U.S. army deserter seeking refugee status in Canada
slug replied to IanHarrop's topic in Speakers Corner
Another SC poster debunked. Hi Tuna I couldn't agree with you more everyone in SC is full of it except you and me. -
We picked up our lab? mix at the pound when he was two month's old. In One month he doubled in weight from 10# to 20#. One of our dogs (male lab mix 10 Yo ) has adopted the new puppy Our other lab mix female will tolerate him unless he wants to "play". Just a gentle growl and the puppy knows not to go there. Glad we got the pup we laugh at the pack interaction every day. The county will only allow us to have 6 dogs....... The last time we had three lab? we bought 1000# of dog food/yr. One good vet bill could equal that easy. R.I.P.

Blue Flu was a term I first heard when the police in NYC (blue uniforms) wanted to go on strike which wasn't allowed. Haven't you heard this is the flu season you want to go to work and infect the whole office just befor Xmas Stay home if your sick R.i.P.

By the definition, live ones can replace live ones, dead ones can replace dead ones... a dead troop is not interchangable with a live troop. J So here we are on Dec 7 2004 the 63rd anniversery of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We're in another war where our young soldiers and innocent women and children are dying And you all are debateing fun·gi·ble 2. Interchangeable. n. Something that is exchangeable or substitutable. Often used in the plural. To bad so sad. 41 R.I.P.

there is quiet a difference between intelligence and education.... it doesnt really matter how bright you are if you never have an environment to expand and refine your basic abilities.. an average student can go much farther with a good education than an intelligent one who never leaves the farm... Where's Bill Gates when we need him 41

I'm not a pro war person but since everyone else is just chucking & jiving (even those that are young enough to enlist) Our exit stratergy is is on schedual as planed. The coalition met the timetable for turning over control of the country toa interim Iragi gov't. The next benchmark will be the election on Jan 30 2005 for the Iraqi's to elect their own leaders. After that when the coalition determines the elected Iraqi Gov't is in control and should be able to protect themselves the coalition will leave. You know kind of like VN & Korea Mission accomplished!!!! WAG prior to mid term elections. 41 R.I.P.

U.S. army deserter seeking refugee status in Canada
slug replied to IanHarrop's topic in Speakers Corner
QuoteThis article is in regard to an American deserter that is applying to stay in Canada as a refugee. What are your thoughts? I personally believe that if he joined up and was willing to take the Army's money for a college education, then he is obligated to perform the tasks they assign him and go where he is told to go. Those are my thoughts, what are yours?Quote Hi Ian Me thinks same as you eh! Never had a problem with the "draft dodgers" going to canada to avoid a "selective" draft. IMO This case is different the guy signed a contract, got some bennies, and now he doesn't want to fullfill his part of the contract Of course the Canadian courts will decide whats legal. Our opinion don't mean squat eh -
Hi I think the person your responding to is exercising his right to free speech. Your response is similar to the phrase used against the anti war protestors in the 60's "America Love it or leave it" Us Old farts remember that stuff Can't we just agree that we disagree and leave it at that. This isn't your country it's our country who are you to suggest to someone they leave their country because they don't agree with your belief's. USAF 66-70 R.I.P.

Fears of Troops Spread Thin, Specter of the Draft
slug replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
We are doing both successfully. You can paste links to articles of people's opinions all you want. Doesn't change anything. How many days in the military did you spend? How many years did you spend of your life working for Disney? Anyone can copy and paste. What I'm looking for is a sign of an intelligent argument as to why some feel we are spread too thin. Hi Tuna Just answer the points we've already raised? We have already asked you this at least 3 times and all you want to you is argue and avoid the questions. Remember Baghdad Bob? If your puting all you faith in what Mr Rumsfeld says about our troop strength fine just tell us. Forty one R.I.P. -
Fears of Troops Spread Thin, Specter of the Draft

Hi Quade Sorry but i agree with you -
In battle there are indeed unknown risks that soldiers go in to, by order of their higher command. They don't question in, they trust and go. They, the soldiers, are not diminished by it. In a demo, work related or not, military or not, there are known risks that PRO rated skydivers are trained how to judge beforehand and make decisions for themselves and their safety. In war--go means GO! This is not the same thing. ltdiver Sorry but i don't think a "pro" rateing means anything In the military. Ever read the story about the king who wasn't wearing any cloth's

