sometimes you need someone to help you make the commitment.............. sometimes you need someone to make you realise you want it so bad.................. dont be like all the others who say "I want to..........." ........... if you want it bad enough you will do anything to make it happen...... I have you Rim Licker to thank for getting my undecided arse up and actioning it!!! - not sure if you did it intentially, but you are the single person I thank for getting me to make it happen!!! oh apart from myself of course! ........... you did not end up with the £5000 ($7500) debt it landed me in!!!

No shit!!! when we did it we had to jump between the 20 minute security patrol................... it took time and effort to do this without being noticed and to get away with it.................. and our work paid off!
-
do a search on here and BLiNC as this has been discussed many times before.....................
-
your obviously not that bothered seeing as you are in the UK and I sent a PM that you did not respond to...................... good luck...............
-
from what I hear it was the TV station that stated he was the first and not Felix himself.......... things happen for ratings! ............ I was with some of the people that jumped this bridge (well the cranes) some time ago (august 2003)........... and since then lots of other UKers and French and belgium jumpers have done it. Wh distrust the media most of the time and then accept what they say other times? that makes no sense.............. We all know Felix has some dodgy coverage from jumps - but how much is him and how much is it the media reporting it? Michael PS) there are lots more great spans in france to jump than this one!!!

having recently been on the skydive part of this site more so than I would normally, I would have to say there seems to be a clique mentality here............... but then again I guess thats sort of similar to a DZ!! I am glad its noticed, as its actually unpleasant - and these people think they are "open minded"............. mmmmmm...... The more I read of you S, the more I am respecting you............ Thanks for your on going efforts..........
-

Just thought I would post something to discuss: BASE seems to be rather easily accessable. I beleive in the past year more and more people are getting into BASE (more experienced people may say this has been the case over the past few years) - I can only speak of the UK, but when speaking to new jumpers having taken a FJC and coming back wanting to jump, I find that sometimes the fundamental knowledge I would expect from someone starting to BASE jump is sadly lacking. I know that I have only been jumping for 2 years, but I also researched everything I could and spoke to experienced jumpers for 2 years before this time - so much so that on my FJC the technical subjects covered were just confirming what I had already learnt and was nothing new to me (unlike the two other people on my course). I also had spent the last 6 months of my weekend skydiving focusing on the CR canopy drills and doing hop n pops from 6k all geared toward my FJC (to much piss taking from people who did not know what I was doing it for) I had done this as I was told by people this is what should be expected before starting to jump, but it seems (from converstations and also some recent posting by new jumpers) that the basis of knowledge before starting to jump is lacking.......... I would be interested in what others think of this.......... certainly in the UK we are getting so many jumpers through, that we are being swamped. There are some nice objects in the UK for new jumpers - but generally we have some low and gnarly jumps that need special attention. Lack of preparation and knowledge will get you hurt on these............. Is BASE too easily accessable at this time? do people not have to work so hard to get jumping nowadays and is this a bad thing? just interested in thoughts and discussion............ Michael PS) and yeah I know - I got hurt!!!

Whislt I am recovering from injury, and spending lots of time alone and unable to do shit for myself, I have started taking St Johns Wort because of what I have heard / read about it. I would be interested in anyones experience with St johns Wort, and whether its worth spending the money in taking this......... any thoughts welcome...........

hey dude! I am also a slider down jumper.......... but I have theory about slider up........... people on solid objects are taking 4-6 sec slider up and I think that some of them do not realise the problems in doing this........ my own thoughts are that the 5-8 sec delays with a slider are the ones that can cause you shit! Why take a 5 sec slider up when I can do a 3 or 4 slider down.......... to me taking the slider down option is safer........... (I am just talking about openings rather than the object delays) If I can take a slider in the 8+ region I would be happy - its just the region of 4 - 6 that to me scares me............ sliders are no worry - but its the sub-terminal deployment in this range that scares me......... you have an A that you can do some nice delays from but you choose to jump sub200 - my thought is try out the slider jumps on it - you have enough height to get out of that "range" in the low altitude parachute deployment science, i still think people dont respect the fact there is a range of delays that its safer just to take a smaller delay slider down (dependant on object) - slider up and longer delays do not mean a safer jump!!!!

do a search and there are some posts about tailgate hang ups after some recent discussion about the bands and wraps people take on a tailgate........... I had an interesting discussion with Faber last time he stayed at my house about tailgates and bands etc....... as for taking "more than 3 wraps" I would never do that - I do some low freefalls (or I did before this time in my life) and I would only ever take 2 wraps - over 3 seems like over kill and may cause problems in the lower end, especially if you are taking larks head etc........ when freefalling low end, any small problem becomes a big Mutha Fuckin problem........

is this still a recovering accident?

i hate that reference that skydiving is safer than the drive to the DZ - its bloody ignorant to use that as an arguement............. basically what we do as parachutists can (and will in the BASE environement) hurt you and put you in hospital........... I know the car journey can hurt / kill you - but sorry, I know more skydivers with hospital time, or have died than car drivers - and I know many many many more car drivers!!! Example: I have had the following happen to GOOD friends: 1) Jan04 - My friend busts his leg and arm skydiving 2) Apr-04 - BASE jump my friend busts his leg 3) May-04 I bust my leg on BASE jump 4) June-04 - 2 friends bust their legs, (1 skydiving 1 BASE) Now you tell me you know that many people getting hurt driving a car in the past 2 months!!! WHAT WE DO IS FUCKING DANGEROUS!!!!!! Dont think its not!!!
