    todays hors d'oeuvre

Wilst I'm waiting for the anchove and cod with toasted red pepper quiche to finish cooking I thought I'd post the hors d'oeuvre of the day. I haven't got a name for it so you can call it what you like. burn a red bell pepper over oak embers, peel off the blackened skin till you have a juicey red pepper (do not wash under water) cut into slices and drizzel olive oil over pepper. Toast a large piece of bread (from a farmhouse loaf is best) over the same embers. get a well ripened tomatoe cut in half widthways and wipe over toast till the juice has soaked in. Add a smidgen of salt and a drizzel of olive oil. lay four or five anchoves ( not cheap ones, the best you can afford) withways across the toast and lay slices of red pepper between the anchovies. eat and enjoy. 2. My boy started with the .22 at ten years of age, at five years old I didn't deem himsufficiently responsible enough. but each kid is different. Now he's 14 and can field strip a Ruger, CZ, and Winchester, This year he started competing in club under 18 clay shooting comps and so far has won two with his 12 gauge. This Sunday the wild boar season opens and he's going to get a taste, but with the dogs, maybe latter in the season I'll let him take a position with me and a slug gun, (here the law won't let him have a center fire till he's 18) I totally agree with starting them off young but only when they can differentiate between a real gun and a toy. As I said each kid is different, I hope your boy has a whole world of fun and welcome him to the world of responsible shooters. Gone fishing

  5. With a fathers pride I watched my 14 year old son take first place in his first under 18 universal trench clay pidgeon competition, I can't take the full credit for his win as the local club instructor saw his potential and dedicated some of his free time with free lessons. Well done Martì. Gone fishing
  6. Honestly, does anyone really believe such a simplistic view anymore? I doubt that anyone with a brain doesn't think that the local culture is a vital determinate to gun crime. Which I'd put way in front of availability and inextricable linked with it. I don't know where or what planet you live on but local culture and it's sub cultures especially among the immigrants and minority races within a country are the main cause of fire arms offences. 9. +1 The police need to start coming down on these criminals HARD that's what set them off in the first place... In my day we were given a short sharp shock, took a while to put me back on the straight and narrow but it worked, of course in those days the local bobby was allowed to give you a cuff round the neck. and if I dared tell my parents that the bobby had cuffed me my father would have given me what for. I really don't know who is at fault, but I do know that Socialism is 90% to blame. Gone fishing

  13. Not really summer camp as such. But my 14 year old son went on a weeks shooting camp Which focused on sporting clay and .22 target shooting. He loved it and hopefully the safety aspect installed in him by professional instructors will stay with him all his life. Gone fishing

    Tires

Hmm, off hand can't think of any civilisized country that allows you to mix tread patterns on the same axel. Even in my little third world country we are not allowed to do it. Gone fishing

You're not actually taxed on the winnings, but at the end of the financial year you had better have a wizz of an accountant or the tax man will eat you alive. Gone fishing

The Euromillions lottery has again been won by some lucky English person. 185 million Euros or $261,869,400 smackaroonies or 161 million pounds sterling. Me, if I won that amount I'd buy an island or Alaska. Gone fishing

    Gun Joke

The driver was obviously once a boy scout. Joke or no joke, from what I've read about the border towns of Arizona the guy was lacking in a few essencial items. But then he was probably a liberal Gone fishing
