He's a little bit mean, we are all working and he's going jumping? But then I don't blame him! I would go jump my ass off as well if I had the chance! Go Turtle, Go Turtle!! Iwan

Be honest.. Tell them. They are going to have a rough time with it, but they will get used to it eventually when they see that this is something that makes you happy. My parents went from absolutely against it, to fully supporting it. Now if I dont send them pictures at least once a month they start whining ha ha.. Seriously, it's a weird idea for them because they dont know what it is that is so cool about the sport, my parents started to understand after they came out to the dz a couple of times and saw me right when I landed... Tell them.. don't keep things like this a secret for them.

Bob I think the situation that Wingnut was in is different. There was nobody else to make the plane go. If I offer to pay for two slots (my own + 1 to make the plane go) then I expect that when someone else shows up and decides to jump, I get my ticket back. It's not my problem who gets on the plane for free and who has to pay. The rule is : we need x number of people on the plane to make it go. I dont know who jumps for free or not. With regard to the DZO in Wingnut's story, I don't know I think it is strange practice by the DZO and doesn't make him look very good. Iwan

Ah.. that's what you get for kidnapping people. For all the dz.commers that don't speak dutch, this is what the commentary is (roughly) The guy got the motorcycle in exchange for releasing the hostages. When he drove off the cops hit him with the black car you see in the clip. It's an undercover cop car. Iwan

Damn.. you almost have to be fearless to jump out of an airplane Iwan

It was a bad idea for me, it used to spank me once in a while and after it had done it a couple of times with the full camera setup on my head and my neck beeing sore for over a week I decided I needed another canopy. Personally I would recommend the Spectre or the Sabre2 over the Triathlon if you want to strap cameras on your head. Don't get me wrong, I've put 300 jumps on my Triathlon 190, and I loved it but it was just not the right canopy to be jumping with cameras on my head. That's why I said bad idea. Iwan

Lori, I have sort of a FTP right now, but it's an older fullbox model, I attached a picture. I think the Flat Top Pro will be a lot lighter, but I am not exactly sure, I am looking into it. The other reason for the FTP is that I can put different configurations on there, compared to just one for now. Thanks, Iwan

Ouch, can you say end of jumpsuit after that one? They must have been covered in oil! Very cool picture though Iwan

I think it is posted about a 100 times already that a minimum of 200 jumps is about the absolute minimum, although this is not officially documented anywhere I think. On top of that you want to be very current jumping and also be current and comfortable with your equipment (canopy e.a.) I started jumping my camera around 300 - 350 or so, and started off on a Triathlon (bad idea) When I downsized, I left my camera on the ground for about 40-50 jumps until I was very comfortable under my new canopy (Sabre2) Also, don't bring your camera on jumps where you have to fly at the end of your capabilities.. For example if you are a belly flier with 20 sitfly jumps, don't bring the camera on sitfly jumps because you will have to think about your flying too much, the camera will only be a distraction in that case. I think more experienced camera people can add way more to this list. Iwan

Congratulations to you both! All the best for a happy and long life together! Iwan

Thanks Josh! I guess my setup is nowhere near heavy then. Another reason I want to go the FTP is because I can change more about my configuration with that one. Right now I am kind of stuck with just the TRV in the box on top and a still camera in front. Any more feedback is very welcome! Iwan

All, I am just curious, I am getting a lot of comments about my setup, that it's big, heavy and stuff like that. I am thinking of getting another helmet (the Flat Top Pro), but I am wondering how much this will reduce the weight of my setup. Right now it's somewhere around 7 or 8 pounds, what I have is: A TRV17 on top, with a FM91 battery (soon to be replaced with the FM70, which is only half the size) The Digital Rebel with Sigma 15mm in front. I would love to see what the average weight of similar setups is. Thanks, Iwan

0:0:0 Did some relative work this weekend.

There is a cord that you can put between the camera and the flash. Canon has wireless transmitters too that you could use. It all depends on what you want to use them for, I wouldn't go with wireless in freefall, I would use the camera shoe cord.

None of your business.. he he

And that's what it is all about.. looking COOL!! he he.. that's what I say about "the hangar" You know for some reason I want the flat top pro, but then I start thinking.. I guess it's sort of my trademark "Who's that? Um, well.. that must be videoscooter.. he he.. " Iwan

That is one sexy colored canopy you got there Here's me with hangar (and a similar colored canopy still in my container) over Byron. Picture by the Deuceman Iwan
