How to fix a SuperMach 1: make it into an S-Bird!
The111 replied to SkymonkeyONE's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Where's the before/after pics? Was it just material addition, or did you have to do addition and removal? Who did the physical work? Nice job! I still haven't flown one of the _-bird suits... but they do look more balanced... maybe I should get this done to my SM1. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

What is the surface area of your paraglider? What is the surface area of your crazy long winged suit idea? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Completely agreed. The things you see as "real and understandable" are very confused and nonsensical. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Says Scott after learning the hard way with several suits. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Yes, and then it would not be called a wingsuit. It would be called a wing apparatus, or whatever you want to name it. A suit is something you wear... to the scale of your body. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ah, now I get it. I was wondering what he was doing in that picture. I forgot all about the stuka dives! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Great video as always Jarno! It's saying something that I managed to keep watching through 3+ minutes of video of your face. The sunset, clouds, lighting in that segment was unreal though. Sky seemed extra blue too... any filters or post processing? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I think we're all insane... but here's the difference between AAD and hook knife. If knocked unconscious in freefall, you will NOT survive without an AAD. If tangled in a canopy (whether in the air on in the water), you CAN survive without a hook knife. Not 100% of the time, but it is possible. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ok, I'll bite... what is that one aspect? Seems that would have been important to include in your post. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You are right. More should be taken into account. The numbers are a bare minimum. Track your ass off and do practice pulls, in addition to meeting those numbers, and you'll have a great first flight. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've seen multiple close calls of my own fault alone. Almost all of them were caused by aggressive approaches. Since then I have always approached slower. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

New Photoshop CS5 feature that is for SKYDIVING !!!

Canon 10-22 costs $700 and has no fisheye. Defishing solutions have been around for a long time, but I guess it is cool to have them integrated so readily into PS. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
A Wingsuit Flat Spins is mostly an awesome horror scenario everyone loves using to scare themselves and others to death. Fully agreeing. Just name these instabilities spins or tumbles, like any other dicipline. We just have a bit more surface and/or drag helping to increase momentum compared to those situations on a normal skydive, making recovery a bit harder. I got in a "flat spin" in my level 5 AFF jump. Was supposed to do a single backflip and ended up doing about 30. I guess my body just has a dangerous shape that causes "flat spins." www.WingsuitPhotos.com

One thing to consider is that wingsuits are changing at a very rapid pace. I don't know much about acrobatic planes, but I would wager that they are not changing nearly this rapidly. You can work toward a goal without having that goal in your locker. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

An update from Ashley: In that case, I will be sleeping in tomorrow and showing up at the DZ at noon (per usual). www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
I do not own an Intro, but I am pretty sure it's the smallest of the 3 suits listed. I do own both an S3 and a P2, and I am almost positive the S3 has more surface area, and it has that area (in the leg) distributed in a less beginner friendly way (narrower and longer). For FFC: Intro: yes P2: yes (maybe not quite ideal) S3: not a good choice IMO www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Can you elaborate on these jumps? These jumps have peaked my interest given the brief description I've heard ... Actually, I think it is "piqued" your interest... although your way is a pretty good pun. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I will try to come this year, can't make any solid plans yet as I hope to be moving from TX->CA at some point this summer, but if that move does not interfere, I should be there! Looking forward to finally being able to attend this one. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
