  1. haha.. Yeah I was sitting right there on the matt when you took this picture Clicky Kate is very good lookin... I didn't realize you were ccowden from here or would have introduced myself... Also, thanks for packin for me sunny.. Oh yeah and the Furies... I really don't need to say more than has been said... First off good looking, second off have you seen the scores from the meets held last weekend? Of all the NSL regions that have turned in scores as of now they are top in A class. They even beat my team (One Fifty One) who is sitting 4th for last weekend.
  2. Haha... that was kinda my thought too.. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka
  3. I've had no troubles filiming 4 way or tandems from it. Much like a Caravan.... That PAC I jumped at Rantoul had a step similar to the Caravan we had last year (big enough for two people, a ways back from the door). The PAC we have at Sky Knights this year has a tiny little step immediately aft of the door. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but for now it's a world of difference. The plane owner (Not us) removed the large step because people were floating 2-3 people on it. It was to far back and causing flight problems on jump run. I hate the camera step on the PAC right now. Its doable but really it sucks bad. Totally hosing everyone with a 3" step because people aren't smart enough to know putting 3 ppl behind the door is bad sucks. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 4. Have jumped rigs w/o one. Have jumped with it turned off for various reasons. Will jump again if the situation presents itself. Don't do things that put you in unsafe situations. I have one because it minimizes risk when things do go wrong but I try to keep myself out of them places to begin with. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 5. As MarkM said you need to configure everything to go through your ISPs SMTP server or you are going to end up with a lot of people not getting the e-mails. Pretty much anyone running any spam blocking blocks e-mail from dynamic IP addresses that are given to home internet connections. Whichever one you do choose you need to make sure it has the ability to relay through the ISP. That will overcome the dead-end email problem of dynamic IPs. I run linux so I have sendmail, but there are some decent windows ones that are free or don't cause much at all. I'll ask a buddy what he is using, I know he has one. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 6. It seems that the people this is addressed at are the less experienced people who probally can't manage to slide out a landing because they haven't learned that skill yet. - You don't have to make it back. If you don't try to make it back and land off you still have your legs to walk back to the DZ. - You shouldn't turn low, but know how and when to flat turn so that you can save yourself if you put yourself in a bad situation. - Know where you are going to land by 1000 feet. Don't just hope your going to make it somewhere. Know that you will make it. If you aren't sure your going to make it... pick somewhere you know you can. Refer to point 1. - Don't panic, turn low, and impact in a turn - Practice landing in differenent conditions in a controlled and safe manner with advice of your instructors That sum it up ok? ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 7. I don't see how that is possible. Wouldn't the wind have to be acting on the canopy differently at different parts to make it turn? I envision this: | ^ | | ^ | | ^ | | ^ | N | ^ | W+E | ^ | S | ^ | | ^ | | ^ | Canopy heading indicated by ^ | ^ | WIND --> Where the canopy is maintaining heading but crabbing across the landing area as the mass of air it is in drifts. In that case if you wanted to land due north with no drift to the east then you would have to have the canopy heading NW. If you are flying due north with a wind out of the west you should just crab to the east, but not actually change heading in that direction? Anyone clarify this? edit: You wouldn't have to maintain a turn (more toggle towards the NW) in the NW direction, just have the heading be NW as you come in on final. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 8. I think that it is one of the most retarded laws in existance. I "jaywalk" every morning walking between the parking structure and office. If a person is unable to determine if it is safe to cross the road they are either a child (ok fine) or belong in an institution. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 9. Most of them can, and will. You'll get more thourough briefs and debriefs if you can afford to hire them as coaches, as they will not have to spend your non flying time instructing for someone else, and they'll be free to do a lengthy debrief with you. That said, tunnel basics can be learned with just the instructors help if you're pretty aware of your body. Anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes seems to be about right, although then it is recomended that you work on both a sit and back fly progression. Going back and forth will help releive you when you get tired in one position, and give you the ability to be in better overall control. And you will get tired. I did an hour camp over 6 hours. By the last session I had the skills down to sitfly but I was too tired to use them. I noticed quite a difference in my in-air skills. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 10. There is a thread around here somewhere that tells the tale of someone who took a face plant. This person would have been ok. They were wearing a closing pin. It got lodged in their neck and required a trip to the hospital. I wear one, but I don't even put it on if I'm headed for the DZ. Everyone there knows I am a skydiver. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 11. I think one of the teammates has a conflict for the East Troy meet. We're still working out hitting a couple of MWSL meets this season. Our region (NPSL) only scheduled 4. sounds like a nice plane though Edit: Yeah, I know you have Eliana as the traveling coach that meet. Yep... its the MWSL meet to NOT miss... You should see our calander... this summer will be fun :) ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 12. We have had the PAC for a couple weekends (and are going to have one all summer) and with the weather starting to get nice we want to see what we can do and what people think of the plane. Goal is 30 or more loads on sunday, we want to find out how fast we can really fly it since claims have been made that we can hit almost 4 loads an hour. So come out and let us know. There is gonna be a deal that can get you cheap jumps, but I won't go into details to try and avoid this being an advertising post. If you want to know about that call the DZ. (800)382-4883 Mostly we want people to come out, jump and let us know what they think of our plane. 13. So we made 25 loads this weekend. Had some decent weather. Overall I like it. Maybe a little getting used to the benches but it should be fun. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 15. Its still a club. No new ownership. We are trying to have a better web presence and get more people coming out to skydive with us. I am looking forward to see what changes they did to the PAC. I have heard its a lot more comfortable inside than the one they had at WFFC. That makes me happy. PAC > KA ...can't stand the small door. No good for 4-way. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Swooping is taking one last poke at the bear before escaping it's cave - davelepka

  17. To call yourself an awesome or even good freeflier you should be able to belly fly too. If you can't you are not free to do as you wish you are limited, restricted even, by constraints that you alone impose upon yourself. Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong... ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 19. I would say that it has less to do with a lack of knowledge with your canopy than it does with a general lack of experience and skill. The canopy can swoop awesome with the right pilot at the controls. I am learning on a Saber170 and have had lots of fun with it. Some people recomended brian's book and I think that would help you out a lot. Take a canopy controll class next time one is offered. Play around up high out of traffic and you will find that you can learn a lot.

  21. If a WS landing attempt does happen, I doubt the jumper would exit with no rig, regardless of legality. The jumper would be a highly experienced WS jumper who has done all of his WS jumps wearing a suit and rig... to take the rig off would alter his performance from what he was used to and probably not be a good idea. Not to mention this leaves no room at all for possible wingsuit malfunction and/or inopertune conditions for the landing which may or may not become apparent after exit. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 23. You suck... Also: here is mine for work Edit to add: This picture was cool... end of a 4-way dive. Turned around to track away like a banshee (per normal) and had a camera guy damn near right infront of me so i pitched it over and went under him sorta to the side... ended up with this semi neat picture ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 24. Fast

    speeding ticket

You should just call a laywer and for a nominal fee they pick up the phone and call the person in charge of prosecuting the ticket who says they will lower it and does the paper work. Your laywer sends you the new ticket and you go pay it. Insurance goes up less because the ticket is lower and your out money but your record doesn't reflect as bad of a ticket. No idea what the laws are in your state regarding that. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. 25. I think that is a rather offensive way of characterizing the debate. Wanting some data before taking action is not a "me me me" response. How would you like it if the FDA took the approach to approving new drugs that no analysis or testing was necessary? "Common sense" has proven to be incorrect on countless occasions. The difference in that argument is that the FDA errs on the side of saftey. At least in most cases. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
