Yup, everything you said is right Luke. I have the HC90 and played around with it last night, it goes down to 1 second intervals and records every several frames at a time. I did 5 second intervals for an hour while I walked around my room. It looks choppy because of the nature of how fast my movements are (compared to a sunrise), but for my intended use it should work perfectly. Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry you won't be here next week Luke. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You mean the focus, when you say set the camera to manual? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The premature openings at WFFC were not due to the orientation of the BASE pouch, it could have happened in this configuration too. The flyers who had prematures (and almost every flyer on the load) went radically unstable, tumbling out the door and exposing their back and the PC, at various angles, to the relative wind. So, high speed exits with a BASE pouch are not necessarily bad. Backflying is, as are acrobatics or unintentional tumbling (the higher the speed while tumbling, the worse). IMO the main factor here is that the BASE pouch is not nearly as secure in trapping the PC (the appealing factor when it comes to BASE, since it makes it easier to get out), compared to a traditional BOC. So if your PC is in a BASE pouch, try to keep it from seeing the relative wind. It's sort of the PC-stowing equivalent of a non freefly safe container. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I found a few other threads on this but I'm interested in a specific comparison here. If I want to capture a sunrise, for example, what is better - continuous recording and then speed it up in editing software later, or use the interval record mode in the camera? Obviously the first choice will use up an entire tape in an hour... assuming that I don't mind the loss, and that the sunrise will "complete" within one hour (since I would not be able to swap tapes without screwing up camera position probably), I would think this method would be more robust. Anybody have any experience with both methods? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Any pictures of yourself while working ???
The111 replied to ArnoSchutte's topic in Photography and Video
i have one of those but find it heavy and was thinking of moving to a sigma 14mm. Dude, the Canon 10-22mm is lighter than most zoom and fixed lenses, according to the specs. It is 380g, according to the Canon website. The Sigma website quotes their 14mm at 630g. Not sure that's going to feel any lighter. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Video please.

Which is effectively 16-35mm, on the only camera models it works with. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

That's a small canopy you got there. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Good or bad at what? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Haha, I was waiting for that. Well regardless, Perry is the man who got not one, but TWO wingsuit pictures in this month's magazine. That is worthy of praise, because there has been a shortage of wingsuit pictures for far too long (the main reason I bought my new still camera, and I plan on sending them TONS of pictures every month until they start changing, in the style of Andy Dufresne in the Shawshank Redemption). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Can you remove the XT without removing the PC? Or do you have to remove PC to get to XT screw? That was my concern with my setup... if I put camera close together, the XT screw will be covered by DVcam. I have GOT to learn to work with metal... I am an engineer and I design complex metal structures all the time, so I should be able to make my own stuff. But I have no access to machine shop, the one here at work is NOT a viable option for personal use, this is a secured military contractor. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

Arno, Could you post a closer pic of your topmount setup? I have a similar (but inferior) setup shown here. I like how close you have your cameras together, looks like you have a special mount sort of similar to Wes Rich's T plates. I'd be curious to see how it works, I've also always wondered how you can mount the cameras so close together and still be able to access the camera screw? EDIT: Added picture of myself to stay on thread topic. -
"5000 BASE jumpers"... are there really that many? I know a lot of skydivers who have made only one or two... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You obviously don't understand how "PSI-level" plays into all of this. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Couple this with the fact that Sony changes their product lineup constantly (so if your camera breaks in 2 years you probably won't be able to buy it, new, again), and you have one of the reasons I did not get an FF2. A very nice looking helmet, but this is the major disadvantage, in my mind. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Do you know this to be true for fact? I checked on the Sony page and it says "LANC port: N/A" which isn't quite conclusive, but does not sound optimistic. I fly an HC90 which has a LANC port, as does the new HC96 (according to specs). The HC32 did have one also, so I find it odd that the HC36 would not. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Just an observation - if the flat surface is as narrow as you say, won't your still camera be "hanging over the edges" no matter what you do? (i.e. even if you put the strobo longways) If it bothers you that much, mount the strobo plate then fill the gaps with triangles of foam, and gaffers tape them in place maybe? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Congratulations Medusa! With his new born baby!
The111 replied to medusa's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The baby bird is only one week old but has already left the nest. Attached are several pics from today's jumps, including the backwards-rigging mentioned in Chuck's post. ALSO, there is another interesting sequence of pictures which shows Medusa installing (and then removing) his new legwing extension, while in freefall. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
In Medusa's own words: "Matt, I have an idea so stupid only I could have thought of it." In Medusa's defense, it really wasn't all that stupid, from a safety standpoint at least. I told him I wouldn't want to try it, and I wouldn't recommend he do it either, but since he was doing it regardless, I made sure all his handles were accessible, etc. And I took pictures and video. I am attaching pictures in his "newborn baby thread". www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I did, however they are 4 different pictures I was about to ask about that... that "exit shot" seemed a little too good to be true. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