Affirmative. Some people are able to make logical conclusions based on fasts and events. It also takes the ability to be biased and not a sheep to their party. Dude.... Glad I wasn't the only one that caught that! Me thinks everyone except "the 42 caught it" but what the point confusing the issue with the facts. Bump R.I.P. -
I'll wait until the judge or jury hears all the facts about who did what when and where. Sometimes in the militarya persons options are limited due to the "chain of command". Can someone tell us if the folks in England are getting as sue crazy as we are in the U.S.. R.I.P.

Fears of Troops Spread Thin, Specter of the Draft

Tuna Lets try this again what is your source of info to your statement "we are not remotely close to being spread too thin." You've made this statement 3 times we've asked for your source of info with no backup so is this just your opinion, something that came to you in a dream, a wish, or have you been talking with your friends at the highest level of the Gov't that you can't disclose. Unless you reply with something better than "42" I guess that makes you a aheep. If you disagree nod your head. R.I.P. R.I.P. -

Hi Tuna In case you missed my response to your post above here it is again Agree with everything but your opinion being spread to thin. Sounds like folks being extended, sent back for second tour, stop loss, inactive reserves, etc. Got any info to back up your claim about our troop strngth? How about counciling some of the young folks in SC about are the benifits of serving their country, regardless of their liberal/conservative beliefs. Like some of the old farts did. No wailing or flailing you don't have to reveal your rational why you and the highest level in the pentagon don't [url]think our soldiers aren't spread to thin in Iraq. Or are you saying that their will be a election in Iraq on Jan 30 2005 no matter what happens between now and the election. Do you think once a democraticly elected Iraqi gov't is in place that the coalition forces can leave after a "suitable transition period" and we can claim we successfully completed mission. I suspect that Iraq will end up in a civil war after the coalition leaves and we'll just put a spin on it and blame on the iraq's rather than ourselves for doing a half assed job due to a shortage of coalition troops. Lets support our troops once they return and their families this holiday season they will need it. R.I.P. -
Hi! Jack Last time we saw Frenchy was at Lake Wales about three-four years ago. He was still making one jump/day early morning, and getting wood for the fire. I think he had a room in the hanger.....the one thats gone..... If Frenchy "went in" after that it was from old age. or his room just got blown away. R.I.P.

Took a guy out to dinner and he ordered a quad martini (I was buying quad 1,2,3,4, damn) then he ordered a second quad while we were still nursing our heini. He must have got a buzz going because the next round he order a double.

We had a room mate that took the gov't up on their offer to pay for her nursing school. she took the bait and had to payback the gov't with a year in Viet nam right out of nursing school and some more time in the U.S. Poor timing and a tough job right out of school Poor timing like the N.G. and reserve's. Draft Dr's and nurses? don't think so, maybe pay off their student loans if their already out of school, or send them to school on the gov't nickel with strings attached. If there's a national emergency in the U.S. HMO's contractors, dr'sut of retirement etc can do the job. the gov't needs to have a plan for everything R.I.P. -

Nothing. If there is cause to go to war. That doesnt happen to be the case. Hi Stuffit I agreee with you however I'm a little disapointed with some of the outstanding/outspoken folks (leave politics out of it) who feel there is a need to go to war and would rather talk about their beliefs in SC rather than walk the walk No cussing, no joking no, no name calling just the way I see it. You have a reason for not enlisting, I never had a problem with the guy's (old fart) who split for canada they didn't believe in the war so they left rather than get drafted. MM look in the mirror boys and girls and what do you see? A person in a uniform or a person that's to busy. R.I.P. -

That supposed to be funny Mr kennedy Your unemployed, your country needs you, you agree with GW's policies why aren't you helping the GW and your country out!!!!! You already ahead of the learning curve, you've been carrying a gun or two for a long time for self protection and practice using it so why don't you put all your knowledge to some use. BTW the military has lots of jobs besides killing people you could be a pilot, computer jocky, medic mechanic, supply clerk, Can people (Men & Women) still enlist for two years? R.I.P. -
