  1. Maybe. And I will refuse to call whatever that is a wingsuit. Hell, I'll be over 1000 years old, so I will be grumpy!
  2. Yes, this I believe as well. We are just waiting for the technology to catch up with the desire. The problem with our current perspective on the reality of a WS landing is the current design/technology limits our imagination. You guys keep throwing around this word "technology." You need to understand that the technology used to make wingsuits is neither cutting-edge nor recent. We are sewing fabrics together... to take advantage (slightly) of aerodynamic concepts that have been understood in excess of 100 years. Where exactly is the technology limited? The fundamental problem is not with the tech, it is with the human body. Unless we come up with fabrics of negative mass, then technology will not solve the problem. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  3. Is it any fun? Does anybody have any pictures of what it looks like from the air down there? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  4. Would that be this suit, Jim? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  5. Good on you for waiting. Let us know how it goes! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  6. Correct. I only provided Discovery with video footage. I did not provide any of my photos, nor were they mentioned in the license. I just spent a good deal of time on the phone with Spot and got a lot of good advice. Thanks buddy. I will post an update in this thread at some point when this is all sorted out, but for now all I will say is it might be a little while. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  7. I recently had some video footage on the Discovery channel. The show also interviewed my friend Scott who was featured in the footage. They then called some local newspapers in his area and prompted the papers to interview him. I thought it was funny that Discovery would try to drum up interest for a national show via local newspapers, but whatever. Here is the article online; attached is a scan of the print version with two of my photos. Now, they gave me photo credit... how generous of them. They also noted on the internet version that the photos were "submitted" by me, which is not true at all. The photos were taken from my website, and my watermark was intentionally and digitally removed. Look at the second attachment... you can clearly see the clouds have been "re-constructed" where the watermark was. I knew this type of thing was a risk when I designed an unobtrusive watermark that did not extend obnoxiously across the center of the photo. I knew somebody would do something like this sooner or later... but I was not expecting it from a professional publication. I will be getting in touch with the paper later today and quoting them stock photography prices for both images. I fully expect them to refuse me somehow, and I'm not sure how I'll respond to this. If they can find any legitimate means for purchasing quality photos of wingsuits in the air over Puerto Rico at a reasonable price... I will match that price. But I know for a fact they can't find that anywhere else. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  8. I got 3x 8GB for around $18. And this is Sandisk Extreme III, a quality card. slickdeals > best buy These deals pop up on average every month or so. Keep your eyes open. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  9. Hey Jenn, care to make a list of all the confirmed attendants you already have? I know I know, it sounds like something Purple Mike would say. BUT... we need a good reason for people from out of state to come... and if they see how many you have so far they might be more willing. I know Scott Bland and Scotty B both expressed interest to me recently and I told them to get in touch with you! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  12. I'll stick with my 256,000 floppy disks thank you very much. (Ok, actually it would be less with a 1.44MB floppy.... but point remains) www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  13. I am a real, actual skydiver... not an ignorant whuffo. Guess what the first thought was that went through my head when I saw Zach collide with Scott? I was extremely concerned for two good friends of mine, and I wasn't sure both of them were going to be ok. What does that tell you about how dangerous our hobby is? I understand it's dangerous ... but a stunt? Well, they talked about us as a group of friends attempting an organized formation (with certain obvious risks) led/organized by Scott Bland, our fearless leader. What about that isn't true? Stunt vs sport comes down to semantics and linguistics. I have always been of the opinion that there are two things that stand out about skydiving as an activity: it is incredibly beautiful and incredibly dangerous. Now, when I tell my friends about why I skydive, I focus on the beauty.... while the questions they always ask focus on the dangers. Honestly, that's a good thing. The last thing we want is people approaching the sport thinking it's a walk in the park. At the same time, I would have liked it if the Discovery piece had focused on the beauty of it all a little more. I knew they wouldn't, so I slipped them a Trojan horse: I made sure they would air some of my most beautiful footage (coastal shots from Puerto Rico), so that viewers would be unable to not notice the beauty of it all. I had dozens of my whuffo friends from work watch this show, and they all came back to me with lots of positive comments about how pretty the beach looked and how cool and fun wingsuit flying sounded. Only one person even asked about the dangers, and his question was, "were you actually scared when you saw that happen, or did you know it was under control?" Which shows that even he saw through the dramatic overtones of the presentation, to the point that he was surprised when I said that, yes, I was scared for the people in the collision. Tell you what: when you own a TV network that is willing to promote wingsuit skydiving in a light that both you and I would agree is positive... I'll give you a fair deal on some footage. And that goes for any other TV network executives reading this thread. Until then, I will take what I can get. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  15. $$$ I'm a whore. And, as much as we laugh at the silly announcer, they got almost all their facts right in a mis-guided sort of way. "the most dangerous formation of all - the stack!" Probably came from Scott explaining the risks of the stack with the in-line burbles. It is indeed a unique risk that none of the other formations shared. "the fearless leader instructed his companions to abort the dive and pull their chutes" Well, he signaled breakoff, which is pretty much exactly that. The list goes on. They used the wrong words and added a bunch of unnecessary drama. But there are still enough people in this world who don't know what a wingsuit is, that any exposure is better than none. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  16. You're just mad that they exposed your secret weakness. "When mortals play superman, gravity is their kryptonite." www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  17. I have it on my DirecTV DVR, and if anybody can tell me how to get it off there I will be more than happy to share it. I will figure it out eventually on my own, I know it is possible but I do not expect it to be easy. I will get to it in a few days when I have some time to really mess with it. They are also supposed to be sending me a DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody else put it on Youtube before that though. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  18. I just watched this again and noticed that every time they showed the collision (and the second collision) they dubbed over the audio with sounds of somebody screaming in pain with wind noise going by. It sounded familiar to me... I am almost positive they stole it from Jade's canopy collision that they aired a few weeks ago (link in OP)... look at around 0:54 in that Youtube video... that is the sound they used. Lame. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  19. Yeh, they didn't use any of yours, did they? That sucks... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  20. Nope, I am 99% sure it is actually from the same jump (would have to go review the footage again to be sure). They did show a few different jumps, like the "pyramid" (diamond) over the beach, which they tried to make look like part of the same jump. But the 3-way collision (wasn't that you and Turtle and Danny Mattox?) was from the same jump as Scott and Zach's collision. I was surprised too when I realized that, when I was looking through footage to send them. Too much funny stuff in the commentary. I'm gonna have to listen to it again at some point just for a laugh. Props to Scott for the good interviews. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  21. Bump. Tonight is the night! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  22. Not bad. Thanks for posting it! I too need to take off my wingsuit and learn to regular freefly. Although I have hit 225mph in a wingsuit dive before, I know that much. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
