  1. Special aircraft or balloon would be appealing. LO is also nice. Entertainment/food/beer/party is definitely a big plus! Jump ticket specials are last on the list, but if i'm still on the fence, that'd probably make it a must go if w/in driving distance (ie, deland). Place to tent or cheap accomodations is also a must. Angela.
  2. Food stains and bodily oils over a blue background. Angela.
  3. Well, what i've got now are the SOSpenders, which is a CO2 inflatable worn in a pouch around your waist. I think i'll have to tape it a bit for freeflying (pouch closure is velcro), and it is a little bulky for my liking, but we're down to the last minute and didn't find anything better so I guess we're going to use these. Thanks everyone. Angela.
  4. I really don't think that is the case. I think that certain people tend to be more conservative, some have a hard time with the ground coming up at them and freak out a little. This includes both men and women and I think it is incorrect to say that is is a girly thing. I am a woman, and I had no problem with speed and still don't. In fact, if I had to choose only one part of the skydive for the rest of my life it would be landings, not freefall. I just want to make sure women don't read this and think that they have problems because they are women, I think that is completely incorrect. Many students have a rough time, all makes and models
  5. Swooping... 80 jumps, Stiletto 150 loaded at 1:1. Swooping smart ... 100+ jumps after some guidance from the best. Swooping well, accurately, more consistantly... i'm just starting that, about 200 jumps from when I started "swooping" and a good amt of canopy training later. Angela.
  6. Wow, um, first load. I dunno, that sounds early. We'll be there, but i'm not certain we'll make first load ooo... i'm excited to do beach jumps! -A
  7. :( Your mother will be in my thoughts, too. I am so sorry, cancer is so sad. I hope she makes it through. Stay strong with her. Much love and hugs. Angela
  8. Good point. But thrown that PC like it's a live grenade, and clear your burbble. A PC in tow is not that fun Maybe I don't have a big burble... never had a problem. -A
  9. Man, we'd still be in the age of slavery if it were up to you, eh? Things change, slavery was accepted practice, blacks were the servents of white people, shit, why change anything at all. I guess I shouldn't be allowed to work or go to school, either, right? Change is not a bad thing, people. Don't believe the republicans and purists who say it is! Our constitution has been amended, nothing stays the same, growth and change go hand in hand. Angela.
  10. Because the gay men don't have wings, right? Seriously, reread what you wrote and try to make sense of it. If you are going with the idea that it is "against the laws of nature", then you are sadly mistaken because marriage is not natural and does not go hand in hand with humanity. In fact, isn't it nature that men are not monogamous? So, in that respect, marriage already goes against nature. -A
  11. Man, i'm excited!! I love the skyvan!! -A
  12. I try to take an extra moment after reaching and grabbing my handle to just soak it in, feel calm and stable... then I smoothly (not quickly) pull. I find that I get the nicest openings when I just remain calm and aware, using only nice smooth movements, and taking the extra moment after reaching my handle to just feel the stability. Other times, I just whip around, pull and toss, then I deal with the opening... it's obvious which is the better situation. Take an extra moment. At 5500 feet you are not 1 second from death. You have time to get stable, slowly reach, pause and then slowly extract. Discuss it with your instructor, tell them your plan on feeling the stability, see what they say. -A
  13. Well, I certainly wouldn't want you to win, but maybe I should have phrased that differently. Problem is that Rep & Dem are tainted, they represent someone's $$ somewhere (big business, oil co, etc). No other party even has a chance because the elections are so bought. Most american's don't hear anything about the other candidates whatsoever. And, additionally, it is ridiculous that a woman or a person of non-anglo background wouldn't have a chance, EVEN IF they were a Dem or Rep. In my eyes, there is just no point. One bought asshole or another, the difference isn't signifigant. -A
  14. Yes, because i'm certain you would have died a horrific death had Kerry taken office rather than Bush. You people need to get over it. Neither will make any signifigant difference, one asshole over another. Nobody worth a damn can be elected because you have to be white, male, and be a Dem or Rep in order to be elected. I think Sharpton said it best last night, though, when he said that this would be the first time Bush actually won, lol! -A
  15. OK. Glad you backed up your recommendation with good reasons and stuff. I ordered a pullout, i'll let you know how I like it -A
  16. I'm sorry:( It's a shame, but at least take into account who is telling you it's not good enough... who the hell needs the approval of those with so much hatred for those in love? I hope it comes together for you later on, but for now, you ARE married. You committed to one another, and that is what counts. Fuck the eyes of The State, or Bush, or whatever! You should go out and celebrate what an awesome thing you have with each other, regardless of what some ignorant pompous fools say! So, having missed this thread earlier this year, I want to say CONGRADULATIONS! For making that committment to one another, for finding that special someone who you want to spend forever with. I wish you both the best! Angela.
  17. hahahah i voted!! i woulda voted for alana but she wasnt on the ballot That's a shame. She would've probably been the best candidate. -A
  18. If they are not comfortable, they don't fit right. If you are not far from the mfg, just ride over and try them on for them. Mine didn't fit right the first time, either. Angela.
  19. or... get this... Don't vote, and live. Just throwing other options out there
  20. Right on! I have focused a major part of my time on canopy control. Sometimes I get kinda down about not being able to fly headdown, but then I think of how much fun I have with my canopy, and how much knowledge I have gained from your instruction and my continued attempt to make good use of it, and that makes me feel good! Maybe more people should focus on canopy flight and landings before freefall... shit happens and it sure is nice to have the knowledge to avoid danger. If you know how to save your life with your canopy in different situations, you'll live to learn headdown Angela.
  21. They don't seem to make them anymore I want something small for this. I ordered something on ebay, but they are entirely too large. *sigh* Angela.
  22. Hi, Mike. I will speak to them. I think they will have the proposal worked up next week. I told them to get back to me when they've got the details, and I expressed my concerns to my immediate boss, although I believe I may have to repeat them to his boss. Maybe we can get this to work out for everyone. Must be nice;) People to fill my position are probably easy to come by. If they don't know mainframes, it's easy to learn. Thanks all! Angela.
  23. Why? You're not working for them, you're no longer providing any value to them, why should they continue to pay a salary and get nothing in return? - Jim Dude, honestly, i'm not going to sit here and amuse you by arguing the point. It doesn't matter what I say, we're on different sides with this one. For the record, though, I think that most retired people would disagree that just because you no longer provide a service, you shouldn't be paid. Nighty night. -A
