  1. thx, all. I'm not trying to make the sport look bad, I plan on responsible piloting. I am just saying that i'm not asking for sympathy if something happens, and that this thread was not a request for an appropriate canopy size. I know the consequences of screwing up under canopy, just like I know the possible consequences of skydiving in general. I am an adult, and am able to make my own decisions, be they good or bad. I am not trying to be 'cool', I just happen to like fast... fast = fun, at least for me. I like the 150, it flies better, is a bit faster, though not by much, and I am comfortable with it. Thanks for everyones concern. Canuck, yep, pretty much. good luck to you, too:) Angela.
  2. Wow! Thanks for everyones help/offers for help! The situation has been rectified. The worst part is what they asked me to do, they found that i'd done a few months ago, and for the life of me I can't remember how I did it, although I do remember doing it. ugh, this is where notes would be handy. I'll look more into it later. Sorry that this became a flame war. Thx again. Angela
  3. I wear contacts, too. I've only worn the flexvisions, but haven't had any problems. Of course, i'm kinda a contact rebel, I leave them in for a week at a time, so maybe my eyes are just used to abuse. Good luck, Angela.
  4. This thread was not about what size gear I should jump, i've already decided on that and am not asking for anyones help as I don't want to be one of those people who asks and then does what they want, anyhow. I am jumping the 150, I like the canopy, it flies nicely. I feel safer in turbulence, too. I am working on buying gear within the next few weeks, and I like the 150 and that is what I plan to buy. I will do my best to learn to fly it without getting hurt, but it is my own problem if I do get hurt. I'm not asking for any tears, and if it happens, you can link this post to any memorial of mine on this site. I take full responsibility. So, yes, you did interpret that response correctly. End of subject. Thanks. Angela.
  5. Awesome! The gear I rented was definitely not freefly friendly. It was velcro everywhere (main pin cover, risers), it held a Sabre170. I am talking to some people about used gear. Sure wish I was a gear expert like you, Lisa! Angela.
  6. Wow, congrads!! You may even be more excited than I was (if that is possible?). It is quite an amazing experience. I'm gonna get some gear next month, and that in itself is pretty damn awesome! I can't wait! ! The most fun aff levels are the ones you do the back& fwd loops on, I think maybe 5 & 7? Have a blast!! Angela.
  7. Um, calm down, n stuff. First off, I don't want to argue with you here. I did not downsize from a 230, i downsized from a 190. When I went up there, Deland upsized me to a 230 for 3 whole jumps b4 I went back to the 190. Secondly, I am working on my approach, I am not doing a fast hook turn or anything, and i'm flying straight in time to land properly. I know that it is not the best way, and that is why i'm working on it. Third, yes, I am hoping to take that course, but Scott has not gotten back to me since his first reply, so I don't know if i'm going to get to take it then or not, but certainly i'm hoping so. Maybe he does suggest another canopy, i'm not gonna come crying here for support for jumping the 150. I'm gonna jump the damn thing regardless, because I like it, and i'm not gonna blame you or anyone else if something happens to me on it. Thanks for your support. Angela.
  8. I'm looking for used gear now. I can't wait too long, tho, cuz i've got to make dives, and it's hard with no rig. +, the rentals at Sebastian are not freefly friendly, so I end up driving to Z-hills which is FAAAR (but worth the ride! :) ) thx! Angela.

    EFS!

New to skydving, i've never heard of EFS... So, I looked it up... for those who are sky virgins like myself : "EFS Acronym for the Skydivers 'creed' - "Every Fine Sunday" (or is that "Eat Fuck Skydive") " Personally, I like the second definition better:D Angela.
  10. Wow, Michele, I didn't know you were going for surgery. Hope all is well with you, good luck!! awesome vibes!! Angela.
  11. I am still learning on this system, we have test and development 'regions', each pointing to some libraries (ie, batcht points to test libraries, batchp points to production libraries). How do I look at these regions to see what libraries to see what libraries are being used? or, how about the question, objects are to libraries, as libraries are to what? Thanks for any help. I always feel like a real ass when it comes down to doing anything out of day-2-day on this system. Angela.
  12. Well, um, for me it'll probly be a screwed up landing. but, maybe not:) I wanted to hop n pop from alti, but they told me i'm not experienced enough:( I suppose maybe a combination of cloudiness and air traffic, then uppers being a bit strong, probably had something to do with it. thx, I will try after a few more jumps on the 150sf. Angela.
  13. Wow, glad to hear you walked away from it! Last weekend someone got in a minor accident and walked away from it. I noted the deployed airbags and the smoke/dust that came from them and wondered about that being safe. I mean, what if you were unconscious for a min or two, all that smoke entraped in with you couldn't be a good thing. Did you experience that? Get rest after your adrenaline wears thin, you'll be needing it. Angela.
  14. woohoo! Congrads!! :) Angela.
  15. I lie on my back, usually outstrectched, so i'm an "unassuming, good listener" :) Angela.
  16. Wow, thats sad:( Sorry, Denise, and all who knew and loved Tommy. I always see denise wearing Badfish shirts, but never knew what it was other than in a Sublime song. Really sorry you lost a friend. Eternal blue ones to Tommy, my condolences to those who are now mourning his passing. Angela.
  17. Thanks, everyone! I will be looking for used gear and if nothing I want comes along in the next month, new gear it'll be. I can't wait forever! :p Angela.
  18. Lisa, i'm 5'4", ~120lbs. I don't really know what will be the best container for me cuz i've not tried many on. I tried on a tiny Javelin, tho, and it felt really sweet (of course, it also held a 96sf main, lol!) Unstable, yeah, maybe you're right about buying used. I'm still considering it, i'm not set on buying new, it just sounds nice:) I could buy a used container, and maybe even a used main & reserve and voila, a complete rig within the next month! :D Angela.
  19. Oops, um, I meant 1.17 : 1 lol! Wendy, I hear what you're saying, but I already feel like the 150 is gonna be too slow to keep for long. But, of course, I want to fly it for a while, anyhow... I know i'll want a 135 b4 long, tho. You don't think it is more reasonable in this case to buy for the 135, and put the 150 in it until i'm ready to downsize, which i'm figuring, won't be long? thx! Angela.
  20. Cool, i'll do that! I can't jump yet, tho, cuz I don't have gear and it's really expensive to rent there (and the smallest rental they have a 170sf and the rig is NOT freefly friendly). I borrowed a rig, but i'd have to borrow/rent a main for it (with risers)... Do you guys demo canopies? Soon, tho,... verrrry verrrry soon, i'll have my own gear, and i'd LOVE to make a jump with you! Angela.
  21. omg, now I MUST have a citicard with freefliers on it!! Angela.
  22. HA!! That is TOO funny!! Good job on the cover up! :) angela.
  23. lol!! Um, ok... lets go with seafood.. Who wants clams? Oysters? yummy. angela.
