My opinion is based on the Racer Model I had. An SST (Which has come to mean "Struggle, Struggle - Thump) This rig failed me when I needed it the most. I had an emergency situation (Severe Lineover) and after cutting away my main, COULD NOT get the reserve deployed. I pulled as hard as I could with BOTH HANDS. The impossible pull was caused by the cable housing shifting and causing the pin to lock in place (do some research on this and you will see a pattern of this happening with this model) The only thing that saved my ass on this jump was the cypres. I ALMOST sent it to get its 4 year the week before, but decided to jump it till the actual repack date. (unit was still current by 2 weeks) So I think I can back up the statement that "Racers Just Suck. BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

While at dinner tonight with a business associate and his wife, the topic of skydiving cameup. The individual tried to win brownie points by pointing out that hee too skydives - (He made 1 tandem 2 1/2 years ago) While telling me about his stellar experience, he made note of the "Piece of Shit Airplane" that the DZ was using. I asked what the issue was with the plane, and he went on to inform me that the plane was about seven different colors - (not painted 7 different colors, but pieced together like parts from a 3-D jigsaw puzzled) - He added. The scariest thing about the jump was worrying if we were going to make it all the way to altitude...I just smiled, and asked him..."So you made your jump at Lake Wales hun?" He replied Yeah...How did you know? Thanks Betty, for all of the good memories, and all of the good times to come! BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Shouldnt you be careful when you cross your arms, as not to go in a head low orientation, thus making it more likely to fall from your rig? Wouldnt the opening shock throw you from your harness if you were in a head low attitude? (In NO way am I trying to be a smart ass, This is a legitimate question) Thanks in advance BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

I have noticed the same thing with "Hot Shit Sky-Gods" They get on the plane, and never get a check, dont worry about (or look at the spot) and try to rush those ahead of them out the door. I have seen them get on the plane with gear misrouted etc...and you know what we do the same thing. "Dude...You need to fix your gear before this bird will fly." I think you should follow the golden rule. a check on the ground. A check on the plane, and a check moments before you leave the door.... Speaking of door....Who farted? I do not know her, first time to see her. But I would say you are right. She definately made an impresion on the student sitting behind her, he "Suddenly Remembered to do another gear check..." BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

Simple. You can fly in the tunnel without a rig, but I wouldnt suggest jumping without one. Get the rig, get tunnel time later. BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

I know I am preaching to the choir on this one (for most of you anyway) But please take the time to PROPERLY fasten your chest strap BEFORE boarding the aircraft. Today on the 3rd load of the day, a girl comes running to the plane as we are settling ourselves on the floor...(Dont know why she was running behind, she geared up for the load at the same time I did - at the 20min) I glanced at her gear, and immediatley noticed her chest strap was routed ONCE through the metal, and then back to the elastic holder. Before I could say anything I heard a familiar voice from the rear of the plane (names withheld to protect the guilty and innocent alike) "You need to fix your chest strap" in which her reply was, "I know Ill do it in a minute." To which he replied "No You will do it now" She then rolled her eyes and sighed, and reluctantly fixed her strap. 1) If you are going to go through the trouble of attaching your strap at all, why not do it right, Did she really save any time by not going back through the metal? Wouldn't it have been easier to properly fasten it and maybe secure the excess once you are on the plane? 2) If someone points out a possible fatal mistake on your rigging, dont get bent out of shape, take a moment to thank them, for they might have just saved your life. Just felt the need to vent - Thanks for listening. BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

Today, while flying around and surveying the damage from the hurricane, I noticed something odd on an A that I routinely fly around.....There was a person about to launch from it! I was at an altitude of about 900ft agl and this A is known to be around 600ft or so. I was watching the person on the A, when I noticed a canopy (Purple with a white center cell) flaring to land. I lost sight of the person on the A, but gained visual with them again when their canopy opened. I have been thinking about making a jump for a while now, and that sealed the deal. You two guys, or gals have the biggest balls I have ever seen! Ballsy Jump at 10:00 in the morning......Two thumbs up. I dont know who you are, but you made my day! Thank You! My mom was telling me of a plane that broke up in midflight somewhere around Lampasas TX last week. Said it was a Piper PA-32. Where can I find more info on this crash, also does anyone know if these planes are used in any capacity for jumping? Thanks in advance. Hey guys, I have been lurking in the forums and reading all I can about BASE Jumping. I live in Central FL and am looking for a mentor to lead me into this sport. A little about myself: I have been Skydiving for about 3 years, I have about 1200 jumps. I jump at ZHills. I have researched the sport, and understand the risks/dangers of BASE jumping and choose to accept them. I Plan to make my first jump at BD this year. I am looking for someone willing to take me in and teach me the ins and outs of jumping more safely. any suggestions on someone willing to do this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance DJ BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE! Free the soul -- DJ

Guns dont kill people...Husbands who come home early from work kill people. The gun was just laying there. Remember without the second amendment, it is hard to enforce the first amendment. Also, I can close my rig with my main pin under my last flap, ensuring the only way it's coming out is if I pull it out...(Same reason I jump a pop-top) I am intrested in what you are saying here. Could you elaborate a bit more on being able to close your rig with your pin under your last flsp? Thanks BASE 3:16 - Even if you are about to land on a cop - DONT FORGET TO FLARE!
