You obviously dont know me then............ IF my style of writting offends you, then I am so sorry......... but it does not get away from what I was saying...... No one knows if BASE is for them when they start out, its impossible to know how you will react to BASE, alot of people have sacrificed alot to get into the sport "safely"........ too many people are heard to say "I want to....." but never make the effort or expect it on a fucking plate for them......... I hope this is a more pleasing read for you... Get over myself? huh! I am sat recovering from a fucking injury I certainly dont need you to try and humble me! Fucks sake...........

I sold my skydiving gear and travelled from the UK to ID and got into about £5000 ($7,500ish) worth of debt to make my first stinking jump without knowing if it was for me...... I think its called effort and dedication and sacrifice to get something I wanted................ What do you want, someone to hold your fucking hand, pay for you and at the same time spread jam on it? if you want something bad enough you will do anything to get it.................

fuck man you beat me by one leg and 15 miles.................... its a shit deal sometimes not burning an object!.............

... the fact is also the people there thought my injury was xxxxx when infact it turns out it is xxxxxx - first aid training is the best thing ever, the kit you may have is useless without the training!

funny ha ha as I am thinking the same.......... the big factor in my accident was that my foot was so baldy dislocated that it had to be realingned to stop the restriction of blood flow and loosing it - how many people have the knowledge and thought to sort that out? I never want to be in the position of this happening to a friend and not knowing what to do...................

I assume that everyone knows wish you were here and shine on you crazy diamond were tributes to Syd Barrett? apparently when they were recording shine on you crazy diamond the first time, syd barrett walked in after years away and years without seeing the guys, he stood and listened to it and walked out again with out being seen again........... fucking freaky! its funny this should now be a thought with you. During my recovery I have decided there are things I want to do and have before I jump again. 1) crutches and trauma kit in my car 2) Decent first aid training (someone was there to realign my foot as they "knew" what to do and why to do it, to stop the risk of mr loosing it) 3) Battle Gear (i never really wore much other than knee pads 4) Decision on who I am juming with (I thank the people with me) 5) A plan and decision should anything go wrong (sometimes we forget hey!) 6) a tool kit - this was needed to take out fencing to get me away from the landing area without needing to call anyone. I managed to get out of the landing area and hospital without calling anyone, without the resources and knowledge of the people with me it could have been a lot worse..........

from this thread, just curious on what your favorite Pink Floyd albums are and what period you prefered. I like Piper at the Gates of Dawn for a couple of tracks, and find most people into PF have not heard it.......... Syd Barrets only album he worked on and he WAS Pink Floyd originally....... I like Meddle (sp) for a few tracks that sound amazing on a decent system........ Atom Heart Mother - some cool tracks....... Dark Side of the moon - enough said! The Wall - again, enough said....... but after that I found PF lacked anything they had previously..... I went to the concert at Earls Court (the one after the seating collapse!), and they did some tracks from the latter days, but they went back to the older stuff because that was so much better............. The later stuff I did not really like at all! So do you prefer the old school or the new school PF?

Ive got a bike you can ride it if you like it has a basket a bell and lots of things to make it look good.

i think some people have missed the point here. When I return after this injury, I have been told "if i choose to BASE jump again I will loose my job" I may loose my job anyway due to the time off I am having with the current injury, but my point is that if i go back to normal corporate life then if I choose to continue with BASE then they will sack me.......... there is a chance they will sack me if I return back to skydiving......... yes I know that having so much time off is not good for the company, but I have worked there for 6 years whislt skydiving / BASE jumping and without anymore than 1 or 2 days off sick a year. They accepted what I did, but now they are tellling me after this time off that they will sack me if I continue.............. is that really fair? It looks like that if I go in for my realigment, replating and bone graft I wont have a job anyway (that I can understand after so much time off) but to go back and be accepted back only to be told "if you do xxxx, you wont have a job" then to me thats fucked up! thanks to everyone with info and help that has posted / PM'd me! you US guys think that EU BASE is open and wide, but in the end we have to sneak around and make our mid-week jumps like the rest of you........ each country is different, but in the UK we sneak around and jump some gnarly shit mid-week!

i have seen PCA's where a thumb / hand could be ripped off from the way the PC is held.......... be careful people.............

I posted this in the BASE forum, but just wondered if any of you guys have had shit over your "parachute activity" just curious thats all! NB: replace BASE jumping with skydiving to make it more relevant to you if needs be, cause its the same to my bosses and maybe the same to yours...........

well I returned to work for 2 days this week after 3+ months off as I really cant afford to live on Statutory Sick Pay. I had a meeting with one of the directors about the fact I may require alot more time off due to some complications and further surgery and the discussion moved onto the acceptance of BASE with my company. Apart from the fact of being told I have a 50/50 chance that I will be sacked with more time off sick (and its in my contract to say after 13 weeks this can be done) I was blatently told "if you BASE jump again, you will not have a job with us" - asking about skydiving they said it may have the same conclusion. The director tried to go into the arguement about the risk of BASE compared to other sports, and I had to just stop the conversation and tell him I could debate for hours about this subject and the approach the company are taking towards me. It was not worth doing. I know that within business you dont want "percieved" high risk........ I know that after 3+ months off I left them in shit and in the end my director is thinking about his situation........... I know its not personal..... I have learnt my lesson that its better not to let people know know what I do........ even if you are friends with them, but if your actions may have an impact on them, then you may have to reconsider what you say to them. I know people have issues with BASE and their jobs due other issues........ but I am curious if anyone has other issues like me where the corporate world where you would otherwise be a fundamental part of the workings of a department / company are actually disregarded due to the fact of your "hobby" I never boasted, I never spoke to other people in the company about what I did, but I felt my boss was someone who I could tell about what I do, & they were ok with it until it went wrong......... Let this be a warning, although you maybe a person that they deem valuable, they may actually turn round and deem your sport unacceptable to their corporate goals.... aint it a fucking shit!!! anyway enough rant from me....... apologies......... but it pissed me off........
