By what reference do you initiate your approach?
Maxim replied to LearningTOfly's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I use my alti to initiate my turn. from then on in its all ground visuals. Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it. -
I agree, when i was doing my AFF thats the only thing i had trouble with. i would always tumble out the door then get stable with in seconds just was the initial prop blast that got me. Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

This was a cool little project of Al's. Me and livia went down to sydney as livia was doing the mountain scene where she eats the bananna and does a gainer. on arrival to sydney Al was in hospital with a dislocated shoulder. after riding a motorbike off a cliff he thought the forward speed would be enough to deploy canopy. but a sports bike really didnt launch as much as he had hoped and he ended up impacting the water with just a pilot chute dragging behind him. dont ski'ers jump off 60feet cliffs without parachutes. what do you call something that you wouldnt even need the parachute to survive the jump =) Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

done 120feet into water. with clapped out cruislights and meators. those canopys didnt give much of a canopy ride though. just enough time for a bit of imput on the rears for touchdown. salt water is evil =) Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

Hey man, Good on ya for surviving. after recently having a cliffstrike and holding on to the wall for 6 hours on a 45 degree slopped ledge i know how hard and how long 6 hours can be. When i get the net back at home i will also post an incident report and put some video up. also your comments about blending into the cliff face. the rescue chopper had a hard time finding me also. even pictures later that i saw i have trouble finding me on them. Yeah i had my camera helmet on for the jump in question. got the jump, opening, impact. and a few of my own update reports while on the wall.. first sight of the helecopter, the helecopter doing about 10 laps around me, landing, flying around more, landing, flying, landing, flying, landing, then flying away for good. then the abseilers coming down and getting me all on footage. they actually have a charge they put on base jumpers but thats usally off buildings and stuff.. in queensland national parks it is not illegal yet. they are talking about writing it into the laws or something. but at the moment it is still a grey area and allowed Life is Great. yeah iam totally fine not even a scratch which is quite amazing. was just a shit happens 180. it did treat me well ray never had anything over 45 degree offheading on it till then ray =). the mojo is now retired. =) will go back next weekend and rescue the canopy but the UV rays would have screwed it by then. gonna have to buy a new canopy for my container though now. G'day from the Picton wingsuit boogie, Australia
Maxim replied to unclecharlie95's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Hey man, Nice to meet you and cheers for all the demo's. i gotta order a tracking suit soon so i can get my 2min's! didnt end up getting enough time to use it again after the 1min40 flight. See you in europe later in the year =) Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it. -
The way i was taught. is to run my hand up my bridle over my mesh and up till i hit where the mesh joins to the F111 or ZP. trapping the air being able to fill into the ZP. from then on i work backwards Sfolding the mesh then the bridle in my hand till i get the right lenth.. making sure the bridle comes out the top on my hand between the thumb and index finger. the ZP material mushrooms over my hand. for low delays i have been told to not trap the ZP as much so the pilot chute starts filling up with air earlier and for deeper delays trap it completely so it cant fill with air till you pitch. How does this way sound to you tom? Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

What's new with the Sony DCR-PC1000 (vs. the PC-350)
Maxim replied to SudsyFist's topic in Photography and Video
Nah not zooming in at all as its usally still in my camera helmet. I just played around with it a bit. the setting i normally have it on is 0.1m with the little hand with the F inside it. I played around with zooming it. at about 3/4 zoom it goes instantly blurry i also noticed at this point in zoom the hand with the F in it. turns into a little black body. I also tried zooming with auto focus on and it also goes blurry instantly at about 3/4 zoomed in. Infinity is blurry no matter what. i just wind back to manual dial till somewhere in the 0.1m range and it goes clear. yet people starting swoops high are outta focus for the start of it. Iam sure an easy fix to this would be take the lens off for filming landings but i dont always have time. why do you think i only get about 3/4 of my zoom range with the .5 lens on? Life is Great. What's new with the Sony DCR-PC1000 (vs. the PC-350)
Maxim replied to SudsyFist's topic in Photography and Video
Yeah i found the same situation.. I have the PC1000 with a cookie .5 lens and infinity setting is blurry so i manualy played around with my focas till i found a setting that was crisp at the distance i was normally filming. only thing i have found with it.. when i film swoopers landing they are out of focus when they start their 270's then come into focus during the dive which kinda sucks. Everyone told me to use infinity but it just didnt seem to work for me. Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it. -
I always have a pull up cord tying my packing clamps togeather so if i have my clamps i have my pull up cord. also have another pull up cord tied to my rapidlink spanner. which is in my stashbag. but iam sure i will come across a day when i dont have one. i have used shoe laces several times on my skydiving rig =) Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

I also have all 4 finger thru the toggles.. and just keep them thru the toggle when i pull the dive loops Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

go with the PC1000 i got one and loving it.. recording in wide screen is cool also. dont know if the pc350 can do that. Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.

i dont think it would be nearly as far drop down.. on a base jump they are working with dead air.. out of a plane your got air to work with straight away. havent you ever seen the video's where the wingsuiters use the propblast and get above the plane. Life is Great. Even Greater what we do with it.
