New Vector - Backpad: Cordura or Parapak?
GravityGirl replied to klafollette's topic in Gear and Rigging
Parapak. Cordura is more abrassive up against your skin. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Anyone got in contact with DaKine Rags lately?
GravityGirl replied to Winznut's topic in Gear and Rigging
It is possible that Chuck doesn't check his email daily. And remember, things are a little more laid back in Hawaii than the rest of the world. I expect your suit will be ready soon and full of good vibes. DaKine.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -

I have a demo Pilot 210 that has about 50 jumps on it. I'll trade you! Then we can trade back when yours has 50 jumps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Non-Split G-4 main deployment bag
GravityGirl replied to verticalflyer66's topic in Gear and Rigging
I love my split bag. I have had customers order the non-split as well. It's just personal preference. Do you have a new main? Or is it slightly used? Are you struggling with your packing now? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Mirage Container Design..? ( with pics this time)
GravityGirl replied to partyboy's topic in Gear and Rigging
Silver trim with a silver harness would look good. But what would look even better is Charcoal! The charcoal at Mirage is a very tasty color. It will give you less of a "blocky" look as you put it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
R & D costs. Also the manufacturing costs on reserves are lower. Them make more of a single style at a time reducing man hours. Also the materials cost is less. That's just my personal opinion. I don't make 'em. I just sell 'em! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Pack in a plastic garbage bag. Make sure your put an extra piece of cardboard along the seam. When the receipient opens it with a knife, you don't want them cutting through the rig. Pack in a snug fitting box. Cypres packed in the rig is protected by the rig. If it is not assembled, then take extra care packing the cypres in bubble wrap or something similar. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

dark color (namely black) gear. dangerous for night jumps?
GravityGirl replied to superman0710's topic in Gear and Rigging
I used to jump an all grey main parachute. I got really tired of people walking up to me in the landing area and saying, "Sorry! I didn't even see you!" I was also difficult to spot on night and twilight jumps. So there is some merit to your concern. You can see my canopy colors now on the pic I attached. As for resale value. I have to disagree with the very generalized statement that Black is an easier resell. I sell a lot of used gear, and most people prefer "some" color over all black given the choice. If your favorite color is black, there are a lot of really cool things you can do with rigs and parachutes that might just appeal to you. PM me if you want help "coloring". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
I jumped one for over 1000 jumps. I do not jump one now, because every once in a while the PC would catch air before I fully let go. It would tweak my arm just a little. I didn't really feel it, but over time I developed a fluid sack on my shoulder from the friction. Not painfull. Just funny looking. Now that the throw out rigs are so clean and the bridle is very well protected, I went back to a throw out. Just personal choice. I think pull outs rock. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! My Mirage G3 looks like crap after the service bulletin?
GravityGirl replied to Supergeil's topic in Gear and Rigging
>>Yours and Icon's are both G4 I don't think it's quite the same flaps. The bulletin should be easier to do on the G4! Gravity Gear! -
Lemon is "Day Glow" or Neon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I would not try to cram a Sabre2 170 in there. Advise against. If you really must try to cram a 170 in there, then a Spectre has a smaller pack volume. I wouldn't exactly "recommend" that either. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

My Mirage G3 looks like crap after the service bulletin?
GravityGirl replied to Supergeil's topic in Gear and Rigging
My rig looks hot! Looks the same as before the mod. I love my rigger! Clay Bonevito is da man!!! If you are really dis-saticfied, may I be so bold as to recommend you get a second opinion from another qualified rigger? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Just have a rigger test the strength of the fabric. If you do not know the history of the canopy (Storage, etc.), you will want to know integrity of the fabric. A rigger can do this for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Fair Deal. Have it stress tested by your rigger. If it's 20 years old and been baking in the sun.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

How many jumps are on your Sabre2? Does it have an original line set? I have had some feedback of very slow openings on the Sabre2s. Some that need a little encouragement with the end cells and slider. You should be wearing your harness snug and safe. Before looking at your container, do the process of elimination with your canopy. Have the trim checked. Check the length of the brake lines. Look into your packing technique. If you find nothing with the canopy, then try putting it in another container and jump it. You should NOT have to loosen your chest strap! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
I can't answer " No, I would not jump" , because if I KNOW that I'm gonna die jumpin' then I also KNOW that I have to jump again to die doing it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

You are really close to me. (Byron, Bay Area Skydiving) I have them in stock and you can try them on. Otherwise, PM me and I'll work something out for you. I have a pin head myself! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Of course it's normal. I still get freaked out after 10 years. I have always decided to continue jumping so far. If you decide to keep jumping, ask yourself if you are doing everything you can to keep yourself alive. What changes might you make? I've always found, the place I like to honor and remember my lost friends is at altitude, under canopy at sunset. Good luck with your internal questions. I feel ya! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
