BTW the destruction of high density puplic housing has been going on for the last 20 yr's. Something needed to be done, it will be interesting to see if this solves any problems, or create more. At least in Chicago they built new single family homes for those removed from the public housing units before they destroyed them. Gangs are like termites - they will just move to the next house that doesn't get treated monthly. Affirmative The oldest profession is still in businessjust in a different area R.I.P.

U.S. army deserter seeking refugee status in Canada
slug replied to IanHarrop's topic in Speakers Corner
Rons already done his thing from what i read. How about a broader questionlike: Has anyone seen someone from their DZ leave the good life for god and country to enlist in the military? If so how many? Stop loss, activating the IR (drafted)and Merc's (big $$$$) don't count. R.i.P. -
Negative It only moves the problem to another hood. No one went to jail so where's the victory. BTW the destruction of high density puplic housing has been going on for the last 20 yr's. R.I.P. Carry on R.i.P.

Recruiters in all branches of service are "making their mission". Only the National Guard is falling short. I can only speak from what I see, the 101st is adding a whole Brigade to its Division at Ft. Campbell, KY. They can't build barracks fast enough and new facilities are being built all over the place. This growth is happening all over the Army. "Making their mission" is another buzzward for 100% execution with zero negative indicators. Just lower the mission requirements to achieve success. Mission accomplished. I suspect that the new constuction your seeing is the replacement of WW2 infrastucture that's been going on for the last 20 yr's. Capacity stay's the same just more bells and whistles. R.I.P.

Damn Damn Damn This is making me sick. We've finally gone full circle. I think correct that I know Bill is correct. The only thing holding this together is the unoffical draft. But that can't last forever. Bills chart reflects a unlimited source of manpower which isn't the case in this conflict. IMO after the sucessful elections in january we'll start downsizeing leave some contractors to advisor the iraq military and police and let the iraqi's take over. The medals awarded to Tenet, Bremmer etc are examples of the reality of the situation we're in and how we'll "win" in Iraq. Mission accomplished sir. BTW I think we could have won in VN if the politicians hadn't pulled a Fallujah over and over again. But thats in the past. Now we're importing goods from VN, have a nice monument honoring 50,000 lost lives and unknown wounded, and children who never knew their dad. R.I.P.

From the WTF-files -- Tenet & Bremmer receive Medal of Freedom
slug replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Hi John Checked you reference to the medal prediction. Damn We could start a comedy routine together, I set em up and you knock em down. Up -
We shot at it to teach us it's limits. 5.56 bounced off with a nice scratch. 7.62 went right through. Since most bad guys seemed to be carrying an AK or some variant of an AK....Well it did not make us feel good. Damn so we designed body armor (B.A.) to protect us from our own weapons but not the enemy who would be using 7.62 ammo If I was bad guy in Iraq and the infidels were using 5.5? stuff Do you know if the latest and the greatest B.A. will stop a 7.62 round? R.I.P.

Hi GM IMO Sen fritz's comments about GW's national security advisor weren't based on her race or gender or political orentation. ""Condoleezza Rice. "She ought to go back to teaching Russian or whatever it was," the one-time Dixiecrat complained. "I've been in security, I've been working on intelligence. And for her to come onto the television and saying on 9/11 there was nothing specific. Nothing specific. You don't say that"" OBL was around before 9/11 connie says they didn't have any actionable intelligence to prevent 9/11. Say what you want GPS coordinates, names ss numbers and DOB Roger IMO this is similar to Rummy saying you go to war with what you got. This challenging international situation started a long time during both Democrate and republican andministrations ago and now the pots starting to boil over. GW Rummy Connie show us you stuff. Medals and awards pats on the back from ea other don't mean squat. It's about homeland security and the economy. Go get em. If you think we don't have segreation in parts of this country the next time you visit Z hills look around the stores in town and tell us who's working and shoping there. R.I.P.

