How often do you do three-ring maintenance?
Zep replied to LuvToFly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ever since I read an artical (can't remember where) saying that it was'nt a good thing to turn the rings with your fingers (bodily oil not being PH neutral) I now leave it to the rigger to check them an lube the cables every six months Gone fishing -
>God bless America. (Where we don't have any of this silliness for parachute rigs.) < Ahh but dose'nt your rig have to comply with TSO............. Mine dose'nt As I said I jump a non TSO'd non registerd 86 Vulcan, Those South Africans shure know how to build things to last Gone fishing

Did'nt the early Parachute de France containers have some thing like that? May be wrong. But I seem to remember you could adjust them every wich way . Gone fishing

I jump a 86 S.A. Vulcan it has no name or number on it, In fact if you did'nt know it was a Vulcan you'd think it was a early Vector I've jumped it in various countries with no problems Come to think of it my Racer does'nt have a number either. I jump in Spain an as far as I know we have no rig registration system. Unless you count the rig check the DZ does each year Gone fishing

Are there skydivers without injuries?
Zep replied to Don.Key's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Twenty years an over 3000 jumps........ And not a broken bone in sight, Bodily bruises from knowing when to take a downwinder. Lost both front teeth from not moving my head quick enough Cuts an bruises from various misshaps Got hurt a lot more from my days in Motorcross an water skiing Follow the rules, listen to your peers, And remember slow is fast. This sport can build your confidence, an give you years of fun On the down side it can empty your wallet quicker than any casino. Gone fishing -

I tried off an on for years but could never get it right Edit: spelling, When the hell is some one going to market a keyboard with man sized keys I can hit ER&T with just one finger tip. Gone fishing

It's worth noting that he first created the design for a .38 caliber handgun, as that was what the military was using in it's revolvers at the time. WHen the brass and politicians came tot he conclusion that they wanted a .45, Browning adapted his design and helped create the .45acp. So, in a sense, it was a political decision. I was always under the impression that it was Colonel Thompson and Colonel LaGarde that decided the army needed a handgun with more stopping power So the Colt Browning .45 model 1905 was born Gone fishing

As said it's a South African copy of th PD 170 If you are thinking of buying one second hand try to find out exactly how many jumps it has, Above 600 an it's probably jumped out. Which means slow opening and loss of flare on landing. The Coe-D ( and most SA F-111canopies of that era)sufferd more from UV rays than the PD Have a riggerd check it for porosity an general condition If you decide to buy it unless you are very confident with pro packing flat pack it It will open quicker (Go on flame me someone I dare you) I put over five hundred jumps on one and in the end I would not jump it in nil winds Note this is my opinion Gone fishing
