  1. SAWEEETTT!! I personally witnessed that landing and it ROCKED! Perfectly soft stand up landing, looked like a pro out there, girl! Congrads to ya, I expect my beer next Saturday j/k lol!! :D Congrads on passing AFF, too! This has been a weekend full of acomplishments for you, we're all very proud:) U definitely have to work on that license now, we gotta make a jump together soon! Angela.
  2. I have jumped the Spectre 170 (4 jumps), Sabre 190 (student status), Sabre 150 (4 jumps), and Sabre II 150 (~16 jumps). I like the Sabre II the best of these canopies. I feel that I would have the same opinion even if i'd demoed the Spectre 150. The Spectre seems the most docile canopy and if that is what you're looking for, you'd probably appreciate that one the most. The original Sabre does not have a plane out like the Sabre II, it seems to be an almost fluent flare technique needed, as compare to landing the Sabre II which is a flare to plane out (sweet spot), hold down, finish once you slow down/finish 'swoop'. As a personal preference, I would choose the Sabre II anyday over the others. It is, for lack of a better word, a little 'scarier' than the other two which are very docile and don't seem to zoom at the ground as much. I'm not a fan of docile. fwiw, i'm very interested in swooping one day. jmo, note that these are the only canopies i've jumped, and i'm new to the sport as well. Best thing is to try them all out in the same size, and see what you feel comfortable with. Angela.
  3. Ok. I'll change it from "what makes you worth meeting" to "what makes you worth keeping". Guys see a honey and want to talk. Hormones. Gals see a nice bod or nice clothes (cash). Past that, what is it that keeps you seeing them (other than the big O). Women want a man to appreciate "them". So what is there in "them" that men want? Tell me about you. There is a lot of pretty girls, what is the special part about the you inside? Is this the dating game, or something? haha. Seriously, maybe i'm missing something, but unless someone is applying for a date with you, why is it that they should have to explain the reason they feel they are special? Angela.
  4. I read a lot of this thread, but it is a bit long. So, just to add a few things: * Think BEFORE you speak/act. I know, foreign concept to some, but it is very very important! It's very sad, but the most remembered words and actions are sometimes the worst ones. Every time you fight, things come rushing back. Not good. * Compliment one another. Personally, I need to hear them. I know it sounds to be insecure, but, well, it is just nice to hear compliments. Doesn't have to be about looks, can be anything... funny, cute, nice sit fly. :p * Cool cars really don't matter. I suppose I can't speak for everyone, but seriously, I have never once dated a guy because he had a cool car. Not that I don't like cars, but it just isn't a selling point. She'll like you or she wont, your car isn't going to make a bit of difference. Something I always look for in a partner is openmindedness. The times i've neglected to stick to this, i've realized very soon why it is so important (to me). I have no tips that will get you in a good relationship, but these are some things that come to mind as important to me. In addition to many that have already been stated, such as honesty! Angela.
  5. Don't feel so bad, Lisa. My boss gave me a whole bunch of work yesterday. I swear, the 20 minutes I normally spend doing my job turned into almost an hour!! It's a good thing I had that other 7 hours to wind down lol!! Angela.
  6. I suck at packing, too! haha. I'm still trying, but I paid packers the other day when I took the canopy class, and boy was it nice. Go up, come down, manifest, go up, come down, manifest. .. No 25 minute blood boiling pack jobs in between! I felt so spoiled! Alas, 4 pack jobs is a jump ticket, actually, at my dz, 3 pack jobs is almost a ticket! So, i'll just sweat a bit and have an extra jump at the end of the day:) Angela.
  7. Prescription did not change last year, but had changed the previous years. I believe i'm due back in January, I suppose i'll ask then if the optometrist thinks i'm a candidate. I'm farsighted, but I wear contacts for distance and glasses over them for reading. Thanks. Angela.
  8. Man, this really makes me want to get the procedure done, i'm sick of contacts! I could probably get financing on it. Did you all finance, or pay up front? What kind of research was involved in choosing a surgeon. Sorry to butt in, hope you don't mind. :) angela.
  9. Does he come with gear? hehe. (mmm, tie hm up and jump his gear j/k) Angela.
  10. Lake Wales, eh? Do they rent/demo canopies there? I don't have a main yet and am still in demo process. I will probably get up with Kolla next week to do another demo. But, for this wknd, I do not have a canopy and can rent one at z-hills. If you know if they demo there, let me know. :) Angela.
