Custom camera helmet, Wes Rich CCM style... FINALLY finished!
The111 replied to The111's topic in Photography and Video
I haven't ever looked at an FTP up close and I'm not sure what you mean by "folded surface"... guessing you mean the top plates has vertical tabs on the side? My top plate attaches to aluminum angles (basically 90 degree brackets... you can buy raw angle stock at home depot) and the angles attach to the helmet. So yeh, you're right about the side and top attachments. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Do extremely religious people piss you off?

"Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God" I'm pretty sure that using scripture as a rebuttal to logic is exactly the type of thing the OP was describing as annoying. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
All true. Add to this, we all know how reliable the press is. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You're adding the wrong amounts. Yes, they paid a total of $27 (the hotel has $25 and the bellboy has $2... 25+2=27). They still have a total of $3 (1 each, refunded from the bellboy). 27+3=30. The 2 you're adding to 27 is already part of the 27. The "lie" is in bold... the first part of the sentence is true... he does have $2... but it does not create any sort of "total" $29 as suggested. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've actually spent more time on my PS3 and Wii in the past month, but I still voted PC. For a truly competitive, tactical, team-based FPS multiplayer experience there is no substitute for PC. Controls, server and admin options, and customizability are all far superior, no debate. It will still vary from server to server though. I play TF2 on a server called Texas Teamplayers that has the most well-oiled pub teams I've ever seen. Everybody communicates and works toward the objective as a team... playing TF2 with a bunch of rambos on a console "server" (no such thing) is literally a different (far inferior) game. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I saw the title of this thread and guessed exactly what you were going to ask. Yes, it is crazy. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Wow, that whole movie was incredible, and not just because of the cool footage. I liked the story. "I want a red helmet." www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've tried most of them... Vegas seems easiest to pick up and fastest to work with... and keeps a very similar interface between version changes so you never have to re-learn. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Wait a minute, are you saying that because you consider a Cuban flag or an image of Che to be bad and illogical those things SHOULD be banned? If so your last post about the value of individuality just fell flat on its face. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Your question is a bit off-point IMO. All you've asked is "would you want this in your neighborhood?" The majority voted no. Basically, you have asked personal preference. I'll bet many of the same people who voted no would also tolerate it rather than ban it. Tolerance does not equal affection. Us "super tolerant skydivers" may tolerate somebody with a purple barcode tatooed across his forehead, but that doesn't mean we like the tatoo. Here are my answers to some different questions: Do I want that garage door in my neighborhood? NO Would I support an HOA rule against it? NO Do I think you should be allowed to put it up even though I don't like it? YES www.WingsuitPhotos.com

As a current (and temporary) Texas resident, I can say that your logic will not change the mindset of these people so intent on reminding themselves regularly of where they live. Hanging the Texas flag on the front of your house in Texas is about like wearing a shirt to the DZ every day that says "I SKYDIVE." www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Oh, I was confused since in the product description it said for PC and HC cameras and I've never seen a connector like that on HC (and I've never used a PC). You could probably find a pre-made cable in an electronics store, but maybe not with the 90-deg connector on one end. Maybe you could get a DZ.commer overseas to order one for you and then sell it to you privately. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'm not sure I understand what connectors are on each end of the "DV extension cable"... how hard would it be to make one yourself? The photo looks like a stereo plug on one end and a coax connector on the other... but that would make no sense to me, so I'm confused. What do you use a DV extension cable for? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nice, the last one creates an illusion of you in space orbiting the planet. Really nice skies in the first one. Would look really good with a flash so you could see the flyer's face... or you could do that in post-processing. Though the silhouette is a nice look too. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I agree. People on the internet are real people, surprisingly enough. We have this great tool at our disposal to connect us all, and you still see the tired "ask the locals" response thrown around all the time. While it's true that in some cases there is no substitute for a hands-on tutorial, if you have some common sense and do your research you can learn everything you need on here. Hell, I BUILT an entire camera helmet without any hands-on help... it all came from an instructional CD (with many gaps) and a few dozen emails exchanged back and forth with Wes Rich and Brett Thomas. The connectivity of the internet (its most obvious and largest benefit) allows us to find greater experts remotely than we ever could locally (and a wider variety of opinions). And of course, for every one of those experts, there are probably 100 morons claiming to be experts. The burden of sifting through the bullshit lies on the student... but such is true in any walk of life. I've seen plenty of bad advice given by real-life "experts" at DZ's. The way I approached camera flying (and helmet setup) was to get all the info I could from as many sources as possible, compare and contrast, and decide for myself which ideas I liked and which I didn't. About 90% of that info came from this very forum. I went through the "post your setup" thread and saved every single jpg. I still have that folder on my PC, showing several dozen other camera setups, ranging from small, normal, and snag-free to massive, gargantuan, and probably unsafe. I learned a lot staring at all those jpg's, and I never could have inspected that many different setups at my home DZ. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

If I was a tandem student on my first jump I would not want a camera that close to my face the whole time. Skydiving is a visual sport, back off and let him SEE the planet from the air. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

FYI, Paul Quade has an article on why adjusting the sight to nearby objects is a bad idea... http://www.futurecam.com/sightingIn.html Dave Yeh, pick an object far away for two reasons. 1) It will reduce parallax between the two cameras giving them better alignment relative to each other. 2) It will reduce your own errors in the alignment process, especially if you are viewing the video camera live feed zoomed in fully (which I recommend). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Once again you wrongly assume things about other posters in this thread. Humble? Nah. I'm not an atheist. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
