The new PAC 750XL will be assembled in Canada in 2005.
pccoder replied to ypelchat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thanks everyone. All that you have said makes good sense. Hopefully we'll see more of these soon. I especially like the half load means the DZ still makes money. We don't ever get the plane off the ground unless we have a specific number of jumpers, so that is great news. PcCoder.net -

We've got a King Air at our DZ which is about 7-8 minutes to jump run. I haven't really calculated the time it takes for the plane to get back down, but I am thinking it has got to be around the same. Is it that a King Air costs more? I mean is the benefit of this new plane that it costs less? PcCoder.net -

is this plane truely providing what it promises? I mean the 16 minutes turn around from takeoff to touchdown? PcCoder.net -
That makes sense. Sounds like you just had a really shitty experience on a tandem jump. Sorry again to hear about it. Also, very sorry to hear that you've been on the sidelines wanting to be jumping and not being able. I don't even want to imagine how that feels. PcCoder.net

Additionally, something to consider is that it doesn't cost much at all to have this done to your canopy. If your company doesn't mind the measly $1000 to $2000 extra on a canopy..hell that's nothing for advertising. It's probably not a bad idea, even if they don't really get much in return. I say go for it. PcCoder.net

Sorry to hear that. On a different note, if you haven't been jumping since 20 years ago it is misleading for your profile to say "21 years in sport" PcCoder.net

ok, that is flat out nasty PcCoder.net

Rest and Exercise. I think many muscle related pains can be related to over working muscles which aren't built up enough. The repetitve actions of packing are probably just too much work on muscles which are not strong enough to handle it over long periods of time. Maybe some exercises to build up your arms, forarms, etc. would help matters. PcCoder.net

while you're at it, why not get a tatoo of an airbag for everytime one of those has saved you in a car accident? nah, just couldn't resist. it does sound like a cool idea. and the idea of chaining them all up..I like that too PcCoder.net

As it should be. I'm sure plenty of folks say they are in the sport longer than they actually are "in" the sport. PcCoder.net

What did you write about your first jump?
pccoder replied to FlyinNover's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hee hee, me too PcCoder.net -
I totally agree here. Just focus on some solo jumps. Don't add any complexity to the jumps by inviting others along with you. Take your time, focus on the basics. I think that will help with the anxiety as well. PcCoder.net

I agree. I was certainly quite a bit nervous about my first hop n pop. PcCoder.net

good job telling him. probably shouldn've mentioned it immediately, but still you didn't let him leave the plane without it fixed. i agree we should be on the lookout, it's just common courtesy and we should certainly be extending it to our fellow jumpers as we hope they would for us. PcCoder.net

Yes, pay the packer. Two, check your own shit!! Three, Starting a fight is real mature. Not. If we are going to get into fist fights, we don't belong on the DZ. PcCoder.net

I know. It just comes down to finances. I chose what I did when I did. However, I did pay off over $20,000 of debt last year and now owe nothing. No credit cards, no car payment, nothing. And I am paying cash for my gear which arrives next week. It's just a matter of personal choice. PcCoder.net

I agree. I was simply expressing my opinion based on my experiences. PcCoder.net

have it repacked. better safe than sorry PcCoder.net

I haven't been in this sport long enough to understand how often this should be done. I think about things such as moisture or length of time that a reserve has been in the bag and how it could potentially affect the opening and I am not sure there is any really perfect answer to this question. It probably really comes down to a case by case basis; which is probably why there is a standard we all follow which more or less covers everyone. PcCoder.net

I like to throw at 4k. I feel it gives me plenty of time to initiate emergency procedures if need be and still be high enough to not try to look like a superstar being open under my inflated reserve 100 feet off the ground (saw this crazy shiat in a video) PcCoder.net

thanks, that is useful information PcCoder.net

mjosparky - actually I do have other things to do with my time. skydiving is my hobby. not my life ron - i never said i was too good to learn anything. by the way, thanks for giving ME credit for being the reason you started this thread. Actually, I can't really even remember why I wrote what I did in my original post. I think I was reading some obvious completely asinine mistakes people were making and hastly posted. I suppose I should have read and thought a little more before posting my response. So, sorry about that. Everyone be sure to read this entire post and try not to relive and of the mistakes others have made. PcCoder.net

You have the ultimate bonus of being able to go to a local wind tunnel. This is the greatest learning tool available to a jumper. Utilitze this as much as you can. As expensive as the tunnel is, it's still cheaper than the jump. Only you don't get to practice your canopy skills. Anways, do as much tunnel time as you want, let them know you are an AFF student and they'll be more than happy to help you with forward movement, turns, practice ripcord pulls, etc. I did this and without looking back at my receipts I think I have done just as much tunnel time as real freefall time and it's proven invaluable. Fellow jumpers are impressed when you are learning skills so quickly and of course I have to explain it's not that, but the tunnel time which has made it all possible. PcCoder.net

I hear ya. Actually, when I couldn't find it I was getting nervous about having to cough up the cost myself. Then once I got on the ground I discovered from everyone that I wasn't responsible, but still felt a bit guilty (just my personality I guess). The gear at this dropzone (Skydive Space Center) is always in top shape and with the number of jumps I have paid rentals on I have already paid over $2500 towards rental gear anyway. At their $800-900 actual cost direct from the manufacture (what they told me), I assure you they still did well on this transaction.

If I am wrong forgive me, but your statement carried with it a tone of "if you don't know this for sure, don't say it" and this forum is inundated with people like that making it not so fun to post without fear of being hastled. I was probably wrong, my bad. PcCoder.net
