Elan 7e and just to make it more challenging.. we'll do a "who can get the money shot with film" contest at skyfest.. Or make it really tricky.. ha ha.. here you go.. the maximum number of shots you can take is 24 stop being trigger happy everyone and think about the photos you take.. that's how you have to work with film.. frame your shots instead of firing off your 5fps camera like a machine gun hoping to hit something.

Happy Birthday hot stuff!!

I can see your point, it is easier when you compare pictures.

Do I need to do my "make Gia happy" thing again? Not that dressing up like a school girl again???? Why don't you have a picture of that in the folder of shame? I'm certain there were pictures taken. Blues, Dave Please send pic to my PM box! I'll buy the senders a beer !!! I will come out to AZ and kick your ass.. Actually I did look kind of hot.. I'd still kick your ass though

Make sure you have the latest quicktime installed.. I heard some other people complain about this too.. It uses the new H264 video codec, that's part of the latest Quicktime version.

All, The 2005 Holiday Boogie video is finished, and it ended up being a really nice video. It's a 30 minute skydiving video compilation of the jumps that happened from December 26th, 2005 to January 1st, 2006 at Skydive Arizona. Balloon jumps, freeflying, formation skydiving, wingsuit jumps, this video has it all. Editted to popular skydiving video music, this is a must have for people that were there as well as people thinking about going this Holiday season... Extras: 2 Airspeed training videos (about 7 minutes each) from Airspeed Day, the novice 4 way formations that were done there (the teams that had me (Iwan) and JP as their camera flyers) Pricing: $20 for North America $25 for the rest of the world It can be purchased from here There's also a quick preview of some of the footage, I used the daily video from Dec. 27th for that. (you need the latest Quicktime installed on your computer to see it) Thanks, Iwan
