  1. Don't feel bad, my mother called me "AngeleR" for years. I asked her why she named me 'Angela' if she couldn't pronounce it. haha. After many many many years of correcting her, she finally says it right, :) Angela.
  2. Awe, I mentioned you, Alana! I think you seem like a fun chick:) Hope I get to meet you if/when you get down to FL. Just let me know which dz you'll be chillin' at and i'll come join:) Angela
  3. Wow, don't know how I missed this thread. I want to meet everyone. I have already met lots of people from here ... Rdutch (hottie), Sunnydee123 (all around awesome chick!), Kramer (nicest guy you'll ever meet), Ron (cutie), Bodypilot90 (will always be my first ) to name a few. Like I said, I hope to meet lots and lots of dz.commers. If anyone comes to Fla, look me up. A few I think of off the top of my head that I really want to meet are : Vanillaskygirl, Alanab, Skymama, Sunshine, Mochaskychick, Canuckinusa, jumper03, gosh, ya know, there really are too many! Hope 2 see all of you one day! Angela.
  4. "America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth — that can bite and hurt you, aggressive," Depp was quoted as saying. Very well spoken, lol!!! You'd think with the $$ he makes he could spare a bit toward an education. *sigh*. What an idiot! Angela.
  5. z-hills has lots of signs asking you to dispose properly of your butts, and also has lots of places to do so. I think this helps a lot. I know I use them. I don't smoke all that much, mostly on weekends. I'm very busy during the week. I don't have an addictive personality, so I quit for days at a time no problems, but still I enjoy smoking while I drink, and on the weekends so I do it. I will not smoke or allow anyone else to smoke in my house. It smells and I have a dog. I think it is wrong for people to smoke with their kids in the house. My aunt does it and her son has asthma. A friend also does it. I don't make a fuss about it, they aren't my kids, and regardless of what I think, it's none of my business. Angela.
  6. Yes you did! I much appreciated it, Kramer, you're an awesome guy! Me: I am getting 500+$ check cut to me from financial aid, this should pay my overdraft off. I just got a check from my old mtg co for my escrow balance, 127$ (jump $$! ) I get three paychecks in October (savings for a rig). My brother just got out of prison:) I am finally fixing my brakes on Saturday. I may get to hang out with Sunnydee on Sunday in Sebastian. I went to the pool today and studied chemistry rather than swimming the whole time. There is beer at my house waiting for me:) I've made more friends in the last 6 weeks than in my entire life. Angela.
  7. hell yeah they are fun......there is a reason why my name on dz.com is "pop" Hehe. I always thought you were old and liked being called 'pop'. lol!! The hop n pop from 3500ft is required now for the 'a' card, so everyone has to do them. I was told that lots of people don't want to, I was like 'hell yea!'. Angela.
  8. awesome! congrads to ya, Softlandings!! I just got mine this past wknd, too. I love hop n pops, those r fun! :) Angela.
  9. I dialed Viking on Friday, I think.. haha. Kris called me on Sunday night I believe, but I didn't get the call. :( Angela.
  10. I'll definitely read up there. In the meantime, what is the best canopy ctrl book I can buy? I think one person recommended one book, i'll look back. Does everyone concur? Are there lots of books on this? thx ! Angela.
  11. How do you know, if you aren't the one doing them, that is? I mean, can you really believe everything you hear? Have you SEEN the action,... or is it that you are also getting more than your fair share? :) Angela.
  12. Hi there! Yeah, I definitely want to take the class! My landings are pretty soft n sweet, but usually I am a last minute target planner. I try to plan ahead, but for some reason, never do it right. I usually come pretty close to target, but there are times i'm way off. I fly in brakes sometimes just to target, rather than doing the planning that I needed to. It works, but shouldn't be necessary if I had planned ahead better. I could definitely benefit from a class. Angela.
  13. haha! I had the same problem for a while. First through AFF, then the first few times I started jumping with people, i'd go over the dive again and again in my head, couldn't sleep, didn't want to. Good luck with 6! Angela.
  14. Primus does not suck! And, Les waved at me, i'm sure of it!! hehe. Anyhow, um, yes, you rock, and everyone loves you, Jess! I don't know you, and I think ur cool:) Angela.
  15. Thanks all! I'm gonna try to get some $ together for canopy ctrl courses and go from there. Maybe pick up that book, too:) Maybe I can find someone willing to do CReW with me in z-hillz, seems to be lots of people willing to take on newbies there:) thx! Angela.
