  1. I found that jump in my log book. It says- "Watched Octaplane build with 6 Brits and 2 Canadians. 2 CCR's and a CCS. Far out!!" And I listed the people from top to bottom in the formation, but not last names. Last names below with a question mark are ones I am quessing at- Apples (Paul Applegate) Ian (Marshall?) Leo (Dickenson?) Dave Brian Paul E. (Evanoff?) Rod B. (Boswell) Tank If you logged it as a DecaPlane attempt then apparently me and one other didn't/couldn't dock. At this time in CRW the thinking was just going to the belief that planes were more stable than stacks and large formations were all going to planes. The record was a 12 stack but the DecaPlane hadn't been built yet. So we were thinking in terms of world record planes and not in terms of the already completed world record 12 stack. Just another bit of CRW History & Trivia! Jack Gregory
  2. And for even more points, How many pea pits are there and where are they? QuoteTwo. One out from the front of the ramp in the photo, and one far out to the right of the ramp. What do I win?

    Homebrew

Interesting set up but way too much monkey motion. I like the fact that they use extract. I have been brewing for almost 15 years. I have brewed full grain with friends but I get great results with extract. I will put my IPA up against any ones full grain. A lot less hassle for the same thing.
  4. You win. Yeah, I was thinking, best goddamn caption ever. Your right Billy. How in the hell can you top that! It's perfect!!!!
  5. Hey Zing, stop. Be careful! Your starting to make sense.
  6. Wow! You brought back some memories. I was at the 1983 Mardi Gras Boogie and had that t-shirt. Mine finally spit the bit last year. Remember the Dream Palace and Reality Patio?
  7. I was lucky enough to get into the sport just about the time they were still doing those 40 way comps from the 3's at the Hills. I lurked Bird's team a few times. They cleared the Southern Cross 3 like it was on fire. Being in the middle of the lineup was one of the most intense exits I've ever done, next to actually launching a 10 way speed chunks out of the damn things. I was a little bit back behind you in the line up on Birds team. Just looked through my log books from those days. I had one 40 way star timed at 38.5 seconds out of a DC-3. That was a hell of a dive from way in the back!
  8. You really need a DC-3 to do it right. But don't get me wrong. It's a blast no matter what you get out of. Back in the 1980's we used to do a 40 way competition at Z-hills. I always loved doing the big round out of a DC-3.
  9. That's not true Nick. These days jumpers are very good at pointing at the green light so everyone knows it's time to climb out.
  10. I know. 1981 it was "The Other Plane ol' People Folk". The name was a combination of two CRW teams- The Other People from Stormville, NY and The Plane ol' Folk from the Tampa Bay Parachute Ranch. We had combined during the Z-hills Turkey Meet and built the first Ten Plane. It went to Stormville for six months and then on the living room wall of a house three of us shared in Tampa.
  11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostate_milking Never say never! So.... how did you happen to know about this wikipedia reference?
  12. What he said. Also, if you have time, get reservations to eat at Paula Deans reastruant "The Lady & Sons".
  13. That was some of the best tasting beer I ever drank! We were truly grateful that you were around that night to buy it. If you hadn't gone into that tree we would have been having a wake. It was one of the most amazing things I have witnessed. And if I never said it to you before, I was really impressed that you got right back into the airplane so soon after it happened.
  14. I remember that Jim! I followed you down. We were really worried because we didn't have an alternate for the team. After we got you out of the tree that saved your life and figured out that you were OK our only concern was- Who had a spare rig so we could make the next competition jump! What are friends for?

    Bikers

I used to fly Air Ambulance trips. Sometimes I would fly Organ Harvest Teams. These people called motorcycles Donorcycles. And I was amazed at the high percentage of donors who were killed on a motorcycle.
  16. That particular JU-52 was owned and flown by author Martin Cadin at the time it was jumped in Florida. I believe that it is now owned by Lufthansa. And it's not a Merlin Howard!
  17. I don't know about that. I bet they get pretty hot wearing those things out in the sun!
  18. Most of you have some interesting and valid points. But I want to offer a new take on this. In the past it was a bad thing to be Gay. It was a deep dark secret. The thinking of the day went something like this. In government circles some people could find themselves compromised and blackmailed. Federal employees could be turned into spies and lawmakers could be pressured into voting certain ways or else they would be exposed. More recently, being Gay has become no big deal and no longer taboo except in the US military. I'm sure many of us know and jump with Gay men and women. No big deal. The problem with Craig's situation is this. First, it is pretty clear that he was trying to pick up someone in the men’s room. All the signals were there and the police determined that they had valid reasons to take action. The foot tapping and hand signal are apparently standard code for these kinds of encounters. Therefore, I believe all of Craig's denials are lies and he can't, and won't, admit the truth. It puts him in the position that he could, or already might have been blackmailed. I could care less if he is Gay or tried to pick up some guy in a restroom. What I care about is that he never addressed the arrest publicly until the press broke it over two months later AND that he thinks he can lie his way out of being what he is. Screw all the party politics. The guy is a liar and can not be trusted by his constituents.
  19. Jack is, unusually, wrong, at least about the location and date. And I did say that the aircraft ID was "reasonably obvous," Mr. Hooper. HW Well, at least I'm not a geek!! I sure reeled Hoop in. Sorry Jim!
  20. Thats boarding the B-25 in, I believe, Lorain, OH for the tragic Lake Erie jump where only two survived landing in the lake. I forget the exact number that drowned, somewhere between 11 and 16.