  11. ewww. Hairy butts must be WAXED!! Angela
  12. Cool, i'll be there:) I'm sure Denise will introduce us. I'd love to do some fun jumps with you! :) Angela.
  13. I'm headed to z-hills on Saturday, wanna make some jumps. Does anyone want to make some freefly jumps or track dives? I need to work on tracking flatter, and i'd love to make do some sit flys with someone, too:o) So, what's the deal this wknd? Worth staying the day or? thx! :) Angela.
  14. Hey, cool pix! I can't see the vid on my computer, but i'm sure it rocks, too:) I'm just learning sit fly right now. It is major fun. I really want to learn head down, but i'm told I need to work on up down fwd bkwd, and getting into and out of sit very easily first. I am working on standing up right now and am spinning a little. Anyhow, have a blast with your freeflying, I can't wait 'til I can fly sit, stand and head down and do cartwheels n stuff like the pros, this is great! Angela.
  15. Congrads!! Just outta curiousity, what size are you looking for? I mean, why would you want a spectre 210, but not the sabre 210, but rather the 190? Or, vice versa.? Awesome for ordering your rig, you must be mad excited!! :D Angela.
  16. Not me! lol! I think a SUNSET beach jump would be more in order:) That way I could have a beer while I watch. No beer in the a.m. else won't be able to jump latr. Angela.
  17. Pay off my credit card debt. With the remaining 500$, i'd pay off my overdraft. Damn, i'm broke, lol! The only reason i'd do this is because that is the perfect sum of $$ to leave me f&c. If the question were to be, what would I do with 3000$, i'd pay off one credt card, my overdraft, and buy some gear goodies and jump tickets, lol! Angela.
  18. The canopy class with Scott Miller is great. I just took it this past Sunday. Cool pic. :) I don't know how you flare, but if you plane out by flaring to the 'sweet spot', then bleed a little speed off, when you slow down you'll still have the extra flare to plop you down nice n soft when your speed runs out. I haven't jumped a 135 canopy yet, but i'm sure it's the same idea. I just started, too. I am just becoming more comfortable with the idea planing out a little lower, rather than 5 feet up. Hopefully I can transfer this to actual practice soon:) Not that I would try it yet, but to go faster I think you can make a front riser dive on final and let it up and plane out the same way you normally would. I really don't know, tho, and, like I said, i'm not willing to try this down low yet, you can always ask one of the cool canopy guys:) Although, with your jump #s, they probably won't be too keen on giving you swoop advice, haha. Just wanted to chime in about the class, it really is a good class if you can take it, it's worth it:) Really gives you the knowledge to better yourself through actual practice. Angela.
  19. Well, I had to vote rig since even though I technically first purchased goggles, I still purchase them all the time and lose them, so they don't count. :p My next purchase will be a helmet & audible . Angela.
  20. Awe, that's sweet:) Congrads on your decision to skydive! Listen well, be careful and have a blast! There is nothing more fun in the world, imo! Welcome to the family:) Angela.
  21. Thanks a bunch! I'll probably wash and scotchgard it, then. I'd love to get the webbing replaced, but it isn't really all that practical for me right now. I am just starting out, and the attraction to this rig had a lot to do with the price, although I do love the purple! I still have no main, helmet, et, et, etc. Thanks again for your help. Angela.
  22. I always brush up right before a test. If I don't, sometimes i'll get in there thinking I know what i'm doing, and then draw a blank. Doesn't matter if i've studied for hours the night b4, I always spend at least a half hour reading through and doing a few problems. Especially math related stuff. Obviously from the polls, tho, not everyone finds it necessary. If you're comfortable, you will probably be fine:) Angela.
  23. Another thought. How about if I wash it, can I scotchgard it or do anything to protect the white from getting so dirty? Thx. Angela.
  24. Ok. Suppose i'll just try keeping it clean best I can. I'll probably clean it in a few weeks, the white is not gonna be around long. I suppose I could biff in a few times and then it'd be green. lol! j/k thx. Angela.
  25. I bought a rig which is purple. Unfortunately, parts of the harness, and the leg straps & chest strap are white (or at least should be:p ). Is there any way to dye them, even a light color, without comprimising the strength of the fabric? The rig is parapak, I assume the leg/chest straps are the same material on all rigs. Thanks. Angela.
