What browser are you using? I have a thick white border that goes along the top and the sides, but it gets obscured along the bottom (by the player itself) in both FF3 and IE7/8 for me. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Serious? Wow. Why? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'm working on integrating streaming HD video into my website (flash). I'm getting it close to how I want it to look, but I'm pretty inexperienced with flash (and not much more experienced with HTML). Please check the following pages and view source: http://www.matthoover.com/gallery/skydiving-videos/Z-Flock_4.0-HD.html http://www.matthoover.com/gallery/skydiving-videos/Puerto_Rico_2008-HD.html I am trying to create a border around the whole flash object (player + controls), but the bottom bit of the border is getting cut off. I'm sure there's a much better way to do this? Here it is right now snipped from the source: Edit: cool, I broke DZ.com... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

There is indeed something given and it's been said several times. It's just not something you can carry home in your hands. What does the LO give you that you can carry home in your hands? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Correct. Which is how much I sell one photo for, not an unlimited amount. -the "abnorm" (?) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Like Ed said, know what you are paying for before you pay for it. If my slot is paid, it's usually by the DZ for their own reasons. On the very rare occasion that it is paid by the jumpers themselves (this has only happened at like 2 or 3 events I can remember), I have not had any of those jumpers assume that their $1 per jump entitles them to all the pictures they want. If they did think such a thing, I'd be fine with them not paying the $1... in fact I've tried turning that down before just because I felt wrong incurring that cost to all the jumpers without giving them an option, but the LO wouldn't let me... he was the one collecting the money and then giving it to me. But I agree with you they shouldn't be paying for something they don't want. When my slot is paid, I provide a service similar to the LO. I video and debrief the jump, for free. If you want to take my photos home with you, that is not free. Regardless of whether the DZ paid my slot or you paid me $1, taking home photos will cost you. When my slot is not paid (which is the most common case) I still provide the video and debrief because I enjoy it (the same way many of use have LO'd for free before). I still edit videos and put them on my website for free. I still optimize the photos and put them in my web gallery for free. I still do my damnedest to get the photos printed in the mags and get us all exposure. And my photos are still for sale if you want to buy them. If not I'll take them home and put them on my wall and enjoy them.

You'd be better off with people who would risk being "mean" (hurting your feelings) to prevent a serious injury to your body. Your feelings will recover a lot faster. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Who/what has been hurt? I haven't. This place is honest, and you're not getting the answers you want. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nor have you said that you wouldn't jump it at 50, 75, or even 100 jumps. Nor have you said "ok, I will wait until 200 jumps." Since you're not making your own plan very clear, we have to make assumptions, and we make them based on the fact that we've seen this same thing over and over. So, will you agree to wait until 200 jumps? If so then we can stop assuming things about you. Your memory is very short... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I studied aeronautics for 4 years. What's a "moment of thrust"? For that matter, how does a wingsuit generate thrust? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I think Tony is a real person, I think he might have even been at Puerto Rico last year. I don't remember anything about his legs though. Or maybe I have him confused with someone else... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Not true, I use it in the car but bypass it in the house. Besides, you can't stick a media server in your shirt pocket. True.
-
No, it bypasses the processor in the Ipod You just confirmed my point... you're paying for the iPod processor and then not using it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
-
You might be right, but the whole idea is a little backwards. First, S/PDIF is not necessary for CD quality. That's like saying HDMI is necessary for 480p video. "CD quality" can be obtained (from a CD quality source) with a stereo analog signal, you can get the cable for 99 cents. Now, whether or not the processor in your iPod can reproduce CD quality... that is another story. However, if I understand the Wadia correctly, it isn't even using the iPod's processor, it has its own. So the thought process here is: 1) Buy pocket mp3 player with poor audio processing 2) Buy external processor to link to your iPod, to make up for its poor processing capability 3) Hook it up to your receiver with S/PDIF, which is totally unnecessary At this point, you're paying a huge premium for a crappy processor you don't even intend on using. You're also not getting "CD quality sound out of an iPod." You're getting CD quality sound out of the files stored on the iPod's disk. (there is a difference) You've turned your portable music player into nothing more than a HDD with a GUI, and there are cheaper alternatives for that. You'd be better off skipping step 1 and 2, and just building a small media server, or putting a decent sound card in your PC and either hooking it directly to your receiver, or using an extender. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Who is going??? Let's start a LIST! 1. Matt Hoover www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Of course I don't mind Bill, I'm glad somebody enjoyed my Facebook posting extravaganza. People kept asking for low-res copies of purchased prints to post in their galleries, and I finally realized I should just upload them all myself, and now everybody can tag away. You and Zach are both right, to an extent. We've come a long way, and we've also gone nowhere. It really depends on your perspective. The things we're doing today should have been possible 3 years ago, and more should be possible now. The suits have evolved but can all still fly together, a Classic 1 (or how about an S.U.I.T) can fly beside a Super Duper XS 7 Extreme Plus Rev 2. People in the past have speculated about how magnificent and efficient wingsuits will be in the future, and despite how much I love flying them, I am objective about it: we have always been and always will be glidebombs... not planes or birds. We are not efficient flying machines, and that won't ever improve too much (and still meet the current definition and virtues of a wingsuit), but we have enough fun that it doesn't matter. The biggest thing I get out of looking at my galleries from the past 3 years is just a huge sense of nostalgia, thinking about my own personal life throughout the past 3 years, how it has changed, and all the friends I've seen come and go, and those I still get to fly with regularly when I can afford to travel. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Actually it was the sinus infection that had me grounded. My lower lip was swollen so big it looked like I had been punched in the face, but I think it was an allergic reaction to something (let the speculations begin). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That doesn't sound like the Chuck I know! 2004 (Feb I think) for me. Chris Ash took me up at Skydive Pahokee on Lake Okeechobee. I got so freaking drunk that night. The next day I was hungover and the plane rides were bumpy so I was kind of getting sick. On about the 4th jump (still jumping the demo suit of course) I was so sick on the plane I almost lost it. Made it out the door somehow, forgot about it... remembered under canopy, and promptly puked on myself and the demo suit (and a car somewhere below probably) at 4000ft. I bought the suit, even though they said I didn't have to just because of the puke. A month later in March I had a chop on my 14th wingsuit jump, hardest reserve opening ever (Chuck will remember that) and my lower back still hurts to this day from it. I didn't jump for 4 months (could barely walk straight for a few weeks) and when I did start again my first wingsuit jump was scarier than my first skydive. Got over it all, obviously. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
