a bit harsh calling him an idiot......... does not make him an idiot coz he dont know what a parachute is - were you born with all your knoweldge about parachutes - or were you also born "an idiot"??

cars dont crash by themselves - the driver is always at fault! Parachutes dont fly themselves - human error is 100% of the problem - and no amount of tools or gadgets will stop this............ as 698 says "learn to fly you parachute" and you wont get hurt........ and this also means taking into account the environment you are flying in - is it higher then your used to? is there wind factors to think about? blah blah blah.........

I dont skydive much in the UK - and last year I had a friend over from Denmark and wanted to make some skydives. I took out a temp BPA membership for one month and the DZO/CCI had no problem with me doing this - as it says at the top of the form (or something similar) "..........or people wishing to join the BPA temporarly" – as I concluded that, and the manifest person concluded that this form and sort of membership included my wishes. I then received a letter from the BPA basically saying that I was not allowed in any way to have a temp membership. I wrote back and explained my situation and quoted the “clear” words on top of the form………… I received a letter back stating that this is not the case and that you are not allowed to “cherry pick” when you can be a member. To me this is wrong. Seeing that the BPA membership (which I have not been a member now for 2 years) is now £105 (or near) to be a member – then why shut out the many people that want to make a jump once or twice in this country but wont because they then have to pay £100+ to do this. What are others thoughts on this? (by the way I cant be arsed to write a more indepth reason of why I think this is wrong!) oh well!!

Job done!!! just some simple Vlookup and some simple VBA and all sorted!!! (but will admit that my VBA is not very workable on what I gave her - and will need more time to help in the long term!!) hope i helped though!!!!!

dude i have seen skydivers sell sub 100 canopies to people that should not be flying them - at least BASE jumpers (i believe) will not sell BASE kit to someone that "should not be flying one" its a shame as i think that some skydiving injuries could be stopped through this sort of selling and also the mindset that something is right for them and is clearly not............. Swooping on a sub100 when not ready is just as dangerous as BASE............ but does not have the same fear so more people do it.............

my point Tom with this post was I refused to sell my gear to someone who told me they were booked on a FJC and had a mentor. it turned out after I called some people and emailled some people that 1) he was not booked on an FJC 2) his "mentor" was someone that had done 5 PCA jumps a year ago and had not jumped since (plus additional info i got from someone else i am not willing to post public) I then saw the DZ BASE classified advert (who I now know who is selling this and will be sending emails to tomo) advertises that packing lessons if wanted......... to me this means that if you dont jump i will teach you to pack and you can buy it.......... maybe I am being tooooooooo uptight about this - but this is in the UK and I dont want to see people doing this incorrectly in this country..............

I don’t know maybe I am probably a little too over cautious and particular to whom I sell my kit to – just wondering what other peoples feelings are on selling second hand kit…… Do you check out peoples credentials first? Do you enquire about a jumper if you don’t know them? Would you sell to someone without jumps without being booked on a FJC? Would you check with a manufacturer about someone first if they had told you they attended a FJC? Im just interested in others approaches are and whether mine is way toooooooooooooo uptight!!! jesus dude! you sound very bitter!!! - has someone stuck you one?! i think generally BASE jumpers are more honest then skydivers when selling gear............ and more ethical......... (how many skydivers sell a small canopy to people that should not be on them???? never mind if they take off 200 jumps from the total!!!!! I need to sell my kit to pay for some new kit but refused to sell it to someone (for various reasons) in fact this post reminds me - maybe i should post my UK one here for opinion??!?!

Dude in my experience in trying to arrange a UK BASE jumpers meet – you will never please everyone, so what you do is pick a date, stick to it and if people really want to make it along then they will – those that don’t well they just don’t………….. they can come along next time……….. You wont get people to agree to a date – so make one and keep it fixed – if it really matters to people then they will make it…………………. Don’t be a cat herder…………….. its hard work and certainly a waste of time!!! Later

This was done sometime ago. ...........and for the speeds of wingsuits I beleive on testing one of the newer suits the vertical speed was got down to 18mph.

I think if you are jumping a bridge pillar and landing on the deck of a span this would be more an O……………. If you jump the pillar and open below the deck then it’s a span………… In the end I only catorgrise each jump that is obvious what it is – everything else is an “O” – in any case this is for my own personal records. In the end it’s a BASE jump……………….. have fun with it!!
