Iwan... I am surprised you would say that.. You know how loyal Gareth is to Wings.. but maybe "Henri would be happy to help me out with that." Dude.. changing my quotes is not very nice. Correct this, or I'll call my lawyer.. Do not mess with the Dutchman he he... Iwan

No, on the other mudflap it should say: "dumped me for an EXT" Iwan

That is bad ass indeed.. Looks dangerous though, I think I am going to stick with skydiving

Congratulations Vinny!! Have you kicked any ass out there? I know there's this thing between you and the mountain in H-town, have you located a target in FL already? Hmm.. sounds like they were throwing people around again in Hollister.. Reminder to self: go back to Hollister some time soon.

Happy birthday Jeanne! Iwan

I think Tony Hathaway jumps one (at least the picture on his website looks like a Wes helmet) http://www.tonyhathaway.com I am going for the Flat Top Pro very soon, even though it is not custom fitted, the liner can be baked and it will fit like a glove. Iwan

The bigger the buffer, the longer you can make use of the fps capability of the camera. For example on the Digital Rebel (2.5fps and a buffer of 4) you can shoot at 2.5 frames per second for almost 2 seconds, after that, the camera slows down a little bit, and around 12 shots it slows down even more. The 10D (3fps, buffer of 9) means that you can shoot continuously for 3 seconds, after that it probably slows down a little bit as well. I have the digital rebel and this is what I find: I get about 30 - 40 freefall shots if I would hold down the trigger the whole ride, which I hardly ever do. I think the critical time where you need your fps and buffer is the exit shots and canopy opening.. (with tandems) besides that it doesn't really matter (is my opinion) Others please fill in here, but this is my interpretation of the specs (and partially my experience, when it comes to the Digital Rebel) If you want the 10D, get it.. don't go with the Digital Rebel. For me the Rebel is doing a great job and I haven't had any problems with it. The 10D is just more fancy, more settings you can play with and a more professional camera than the Rebel. Thanks, Iwan

PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
vdschoor replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
Thanks, that was the one I was talking about. One thing about that, I don't think it converts the signal to PAL, it's just that that input on TV's seems to accept NTSC and displays it correctly. I would find out what the camera team requires and what they have before starting to spend money on this. (even though it is only 10 bucks) -
I use the TRV17 for video, topmounted on my BoneHead Flat Box Pro (I think it is called) Canon Digital Rebel with a Sigma 15mm for digital stills. Canon Rebel 2000 with the Canon 28mm fixed for film.

How many Byron peeps are going down for the Memorial Day Boogie at Perris?
vdschoor replied to Deuce's topic in The Bonfire
I am on the list, and just sent a PM to the organizer of the tunnel time deal to get the registration info. Iwan -
Actually Skye just corrected me, I do owe beer so the correct numbers would be: 0:22:1 I landed out on a tandem, so I didn't get their landing.. I guess my first customer were I screwed up.. Iwan

0:22:0 Took Friday afternoon off, and headed out to Byron. 4 jumps with Chopchop and 2 nice night jumps. Chopchop practiced opening a student on Eddie at 6.5K at night... Pulled him straight out of our 4 way. Saturday some funjumps and tandemvideos, and Sunday full on on the wheel, 6 tandem videos and a 3 way FF to end the day (and weekend)

PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
vdschoor replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
Get the ones that have SCART on one side, and the plugs (red, white and yellow) on the other. Those should do the job for ya Iwan -
PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
vdschoor replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
JP, Most modern PAL TV's will display the picture, in nice quality! I thought the same that my equipment wouldn't work on a European TV, but it does.. You just have to use a different connection. Normally you can just plug your camera in the front of the TV in the video connector (at least on newer Sony TV's this is true) What you need to do in Europe is use the SCART connection in the back. They sell scart connectors that you can just plug your cables from the PC120 into and it will work.\ I don't know about transferring it to VHS, I've never tried that. Iwan -
the thing I would like to do most is skydiving photography, but since most people are after video I'll take that one. Teaching is something I really enjoy too, jumping with new jumpers and helping them get up to speed. I am going to get my coach rating and AFF, I am not to sure about my tandem rating.. I think I am going to stick to filming them and making them look good on pictures. Iwan

Very nice suit Katie!! Holiday Boogie 2004, I will be in a suit too I'm sure!! Iwan

Ummm.. can you explain? I jump the Sabre2 150.. I've got a couple on a Sabre2 170 and I liked it a lot Iwan
-
If your profile is up to date and you are jumping a Triathlon 175 now, you should do just fine with the Sabre2 170.. you're going to love it! Iwan
-
It's called the Canon 300D I think in Europe. Talk to local camera people though, I really like the Rebel but it has limitations, as it is an entry level digital SLR. The best advice is from local camera people at your dropzone, I am sure they have advice on still cameras. They have experience with your local conditions and will be able to give you much better advice. For example I don't know how the Digital Rebel behaves in cold weather, same for the 10D.. I don't have that information nor experience. Iwan

I use the Canon Digital Rebel, I don't know where you got the slow shutterspeed comment from, but this camera can do shutterspeeds well beyond what you will need for skydiving. For video I use the TRV17, the helmet was setup for that camera so I went with that one (I found the helmet before I bought the camera) A lot of people use other Canon digital SLRs, the 10D, D60 and D30 are used a lot too.

I am using what I think is called a Flat Box Pro? But I am not sure. I attached a picture of me in action (photo taken by Deuce) Basically the video is in an enclosed box on top of the helmet, and the still camera is mounted in front. Iwan