Maybe you have not looked hard enough? Would you post it if you did? Politic's again It's a dirty business on both sides Live with it. It's not going to go away. R.i.P.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, only illustrate the significant weaknesses of a system he believes is infallable. He claims the engineering side can offer no useful info, and I am saying that that is where the majority of useful info comes from. Physical testing is great for verification, but as a first means of information, it is a poor path. This is speakers corner

"A dyed in the wool republican" Sounds like another political debate I'm not getting on this merry go round I'm out of here

Exactly right... We had a employee take the keys to a company car and take it out of state. The police had to recover it, and he was arrested - but since he was an employee at the time and we willfully gave him access to the keys - the insurance said, "sorry" and would not repair the damage unless we could prove it was caused by an accident with another object... But since the engine was damaged, it was not an accident. Insurance companies like to collect premiumsyou file a claim then they start telling you about the fine print. Lesson learned read the fine print befor you file your claim so you use the correct buzz words. Lying is bad but you only have to answer the questions they ask, the less said the better IMO R.I.P.

A little off topic you all got semesters or Qtrs? Qtrs=more finals, 50% more finals bad news IMO. R.I.P.

He's going to be nuts &/or brain dead in 10 yr's. The longer he lives the nutty he's going to get. Don't think there's enough room in his cell to practice his golf swing, just play the game in his mind as long as it lasts.

I agree soldiers lives come first just bad planning after the shock and awe, the iraqi's were supposed to meet us with open arms we'd put out the oil fire's and the iraqi's would be in the oil business and clean up their own mess with their own money. things didn't work out that way Shit happens in war that why you don't want to do it. I don't think the long lead time is a red tape problem just that the big boy's don't want to admit the screwed up and call out the calvery. Hell if they can't supply the existing troops how can they support all the troops needed to do the job. They could do it we have the production capacity and money Rummy don't want to admit he and his planners been wrong This supply FUBAR tells me they don't have a plan to increase troop strength. Macnamarra Sec of defence admitted he screwed up in Viet nam 30 yr's after the fact. History will tell if Rummy is blowing smoke. I hope I'm wrong, and Rummy & Tuna is right

IMO Falling out of a tree in a park is safer. Ever see a insurance company try and sue a tree. The owner of a house has homeowners insurance. R.I.P.

I voted no After you've been around for a while just look who started the thread. Their like a broken record. Politic's Bush admin bashingLiberal bashing Gun stuff. SOS It is entertaining if you don't take it to seriously. LWOP in SC 24/7 R.I.P.
-
justice should serve, and LWOP is not justice IMO. I'd hang him at the town square. Thats what the prosecuter said no deals but then they were looking at 20 yr's of crims 40+ trials etc. They cut a deal with Ridgeway to show them the bones that hadn't been located yet to give closure to the families for LWOP. Ridgeway is still on the hook if he forgot to confess to one victim and the prosecuter finds out the deal is null and void. Now every capital case in King county Wa. there's the ridgeway defence if he got life why can't my client confess and get LWOP.

Haliburton/Brown & root have a history of working in the oil industry. During the misplan someone thought that Sadam would ignight the oil fields and destroy the oil infrastucture like Kuwait, so haliburton/B&R were a logical choice. The Corps of eengineers set up a special office in Iraq to admin the contract. check their Web sight USACE iraq Surprise! very little damage to the oil wells, pump stations and other oil facilities. But Haliburtan had a contract for X dollars so the scope was changed and grew and grew. Armored Humvees Haliburton subontract the work out like everything else. R.i.P.

The green river murderer confessed to 40 something murders over 20 yr's plus doing all kinds of sicko stuff after the fact and he got LWOP this yr so who deserve's the death penality. Killing 50 victim in 15 yr's. BTW his excuse was he didn't like to pay for sex.His victims of choice were working girls R.I.P.

Not for me it happens all the time it can even happen while Petterson is doing LWOP. The dude is in serious trouble. Which he deserves. Best thing peterson can do is get his head straight accept his situation and go play golf 24/7 and enjoy himself until he dies, or there's always the god squad. Maybe the big guy can make his stay in the big house easier. The meds will help. If I had LWOP I hope I could never leave my cell and go to the DZ ever day until I didn't wake up. Dead man living R.i.P.

HI RMS 50% 0f marriages end up in divorce usually due to money. I don't have a clue how many marriages end in the murder of the spouse. Some people play golf, some people skydive, lot's get divorced, most don't kill their wives. R.i.P.