  16. Looks like i'll be getting back 500+$ If I were to take 3 more credits, discounting the expense of it, I would get back a net of 1800$! But, I really can't take 3 more credits. I'm already a week behind in these classes and will be hard pressed to catch up. But, 500$ will be nice. No, it will not be saved. But, on the up side, they put 400$ away toward my Summer college because i'm a part time student, so i'll have that there come summer:) I'll still be poor when I reapply, so hopefully i'll get the grant again:p Angela.
  17. I recently spent a week up in Deland and I had a great time! I made friends with a lot of people, jumped with 4 different people even though I was still on student status. I was trying to get my A card filled out, and did get some things signed off, but had a hard time of getting the entire card taken care of. There are a lot of things on that card, and you really need an instructor to sit with you and discuss pilot stuff, plane procedures, equipment stuff, etc. In an entire week I did not accomplish much on that card, but I did have a blast with the locals! And, did make lots of fun jumps:) The guys took good care of me there, when I was sick, I was kept company and brought water. When bored, people hung out with me, chatted, etc. I even went on a road trip with the Deland hotties to z-hills one weekend. And, there was a nightlife around some nights, just not every night for every one. I'm a pretty social and flirtatious person, so I can usually find someone to chill with. I can see how you could get bored if you don't put yourself out there, tho. On the flip side, I really enjoyed my time in z-hills, too! I have been invited to do rw and stuff in groups and will definitely do that next time. They have swooping there, and that is fun to watch. And, the nightlife at the dz is pretty cool! The people are a blast as well. I wish I could combine them. I definitely like both dropzones. I think Bob Hallet is a real cool guy, and much of the staff at Deland are really nice people (especially the packers! ). Ok, I know I really didn't argue one way or the other. I like them both, for diff reasons. But, i'll probably be spending more time in Z-hills doing fun jumps. I do plan to get to Deland to get some learning done, and to visit with all the friends I met there. Angela.
  18. Wow! Congrads, Dee! Glad you made it, though we could all see that comin'! haha. Can't wait to make some jumps with you soon, pm me when your around. Have a blast! Angela.
  19. Looks like so much fun! I just started jumping 6 weeks ago, just go my A license, so I know I obviously can't expect to be a swooper anytime soon, but it sure is something to look forward to! I just downsized to a 170sf canopy and i'm hoping to buy something maybe by Christmas and put a 150sf in it. I would like to stay on a 150sf for a while until I can really fly it well. How long until you started swooping? I would like to take canopy control classes with Scott Miller in Deland soon. How often do you recommend taking canopy control courses? Is now a good time to start? (I only have 25 jumps, but I don't think i'm learning too much by myself). Any other tips? Anything I can try on my canopy that will be new and exciting? thx! Angela.
  20. Oh, please! You r a swooper, I misssed a lot of it, but we all have good and bad days. Plus, practice makes perfect so go out there and perfect it you hot swooper, you! :) Angela. (I wanna swoop, too )
  21. Darnit! Ok, well, I know I will spend it if they sent it, i'll just plan on paying for it when summer comes around, then... or i'll apply for a loan or something. Thx! Angela.
  22. Hi, Teresa! I don't mean to say stop listening to the JMs, but definitely try to feel it out on a ZP canopy. It takes a little bit to begin to see when the right time to flare is (like Denren said, depth perception), but even once you do, you have to feel it out a bit. Don't just say, oh, it's time to flare, and in one motion flare it. Ease into the flare, you'll feel yourself get lift, you know you don't want too much lift too high, or you'll be done with your flare and still too far off the ground and you'll drop. But, you also don't want to only give a little bit of flare and never finish it before hitting the ground because that will hurt. It takes a little practice, that's for sure. I had my share of hard landings, luckily haven't broken anything yet (knock on wood). If you know you screwed up and are gonna land hard, plf! You'll get it soon, it'll likely take a few more not so nice landings, just try not to break anything else in the meantime, k? ! :) Angela.
  23. Thanks all! I can't wait to get that check!! But, on another note, reading up on them, I see that you don't get grants for summer, but that any extra $$ left during fall or winter may be applied toward summer, ask school for more info. So, I may have to leave it there for summer cuz I can't take off summers, I get the most done over the summer. thx again! Angela.
  24. That was a very long story, haha. ! Felt like I went though the trip, too. I can't believe we hit that tree, lol!! j/k. Anyhow, glad you made it, and good luck in your new state! :) Angela.
