  1. Thank you, Wendy! Man, sounds like we really missed a party. We left at around 9:30... passed out from benedryl and beer I would love to see pix, tho! Angela.
  2. I love my suit. We were hoping to order my boyfriend one, too. The turnaround time is up there, though, now at about 4 months. Angela.
  3. You need to read a bit more carefully, Reginald. He has done 247 jumps in 5 years, and ... "Mar 2004 and have done 138 since with atleast 100 on my current canopy which I have had for just over six months. " He had done 100 jumps on his current canopy, and 140 jumps in 8 months. That's approx 18 jumps a month for 8 months, which is not really considered uncurrent. I have the ~ same amount of jumps as you do and I can understand your position that you have seen a lot of bad shit happen, but you have to know that things can be done properly. This guy is not uncurrent. He is asking advice on how to start swooping which is more than can be said for a lot of up and commers who go out and whip 270s at 50 jumps with zero for instruction. While I don't know if this guy will get hurt or not, at least he's asking advice. I think the best way to keep this person alive would be to give good advice on what he can do to start swooping (ie, get an accurate alti, pracitce turns up high to see how much altitude they lose, start high and work your way down, start with 45 degree, then 90, etc...). Because, lets be serious here, it sounds like he's not going to give up on this, people might as well do their best to instill the knowledge to make him safe(r). jmo. Angela
  4. Yeah, Coming up on South Bay from either direction on 27 you will get lotsa cops. Looks like you've already given her the low-down on that;) That's what makes it about the same amt of time from my place to Sebastian or Clewiston. Going through South Bay and Clewiston you have to slow down and drive the loooow speed limit... grrr! -A
  5. Well, you can always put mini-risers on a rig setup for large rings, but you can't do the opposite. So all in all its not a bad choice really.
  6. Clewiston flys a caravan. I believe Sebastian will have an Otter and a Skyvan starting this weekend:D The people in both places are really nice. Angela.
  7. When will you be here? I live in Ft. Laud. Clewiston is the closest mile-wise, but it takes about the same amt of time to get to Sebastian and you're guaranteed a full day of jumping (I have never done a sunset jump at Clewiston, it starts and ends early there). If you're going to be out on a weekend let me know, i'll do a couple of jumps with ya:) There are lots of places that'll take you scuba or snorkeling, i'm sure you'll find stuff to do:) -A
  8. I suppose it depends, but generally speaking.... I won't date a guy who's car/truck/boat/stereo is the most important thing in his life. It's one thing if someone likes nice things and spends some time on a hobby or such. But, when guy washes his car every other day, or spends an extreme majority of his time beefing up a vehicle, it's just too much. -A
  9. Which many times go hand in hand. I would not buy a rig with the large rings, personally, but for larger jumpers I hear they are a good idea. I pull my slider down and it sounds like it'd be a project with the larger webbing on the risers. I have heard some people say that the backpad doesn't make a difference, others argue that it does. I think it'd be nice to really try both before dishing out the $$, but if it truly is more comfy, i'd definitely get it! I also opted for SS on my new rig. Although my other non-stainless rig doesn't have any problem, I have seen some pix that made me choose ss... better safe than sorry on a new rig. Angela.
  10. If it must be between the three choices (unlike some who made their own) : The old lady Because she is not doing well and can't be left in the storm. While there is something to be said for loyalty, the friend will surely survive to await the bus, it isn't a life or death situation and i'm sure they'd understand. And, why would the perfect partner want you if you are so selfish that you would ditch and old lady in need and a loyal friend for them? -A

Furthermore, with statements like these, most people would tend to think you're playing for the other team. (at least that's what i'm getting). jmo. -A edit to add : Not that there's anything wrong with that
  12. "anyway, so it made me curious, what would you do fro a jump ticket? " I would... dun dun dun... go to work Guess I don't know what it's like to be hurtin that bad for a jump due to financial stress (yet!). I'll be quitting my job sometime next year to attend school fulltime, so we'll see what happens then... although I still don't think i'd run around naked for one. -A
  13. Ditto that! And, i'm not sure my mother even realizes how bad this stuff is now, even after I bug and bug her about it. My niece was visiting and one day I saw her with a beanie baby from McDonalds... two days later, she had like 6 of them. This poor child, how many of these unhealthy meals she had to eat. I said something about it in front of the family and my aunt remarked that as a child i'd eaten the same thing and I was fine... I am glad I eventually smartened up. As a kid, you couldn't force feed me most vegetables, and what veggies we did eat were soggy, overcooked, sodium soaked canned ones. A typical week's food would incorporate McDonalds (if we were good!), Pizza Hut, Hamburger Helper, Hot Dogs & Mac n cheese, Chef Boyardee.... Dough boys for breakfast if we were good (frozen dough, thawed, deep fried, and topped with butter and syrup).. etc. I knew no better, this was what we ate. It is sad that kids have to grow up on this nutrition deficient, fat/sodium/preservative filled crap because parents don't know or care to do better for them. But, now and then, I did get a sugar filled flinstones vitamin Ok, done ranting. -A
  14. ECH! Me, too, that burger sounds nasty. But, I can't say that I wouldn't venture to make my own burger with fresh ingredients that would probably have around 40 grams of fat in it or i'd be lying. I do my shopping at Wholefoods, but I am not on a diet. I simply don't like to have my food loaded with trans fat, sodium and preservatives. I do love me some fresh heavy cream alfredo sauce, but I would venture a guess that one bowl of my homemade alfredo nears 25 grams of fat. This is off topic, though. I have definitely got to see the movie. I don't eat a lot of fast food because I know it is bad and furthermore it generally tastes bad, too... but it's good to have the info. -A
  15. OMG, that has TWO days worth of fat in it! I eat some fattening stuff, but 2/3lb of burger combined with 3 pieces of cheese and mayo sounds a bit extreme. But, 1/2 lb burger with 1 cheese and mayo, that's doable;) -A
  16. I'm not sure where I read it, but I did read someone suggest that having boots that prevent ankle injury might just increase the risk of other leg injuries. It seems logical to me, if there is force to be absorbed, and your ankles don't absorb it... what will? (maybe your tib/fib higher up, or worse, your knees??) Just a thought. It is not difficult to hurt yourself in this sport, so if you have other obligations that prevent a 2-5 week walking layoff then you might want to think about what would happen if you did get hurt. -A
  17. Holy crap you can arch! Nice rig, too! --- Yeah, Amazon, I love Mel's rig, too!! I wish I were so brave. I ordered mine with white on it, but not as much... incentive not to slide 'em in -A
  18. haha .. hahahah ... hahahahaha !! -A
  19. The Lotus Max is also the same class as the Sabre II, they can be found used sometimes, too:) The Safire II is also supposed to be a good canopy. I have not tried either of these, though. -A
  20. Cool pic!! Good read, too. Looks like a lot of fun (which is why I refuse to try it until I have lotsa $$ to spend;)) -A
  21. gee, thanks;) Seriously, I understand that everyone will have a different opinion. I just thought i'd add mine. I would never buy a spectre because I don't like it's flight characteristics. There are plenty of people who do and plenty who don't and, obviously, I speak only for myself. That's great that you like them, though. Obviously some people do or they wouldn't sell And, personally, I don't like terribly snively openings, either. I much prefer my Samurai which opens in ~500 feet than my old Stiletto which took 1000 feet. So, it's all in what you're looking for. -A
